Juggs are looking great offensively and doing enough on defense to win games. Lloyd knows how to keep the opposing team off the field while taking time off the clock. Walton will not be able to score enough to keep this close IMO.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but two of the best teams Dixie faced this year were SK and Ballard. Ballard does not have the size up front SK does, and beat Trinity. SK has a really good running back stable that the Rocks cannot overlook. Crone is NOT their only offense. I think SK does enough defensively and pulls this one out 27-23.

Then they weren't touchdowns. Just sayin.

I’d love to see a Dixie win here but with a defense as good as Ballard has, and an offense as bad as Dixie has, it just isn’t going to happen. Dixie defense will be on the field a lot chasing some really fast athletes… from behind. That’s it, that’s the post.

I am and have been very pro Burke. From the parent meeting when he came on board he set a very good tone. He seems like a no nonsense, but approachable guy. He knew he was taking over a program that would have an uphill climb this season with what they lost in staff and in players. If my comment was taken out of context apologies for that. IF I was a Turkeyfoot parent I would have a moment of pause right now (understandably with the current state of Dixie) on if I would send my son there for athletic reasons. To be clear I hope this is not the case. The numbers were up this year, and their practices are structured and fast paced. My son loves playing there still. And Turkeyfoot has some players coming to field a great freshman squad next year. I don’t agree with Bobby that while this senior group is a good group of kids and were decent players, nobody stood out. The senior group of parents were jaded with the old administration and fuel a lot of the discontent in the ether. By the way, for all the parents who were gassing up the bus to drive Brossart out of town, lol he is absolutely killing it at Lloyd as the OC. Dixie has a lot of good players on the roster coming back like Brach Rice, and has a couple juniors getting “looked at” by big schools right now too. He has been playing younger kids on both sides of the ball on Fridays. That experience will be invaluable for the future. Dixie will be fine and I am advocating for patience with Burke. One other thing I really hope happens is that Burke gets a few more coaches in the door. I understand he was very selective with who he brought with him from Ohio and who he brought on from Dixie. I do think it is a fair critique to say the inaction to make a change of any sort on Offense is my biggest gripe, and I hope to goodness they clean up the penalties going in to next season. I also agree with Guru if next season starts like this one, that seat gets really hot.

Late to the party but I had some observations about this game. I am not surprised by the outcome, but I am surprised at the score. On an emotional night like senior night, chance at third place in district, and almost a packed house, Dixie laid an absolute egg. This offense just simply isn’t working, and the worst thing that has happened to Dixies defense. And while you can certainly appreciate wanting to stay the course, it is obvious to anyone who has watched this team that it is one of the most predictable O’s out there and when it works, its sexy, but at some point, Burke and his O coordinator should have seen they did NOT have the personnel for that type of offense and made a change of some sort. Anything really. If I was a turkeyfoot parent, I would look hard at do I want my son to play at Dixie, or the other two schools down the street. I am still on team Burke and advocating for patience while the other parents are calling for his head. But after this outcome and the continued discipline issues they are having, it is starting to get a bit lonely over here on my island. I know they are injured and limping in to most games the past few weeks, but the number of flags is inexcusable. The left tackle at one point had back-to-back personal foul calls in this game, and stayed in for the entirety of the rest of the game. The days of being “young” and “inexperienced” become less of an excuse as the season goes on. For the seniors I hope they have a good showing against Scott this week. It will be their last opportunity for a win, being that Ballard is next week.

I think this will be a slightly more competitive game for Dixie. I'd say if they were healthy there was at least a chance, but between injuries at key positions and flags they will not have enough to beat a good Ryle defense. The last 5 weeks have decimated the Red Colonels at every level, and position. I do not think Burke and Co are giving up on the season, but if they don't win tonight, their best chance of any semblance of positivity are against Campbell County and Scott. And the Campbell game will be a 50/50 game. I hope I am wrong but Ryle should win this game 9/10 on paper. Side note: Some of the parents are starting to chatter more loudly about Burke and his staff/system. I hope they will be patient and give the guys a chance to legit build this thing his way. They got their way and had a hand in running Brossart out and as you can see, he's doing quite well at Lloyd now. Be patient I am sure these kids and staff aren't losing on purpose.

Dixie had no defensive front to speak of tonight. Their best end went out in first half with a broken hand I believe, the other end is already in a cast, nose guard wasn’t giving them much anyway got concussed in the first half, and linebackers didn’t appear very physical. Brach rice put his hand in the dirt and it was cool to see him and Aba go at it. Those two are going to be great on Saturdays. SK’s front line is a big physical group and absolutely erased the last two seasons of getting beat at Dixie’s hand. Be surprised if it isn’t more of a froshmore game for Dixie Saturday morning they are beat up right now.

Credit Cooper for holding on and getting a late score to seal the deal. Great second half of football. Dixies best offensive output at the froshmore level to date. With all of their depth issues Dixie has a lot of kids playing out of position this is a gritty little group. Long run for a score, long pass for a score, forced a safety on special teams, blocked punt, blocked PAT, and things would have been very interesting had Dixie not dropped that 4th down pass in the end zone.

