35-0 at the half. Carroll is a huge disappointment.

Like I said in a previous thread.....Could this be a winless season for the Panthers?

Wouldn't shock me at this point!!!

I hate to see the Panthers getting beat like this. Hopefully they can pull it together and get a win or two before the season is done.

Before the season started a Carroll County fan told me that they will have 9-10 wins.

Carroll has some talent, I just do not know why they can not win.

Coaching? They won with Eckstein(sp?). It seems as if those kids aren't taught properly on how to play the game. Also, they need a QB that can throw the ball. No offense to the kid doing it, b/c he gives everything he has, but bless him he can't throw well enough to be a Varsity QB.

Your comments are disappointing Super B!! If you paid attention to what is going on, Carroll is w/o 3 of their starting offensive linemen, they're starting 2 freshmen, 2 first year players, and has been w/o Daniel Rose since the 1st quarter of the season. Not making excuses but, IMO these are huge obstacles to overcome; especially at a small 2A school like Carroll. I commend these players who have stepped up and continue to give 110% every play, even when the cards are down. The quarterback is going to be just fine. That position is a growing process and he has a lot of bright spots.Very few people are born with the ability to play quarterback. After all the adversity Carroll has dealt with;things will start to turn up.

I will totally agree with you on your point about Rose being out. This kid is absolutely the heart and soul of this team and they are lost without him on both offense and defense. He tried to play last night and reinjured his ankle in the first quarter and still played probably two-thirds of the offensive plays. But no one has stepped up to replace him and his leadership on the field. Welch has moments of outstanding play and then disappears for two quarters. The QB is a junior and starting for the first time and his timing is way off. He has the arm and the accuracy but is taking way too much time to spot his receivers. They had two kids ejected in the Spencer Co game for fighting on two rediculous situations and they had to sat out the CAL game so who knows how good this team is. I've seen every play they have ran this season and I see a team with a world of athletes and potential that are going nowhere fast. Shooting yourself in the foot by fighting and missing two games is inexcusable. Discipline problems have been evident at this school since Eckstein departed. Weedman, to his credit, has toned it down somewhat, but there is still an aire of cockyness coming from an 0-4 team that mistify's me. You can count on 4 or 5 big plays (40-80 yards) against the defense every week. Last night there was at least 4 bad snaps in the shotgun formation and 2 bad snaps to the punter that cost them a blocked punt that was recovered for a TD. So, I'm sorry you are disappointed in my disappoinment. I just want to see this team that is blessed with so many good athletes get their due and it's not going to happen unless they decide to dedicate themselves and all of them start to show the same heart that the Rose kid put out on the field last night.

This is an awesome post, SuperB...to the point, truthful about the problems, and wistfully positive about the potential. You have my respect for making it!!!!

I thought Rose played last night.

He played and reinjured his ankle in the first quarter. He stayed in the game and pretty much played on guts alone. He probably had 50-60 yards.

Rose is an excellent RB...hate to hear that he continues to struggle with the ankle.

As everyone probably knows, I am very biased towards Welch, but I have to disagree that he disappears during the game. I believe he has scored a majority of the points this year even being double and triple teamed, at best. At Spencer County, his name was about the only one that was called on both offense and defense. He is the 3rd leading rusher in class 2a with the season that Carroll has been having. I don't call that disappearing. His physical limitations that he has been experiencing are usually because he is on the field for EVERY play - offense, defense, kickoff and punt return.

This team is just not inspired to win and one player can't make that happen. You can't win when you only score on the big breakout plays. Until there is a solid offense that can score off of drives, it will be very difficult for Carroll to win.

I surely didn't mean to imply that Welch was the problem. He is a great athlete and, with Rose out of the lineup, is virtually all the offense the Panthers have to offer. Playing as much as he does I'm sure he is getting very tired early in the game, which is why it seems he disappears, for lack of a better word. If Carroll doesn't turn it over via an interception or a fumble then it is usually a three and out. When they have had a big play this season he has usually been on one end or the other of it. I do, however, think he gets his rest on defense.

I have followed Carroll pretty closely being familar with that area. I have seen them @ camps,7 on 7's and lineman challeges. They have a couple of athletes-Welch & Rose....#20 Dawn has potential and the other WR #5 or #15 has his moments. I think alot of the problem this year is hangover from the previous coach and the discipline issues. I know that Coach Weedman's main focus this year was addressing discipline problems so I'm sure that factors in. But it is simple--look @ their size.

When I seen them @ the lineman challenge their best lineman was all of 5'5" 165lbs. #50 has good size but from my understanding he is out for rest of season with a shattered hand. I think the lines OL/Dl are fundamentally sound-but just not very big or have not played very long. Any school that lacks size up front is gonna struggle...most schools with new head coaches are gonna struggle.

I am impressed with the numbers Weedman has got out and if they keep this up they will be fine down the road.
