  1. Hayden was 17-22 for 255 and 3TDs….not sure what else you are looking for in the passing game. It was only his 3rd varsity start of his career.
  2. I’ve been hearing a huge starter is out tonight for CCH, which would have a major impact on the game. I really hope that’s not true.
  3. Thanks, I’ll let the coaches know that the opening kick was a planned onside kick but the last kick, with the ball laying on its side on the tee, the kicker approaching the ball at an angle towards the sideline and he kicked it spinning like a top directly where it was aimed, was an accident. Gotcha Coach.
  4. Beechwood’s freshman team will be really good and extremely motivated next year. They thumped everyone last year, in respectable fashion, but teams are getting their digs in this year, which is expected. However, I can promise you this, the 8th graders and coaches won’t forget the onside kick with less than two minutes remaining in a 35-13 game, Coach.
  5. Yes, it was their first loss. Campbell Co 43-6 Simon Kenton 36-0 Cov Cath 26-14 Dixie 48-8 Highlands 3-7 Tigers had the ball first and goal at the 10 with about 4:00 left in the game, and had a pass tipped and intercepted on 4th and goal from the 5. They then got the ball back with about 1:40 left and ran 2 minute offense down to about the Highlands 30 and got stopped on downs with about :40 left. It was a really good, physical JV game between 2 good programs. I’d say Beechwood moved the ball more consistently, but obviously couldn’t punch it in. Litmer busted the first play in the 2nd half for a long 70 yard scramble for a TD, and that was the difference in the game. I believe Bottom was the QB in the first half, they had some success, but turned it over twice in the Red Zone, once on a strip fumble from behind, and once on a tipped interception. It was a beautiful fall morning for football, and when both teams were looking at not having games, instead the kids got to play and get better, and the game will help both sides going forward.
  6. I meant to put #4 Shelby Valley instead of Walton.
  7. Another thing to keep an eye on is Owensboro Catholic passing Mayfield. They’re not far behind and Mayfield is going to take a big hit this week against Ballard Memorial. Obviously, that could set up a Mayfield vs LCA regional final.
  8. The Regional finals will be tough to predict but right now I would guess: West- #4 ?????? at #1 Mayfield #3 LCA at #2 Owensboro Catholic East- #4 Walton-Verona at #1 Beechwood #3 Lloyd Memorial at #2 Breathitt County My guess would be the following matchups in the semifinals: #4 Lloyd Memorial at #1 Beechwood #3 LCA at #2 Mayfield
  9. It is statewide but 2 teams come from the East and 2 teams from the west. If LCA passes all of the teams in the East, they can’t be the #4 seed. Therefore, whoever wins the other regional final game in the East will be the #4, playing the #1.
  10. I believe this will be the first time all season the Tigers will be completely healthy, especially on offense. I would think the starters stay in longer than normal to find some rhythm.
  11. Walton-Verona canceled on Beechwood and Boone County canceled on Highlands. Glad they were able to work this one out.
  12. You could be right ... at the same time .... moral victories still usually mean an "L" as opposed to a "W". Not to mention ... I seriously doubt if any of the SK players want to see or relive the fact that they nearly doubled the other teams offensive output and still lost. It isn't a good feeling to wake up with ... and if the faithful would realize that ... things may eventually come out in their favor at the end of the season.
  13. Corbin is really good ... no doubt about that. It would have been a season defining victory (at least in my opinion). I guess my point is ... the Pioneers (or at least their faithful on the site) should have realized that Corbin winning this game with half as much offense is significantly more impressive than losing it with twice as much offense. Maybe I follow the wrong team ... heck maybe I am doing it wrong. Good luck to both teams going forward
  14. Why would you hurry and rush to post stats like that ... know your team lost? It doesn't make them look any better at all. When you come to the internet ASAP after a game (or during a game) and post stats like that ... it sends a horrible message. Like I said ... nothing wrong with supporting your team. It just feels like an excuse for not winning.
  15. Really .. is that all it was? I get it ... there isn't anything wrong with supporting your team. At the same time -- those numbers are not something to be proud of when you lose. There is a fundamental issue that isn't being addressed there ... seems to be a theme. To me -- it tells a team that you don't have to have your best game to beat SK ... they can double your offense output ... and still win. Not sure I would be celebrating that ... from here it feels like an excuse for a loss that shouldn't have happened.
  16. 515 yards of Offense? And lost? Is that a joke? There is this new "thing" ... called defense. Good grief ... try it some time. Seriously ... are people proud of having 515 yards and offense ... and not winning? No offense -- but that isn't a good look for SK. I notice SK person(s) here always seem to be quick with stats ... I fail to feel good about stats like this when the team didn't win. I mean -- not trying to be a jerk -- but that really isn't some to brag about.
  17. Serious question, does the Dixie Froshmore team get their own practice time or do they stand off to the side at varsity practices and get minimal reps?
  18. I believe that is correct and I have also seen teams lose RPI points for wins against really bad opponents and out of state teams.
  19. The one thing to watch is those wins over the bigger schools are weakened by their own overall records. They may be bigger schools but only one team on Mayfields schedule has a winning record. Multiple teams are winless and some of the higher class wins have lost to lower class opponents. Just something to consider
  20. Let’s call it a running clock. It was 30-0 and Beechwood had a scoop and score that was probably one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen
  21. No 7th graders on the freshman roster. They play for the middle school team, which is a mixture of 6th and 7th graders in the nkmssa 7th grade division. This is just a small freshman class. Seems to happen every 5 years or so. I believe the 2020 team had 8-9 seniors on it. They started with only 11 their freshman year.
  22. Beechwood’s freshman team has 37 kids and 9 of them are freshman, so you better get them this year. Their starting QB was plucked away during week 1 and he now starts varsity due to injuries. This group of 8th graders are going to be really good. Big congrats to Coach Lucas and the Pioneers on the big win. I will say, it’s weird to see a varsity head coach calling the plays for a freshman team on the road but it is what it is. The Freshman Tigers are getting better each week