How awesome is it to see Campbell being competitive again? The GRC win definitely raised my eyebrow and I’m sure a few others. I hope they haven’t peaked yet, but looks like they have shaken off the distractions and started to play better little by little. Should make for a really good game out in Union. Ryle has to protect the football if they want to keep this game from getting away from them. I think they have the running game to sustain drives and keep the Camels off the field. I’d like to see them do that more. Ryle starts to get into trouble when they throw. Hope they aren’t looking past this game to next week.

Congrats to Lloyd on a great season so far. Quietly putting up a lot of points and doing enough defensively to win. I'm excited to see how they do come playoff time.

Dixie is coming off a brutal stretch of 3 of the best teams in NKY where they showed flashes, but shot themselves in the foot… a lot. Two of the three have really good defenses. I think any Beechwood fan would say halftime 21-7 was a bit closer than they wanted it to be. Berger is going to get his against any team he plays, but outside of him they couldn’t really generate a lot. Seems to be a consensus Dixies discipline issues are indicative of a younger team learning a new system. Dixie recently seemed to be figuring some things out defensively because they forced BW into quite a few fourth down situations. Offensively Dixie did move the ball now that they have added a couple two-way players on that side of the ball. Now, they could only finish once in the second half, but it was a brilliant play where Dixies best wide receiver juked the BW Robinson kid for the TD. They are not without talent. We know SK can put a lot of points on the board really quick, their tempo isn’t as quick as Dixies but it is more efficient, measured, and Crone runs it well. Crone has a great line in front of him and he can make any throw. All of which is nothing new from past seasons. I am just not sold that SK is that much better. SK has a good win at Highlands and were competitive against Corbin. I’m sure I’ll get flack for this but am I wrong to point out that’s really the only two bright spots for SK this season so far? That defense does not have Crone on it and they give up a lot of points. I think SK wins this game to be clear. They are just the better team right now and if they blow out Dixie it wouldn’t be a surprise. However, after a 500-yard output against a really good team in Corbin, maybe SK is ripe for the ol let down game. I think Dixie keeps it respectable if they stay out of their own way and continue to figure things out. This could be Dixies turning point game where the light bulb comes on for Burkes crew at home.

Schedule says Thursday. Is that a typo?

The Berger kid is an outstanding player. Looked like he was playing a bit banged up and still did what he did. About as legit a Mr Football contender as you're going to see. Beechwood is a good team and they did some good things. Dixies problem was Dixie... and Berger tonight. I think Dixies offensive line had it's best game since Connor, but the false starts were a thorn in their side all night. I think every single lineman had at least one call, but they were physical. Brach rice was more involved in the offense and did well there but he did not have his best defensive effort tonight. Trey Barnett is a heck of a wide receiver, he did well against the Robinson kid, but ball security was an issue. Refs missed a big one when they called the fumble in the middle of the field he was clearly down. That shifted any momentum back to Beechwood and it was a rap from there. Dixies defensive line did not have their best game which is to be expected when Berger is on the other side of the ball. Dixies secondary had one of their better games too. All in all if Dixie got out of their own way probably a closer contest, but Beechwood does have a good squad and will make you pay dearly for mistakes. Dixie showed flashes of their potential tonight, setting up an interesting tilt next week. Just got to quit shooting themselves in the foot to have a shot.

If you’re looking for a silver lining for the red colonels, two of the last three contests have been close and last time Dixie was at Beechwood the score says it was close but it was all Dixie in that game. That’s it, that’s all I got. Dixies weakness is their offense and Beechwoods strength is their defense. Dixie is in the middle of a brutal stretch of schedule where they have played the haves and the have mores. If BW can run the ball as we all know they can, it will likely wear down a Dixie defense that could use a vacation after the work they have put in the last couple weeks. Whether it’s a running clock, shootout, or a defensive game, Beechwood is the winner in every scenario.

Was thinking the same. Some of us on here really try to be objective. Some of us just throw out a stupid line really quick and watch the thread burn which can be entertaining too. Madden is a blue troll under the bridge waiting to pounce at any chance he/she can to say a disparaging word about Ryle or Dixie. When you’ve been third in district for two seasons that can be expected I guess. But hey SK has some big lineman, Chase Crone, and a .500 record. Guess we should put respect on their name before a Corbin game where they will most likely lose, be below Ryle in the standings still, and below .500 heading into district play. But you know, they have big lineman.

Correct, not helmet to helmet and yes, targeting because he was defenseless. The hit was near the head area, due to the highlands player coming down from his jump. The Dixie player that hit him clearly turns his right shoulder into him and barely leaves his feet if at all. The refs were right to throw the flag and it should be a penalty 10/10 times. For anyone who wants to put their own interpretation on it, you tube shows it at the 1:43 mark.

