I would agree with this, good schedule maybe, but I wouldn’t call it a tough schedule.

Is this really a tough schedule? Beechwood was replaced by Raceland, which is a downgrade, and Conner and Scott are terrible.

What does "young" have to do with being the right person at the right time? Exhibit 1: Noel Rash ... Probably one of the more "energetic" coaches in this state ... Pretty sure he is pushing 60. I doubt anyone younger can bring the same type of energy he brings (not to mention there are 2 guys on his staff who are 70 who bring more energy than the overwhelming majority of coaches I have seen in the last 40 years). Point being ...Scott should find the right person ...youth and energy are byproducts of great coaches ...not mandatory hiring points. Experience and the ability to lead and most importantly ...getting kids to do things they don't think they can do are traits few (if any) young coaches have mastered. For the life of me I do not understand why schools like this don't pound the pavement, contact successful head coaches to see if they have assistants who are interested in being head coaches. Business as usual = waiting to see who applies ...then the same committee garbage (knowing the principal has ultimate hiring and firing authority). Which continues to produce the same results. So, not a shot at you, Conch .... Just not so sure I agree.

I was told the schedule was finished, except for the week 1 bowl opponent. Sounds like they’re going back to Fairdale to play in their bowl game, which hopefully goes back to a 4 team format like years past. The non-district opponents are CovCath, Campbell, Dixie and Simon Kenton, not sure in what particular order.

All district weeks for Beechwood ... With 5 district games. I think Pikeville may happen sometime in the future.

In NKY you have Beechwood and Cov Cath, 2 miles apart and they have 25 state titles combined. Highlands and New Cath are 3 miles apart and they have 28 state titles combined. All 4 schools together are no more than 10 miles apart and have a combined 53 state titles. Highlands 23 Beechwood 17 Cov Cath 8 New Cath 5

Based on past experience ... I would say this is coming from a level or two up as opposed to Coach Warner. Sometimes it is easier to go along to get along. The best solution would be for Coach Warner or someone similar to be principal.

No one at Boone County seems to remember when they were the heavy hitters .... While the "Pig Farmers" with similar FaRL number got hammered for years. They certainly didn't care at that time. Were things as bad in the 70's, 80's and early 90's for Conner .... I am sure most people will say no. I call bologna. So in a way, it is interesting to see "what comes around goes around" after all this time. It does carry a little more weight that Coach Warner is part of this effort. At the same time I can't shake the feeling that this is a big middle finger to all the kids who currently go to BCHS ... And a back door way of telling them that someone will always find a way to make an excuse for you if you aren't successful with the opportunity that you are in. Mayfield lost their entire town last year ... And have a much larger FaRL percentage. There answer? We will be back quickly. And they were. They lost a heartbreaker to a program they have consistently beat in the past. Their answer? "Great game ... See you next year" That is something to rally behind. No excuses. As a famous person said after the game (paraphrased) "those kids have to go home to nothing". Those are the skills that should be celebrated.

Yes, the old districts had many blowouts as well, but you only had to play 3 district games. This new setup locks you into playing 5 district games and limits flexibility in the non district schedule. 5 district games against some of these teams is going to be a huge blow to Beechwood’s RPI. It’s just not a very optimal setup, all of the other districts have 4 teams and I think one other that has 5. Also, where does St Henry get put when they join the varsity ranks in 3 years? Will it then be a 7 team district?

Woof….locked into 5 district games a year, and they will more than likely be 5 blowouts.

What about Joe Wynn? He did a really good job at Mason County and I’m pretty sure he currently lives in Taylor Mill.

The games between the 2 haven’t been competitive for quite some time. Since 1998 the series is 20-1 for Beechwood with an average score of 39-8. 8 of those games have been shutouts, with both playoff games being shutouts. Take the series back to 1991 and it’s 28-3 in Beechwood’s favor. Factor in the RPI and I’m not sure it makes a ton of sense for the series to continue. If it does it does, no issue if they continue to play, but I don’t think it’s something that is a necessity.

Curious as to why you hope Beechwood and Lloyd continue to play each other?

So Beechwood is losing it’s entire district with Lloyd moving up to 3A and both Newport and Holy Cross dropping to 1A.

Not sure how much I would read into the injury ... He played defense after he came out of the game on offense.

I just don’t see it. The only TD they scored on Beechwood was a kickoff return. NCC has a few dudes, and the QB has a big arm, but a little inconsistent. Beechwood sophomore RB ran for over 150 yards on NCC, and Birchfield behind that big line will be tough to stop. Anything can happen I guess, but that long trip against that Pikeville team, will be too much to overcome, IMO.

Pikeville Raceland NCC the rest have no shot. If NCC has to go to Pikeville, Pikeville will run the ball at will on them. Pikeville is the clear favorite, Raceland is the only team with a shot at beating them, IMO.

He’s far from a 4 star on the offensive side of the ball. Beechwood has multiple receivers better than him on offense.

Back to the Pikeville thread….but don’t throw out observations when you didn’t even watch the game. Pikeville is the clear favorite to win 1A, but anything can happen on a given day. Injuries always play a big part, if they stay healthy it’s gonna take a big time effort for someone to beat them.

Beechwood’s sophomore running back, making his first start ever, put up more yards than NCC’s entire offense, I don’t think Beechwood struggled with NCC’s line.

Beechwood had trouble against NCC’s line? Beechwood had 188 yards rushing and 349 total. Did you watch the game?

Seeing as Raceland only lost to Highlands by 10, at Highlands, I’d say Raceland would be about a 14 point favorite, especially at home.

NCC threw for 71 yards on Beechwood. QB has a big arm, but inconsistent. Pikeville is heads and shoulders above the rest, and Raceland is probably next in line. Runyon for NCC is very good, but they don’t have enough fire power to beat Pikeville. Birchfield will run it down their throat.

I agree ... the hot tube is probably a good place ... or at least watching a little film before you comment on something you didn't even see.
