The Panthers are having a run of bad luck with injuries. Coach Weedman and the assistant coaches know what they are doing and they ARE doing a good job with what they have. The Panthers are small and with the injuries to key people they don't have a lot of options. The great fans in Carrollton need to hang in there and keep supporting them.

Are Beechwood's numbers down from years past? I only noticed about 40 players on their sideline.

1. It was an option pitch and Bellevue had both the QB and RB covered. \ 2. Both receivers totally covered. QB should not have thrown the ball at all. There was no one to "loft" the ball to. He was covered. 3. Obvious clip on the cover man about 5 feet from the returner. 4. Ludlow receiver could have caught the ball but didn't. The Bellevue DB responded exactly as he should have. It is called tip drill. Ludlow has a good team, especially at the skill positions. They are well coached and they played a good game. Bellevue seemed a little flat to begin the game, but controlled the game from the last part of the first half to the end. Ludlow had -16 yards rushing. Give Bellevue the credit they deserve and stop saying Ludlow "killed" themselves. By saying that you are not giving the credit where it should go -- to the Bellevue Tigers! "Can you beat that BLACK and GOLD? Hell NO!"

How is Wilfong doing? He is another good player who I heard was injured.

Is it true that Arkansas Brewer has left Newport's team? He is a heck of a player and will be a huge loss if it is true.

I have heard Mark Bowman, former Ryle and Mason, Ohio defensive coordinator is considering going to CC as DC.

Bellevue does not do spring practice because coach Eckstein does not want to interfere with the spring sports. The vast majority of his players are playing baseball and running track. In a small school like Bellevue (with only a little over 100 boys 9-12) it is important that the athletes play as many sports as possible. They are continuing to lift weights. The spring sports coaches work with him so the athletes can lift as often as possible. He is only being fair back to them.

As I said, I base my opinion on many things over the past several years. Currently, I am frustrated by the dragging of feet in the coaching selection process. This is supposed to be a big time 4A program, but a quality inside source tells me they still have not contacted the applicants they want to interview. The word around northern Kentucky is that it is a done deal, that the Sheriff is going to get the job. I am just interested in seeing how this plays out. Maybe they won't look inept by the end of the process, but experience tells me they will.