I’m not sure of the distant history but the last two seasons prior to this one Dixie has been fine with on field discipline. This season has been bad for on field issues. In this game two personal fouls by Dixie and one on Highlands on the sideline. The Rice penalty on the returner I witnessed almost the entire defensive staff give him hell for it. Helmet to Helmet ended up just being a hard shoulder on a defenseless receiver (via pics posted from the game) but the officials have to throw that flag there. I didn’t see that one live I was over at the concession stand. I will say as a parent some of the sideline and day to day discipline issues you hear about are concerning. Dixie did continue to do what they do offensively and did not deviate from their new style of offense. At this point I can’t say I blame them. These kids just learned the offense and to change it now wouldn’t be good. Still a young team that needs to continue to learn and grow in this system and I think they will do that. This was not going to be a very competitive year anyway for them with all the changes in the program.

Hats off to Highlands on a really good team win. I love my red colonels but the same ugly trends keep showing up. Offense can’t sustain drives, defense on the field way too much, and no depth to help out. The defense has been the better side of the ball thus far until tonight. Plenty of blame to go around for this one. After a bye week I did not see this coming. In my opinion Dixie has to make a change on offensive philosophy. This tempo hurry up or whatever you kids call it is not the answer clearly. You’re never as bad or as good as they say you are. So if I’m highlands I wouldn’t start making reservations in Lexington just yet, and if I’m Dixie it’s not the end of the world… yet.

As much as they have been on the field that is a huge ask to switch over to offense as well when you haven’t taken snaps there, and a risk to the depth on the Dline. All the rushing yards in the world would have never stopped CovCath being as surgical to the Dixie secondary as they were. And that was early in the game. Like I said earlier let’s see how Burke and company handled the bye week. Dixie knew they were about to go through a heck of a stretch on their schedule, I just don’t think it’s time to panic yet. District play doesn’t start for two and half weeks, and early returns on 6A in NKY show the district is still an achievable goal.

Just to be clear, I do agree there have been issues up front with Dixie, and if they ever put a game together where all 5 worked together, it’s a going to be a good day. I think they have one of the best centers in NKY in Joey Shultz, a three-year starter, then roll the dice with the rest. There have been flashes but, it’s only been in the second half of games. I’m just not so sure the D-line kids would be that much of an upgrade, and they have all been injured at some point already. You are correct I do think there is something to their scheme as well. This hurry up or tempo offense they do is fun… when it works. I think it’s important to remember these kids just got into this offense/defense in the spring. It’s a whole new everything with the addition of coach Burke. When you have kids fighting each other on the sideline, that is a bigger issue than scheme IMO. No scheme is going to work if the kids aren’t disciplined enough to run it. Take Highlands right now, I have seen their faithful talk about defensive penalties which is very uncharacteristic of a Highlands team. And it has hurt their larger effort in some games. For Dixie I believe some of the discipline issues are left over from the last administration, and some of it was frustration about the miscues in the CovCath game. Like I said earlier let’s see how Burke and company handled the bye week. I think we all knew Dixie wasn’t going to beat the big three in L-ville tomorrow. I know other Dixie parents won’t like this, but there will be some growing pains while Burke builds this program up.

Let’s take your scenario for Dixie to fix the Offense. You’re taking kids off of a good defensive front. These kids have not taken a snap at all in this new offense. Dixie is almost halfway through the season already so making a change that drastic may not be the best route. The numbers speak for themselves. CovCath aside Dixie has rushing totals of 180ish, 280ish, and 270ish before last game when they were held to 100. The Oline will be ok, CovCath just made them one dimensional by getting up big early, and by the way, just did the exact same thing to Beechwoods run game too. Don’t see a lot of panic over there after an off game. Dixie while young, can’t use that excuse forever, but the discipline issues are for sure going to hurt them moving forward. I’m curious to see how Burke and staff handled all those issues during the bye week.

Congrats to the Royals. Happy for those kids and that staff. Coach Wynn is doing an awesome job out there.

I agree that Highlands offense seems to be settling in. They basically did what they wanted to do, especially in the second and third quarters against Ryle and their QB looked comfortable. The Bluebird defense still has some work to do for sure. This is a good week for their D to get better against a struggling offense. Last year’s game and the way it ended is a nothing burger, pressure did not allow the QB to get off a good throw, and the ref on highlands sideline was clearly running in and pointing to the ground, indicating he was blowing the play dead after the interception. Dixie was just a better team that night for once. If Dixie has a shot it's that they have, at times, shown flashes of brilliance on defense, and their special teams have been doing well. It’s the only reason they have been in games. Their defenses lack of discipline has been one of the reasons they weren’t 3-0 going into last week. They are finally relatively healthy and word is that CovCath finally dropped their grieved status on the kid who transferred. Dixies offense has got to sustain drives to keep their defense fresh to have any chance in this game. Looking at the calls for Dixie to mix and match up their O-lineman aren’t watching the same game I am. There is WAY more going wrong for their offense than the line. We all saw against CovCath skill players fighting each other on the sideline, and the week prior at Connor the Oline did just fine. There will be growing pains starting younger QBs. I think Dixie has a chance of moving the ball against the Birds this week. Just not to the level they need too. I’m sure Dixie worked on their issues over the bye, so this game may be more competitive than folks think. But Dixie is such a roller coaster in four games that picking them feels wrong here. Would not surprise me if Dixie wins, just don’t see it happening this week.

Throwing isn't bad... catching the ball however, is an issue.
