Thoughts on Ashland's season

Featured Replies

I'd jus like to reflect a little bit on the tomcats season. It seems like when they lost to Raceland in the opener, it kind of woke them up a little bit. This is a huge senior class, and they accomplished alot this year and set the bar high for the tomcats for years to come...

Thoughts?

From listening to the game Friday they should still be playing.

I did a dance when I heard Dickie call the game winning TD for the Eagles...sorry if you don't like that, but as an old school Devil, it's always a pleasure to see Ashland lose. Even better when the Devils are still playing...:fire:

The Tomcats had a good season and proved to a lot of people that they wouldn't quit. The players represented their program with a lot of class and that is a reflection of their coaching staff. All Seniors gave everything they had and set an example for the returning players to follow. The Tomcat fans should be proud to have coach Hart leading the Tomcat program. Good luck next season!!!

Obviously, this quote reflects a jealousy towards the Ashland football program.

I don't know about jealousy but a deep love for the Russell program. Now that Ashland is out Russell will get some newspaper time.:thumb:

 Maybe this quote just reflects an over inflated ego.

Or maybe it's just nice to see the smug attitudes of many Ashland fans get knocked down a notch or two...no jealousy since my team's still playing while the kittens are rolling out the basketball's...:dancingpa

I think what Goherd means is that it made Russell's season that much sweeter. Realizing that the only team to put a blemish on their record is now getting ready for basketball season. While Russell is preparing to meet Corbin Friday night for the Regional championship.

I think Ashland had a very good season and should be proud of themselves. IMO the improved each and every week, and thats what good football teams do, get better. This can be shown by their exceptional play in the rematch against JC. In no way should Ashland hang their heads.

I know there are people from both sides that feel the same way, and I really have never understood that. I just don't get the reasoning for cheering against local kids, some of whom you've probably known since they were kids, some whom you probably go to church with, or work with their parents.Maybe it's just a sign of maturity, or the lack thereof. To each their own, but I will proudly cheer for the Red Devils and the Rams as long as they are playing.

Imo Ashland had a good season . I was talking to few people BEFORE their first game with Raceland and one comment that I heard was "the worst Tomcat team in 40years" and "they will be lucky to win 4 or 5". There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Ashland program. The Tomcats are VERY well coached and always play and represent themselves and the school with pride. :thumb: to the Tomcat players, you have nothing to hang your heads over. Everyone was doubting you and writing your season off when you lost to Raceland, turns out that you lost to a pretty good 11-1 team (at this point) who are in a regional final. You beat Russell and Belfry (a couple of very good football teams) and were very close to winning against JCHS (#2 ranked) I belive in the District championship. Good luck to the Tomcats next year and beyond.

I believe Ashland had a very good season. Like many have already posted, a lot of people, (myself included) were very skeptical about the Tomcat's chances this season after the opening game loss. To the credit of the coaching staff, and the players, they didn't listen to everyone else. They believed in themselves, and proceeded to win 7 games in a row, before losing to a very good Johnson Central team. After that loss, and a couple of scares against Boyd Co. and Mason Co. the doubters were back. Once again the coaching staff and players never gave up on each other, and took Johnson Central to the last play of the game. This team has a lot to be proud of, and should always hold their heads high. They have helped build upon the great Tomcat tradition. :thumb:
