  1. Russell lost to a really bad Boone County, did they just play bad in that game?
  2. If this game is close, then Highlands is further away than I thought.
  3. He’s not going to be lining up across from Campbell County Middle School on Friday night.
  4. Here is a pretty interesting "fact"....even if he didn't take advantage of the repeat year ... Campbell would be a senior. So in this case anyway ... That may be a relevant "fact" next year ... It certainly isn't this season since he would still be playing anyway. Whether it was or was not a shot ... Only you know that for sure. From the outside looking in ... It certainly implies something isn't on the up and up or something isn't fair ... Good grief. Are people going to continue to belly ache about this for 11 more years? Each school district was allowed to make their own decision on the repeat year. At the end of the day ...people who still bring this up ... Lets just say it sounds like some people use this as a ready made excuse ... And to bring players names into this discussion in this manner ... Hmmm
  5. SK is BIG and SLOW up front. Beechwood has the best player in NKY in Berger, and the defense has been lights out so far this year. SK will be the best team Beechwood has played thus far, and Beechwood will be the best team SK has played as well. If Crone doesn’t play, it’s going to be a long night for SK, if he plays then it could be interesting. Either way, I hope that Crone is ok, and his injury is not serious.
  6. From what I’m hearing, I’d be shocked to see Davie in purple and gold ever again.
  7. I believe the answer to this may have been that they were preparing for glorified Flag Football, A.K.A. 7 on 7’s.
  8. He is, by far, the best player in NKY and he’s easily top 5 best players in the entire state. The impact he makes in all phases of the game is unbelievable. 29 carries for 192 yards and 3 TDs 4 catches for 40 yards 10+ tackles with a forced fumble and recovery. 30 yard field goal that hit the top of the left upright that would’ve been good from 40+. And, and on top of all of that, the play that made the entire stadium audibly gasp in disbelief, was the 60 yard punt that flipped the field early on. If there’s a more impactful player in KY in all phases of the game, please, let me know. I’m dying to see him. Also, let’s not forget he has a 95 mph fastball in the tank!!
  9. I believe Kurt Barber, Micah Johnson, and Lamar Dawson were all primarily LB’s. They may have also played some offense, but their strength was LB.
  10. Since 2000 Beechwood 8 titles, 3 runners up Highlands 9 titles, 2 runners up New Cath 4 titles, 7 runners up Cov Cath 3 titles, 1 runner up Holy Cross 1 title Ryle 1 runners up Simon Kenton 1 runners up Cooper 1 runners up Dixie 1 runners up Highlands is 2nd all time titles with 23 Beechwood is 3rd all time with 16 Also, I believe that NKY has been represented in the state championships by at least one team, for every year since 1978. I wouldn’t exactly call that overrated.
  11. While I’ll give you that the line is still meshing and may not be quite as big as last year, the young QB Hayden finished the scrimmage 16-20 for 220 yds and 3 TDs. He had one play early in the scrimmage when he should have dumped it to the back, but instead scrambled. Other than that he stood in the pocket and took a couple hard shots and still delivered the ball on the money. He’s definitely not the runner that Hergott was, but for his first varsity start, albeit in a scrimmage, he performed very well.
  12. Just going to leave this here ... anyone who thinks that it is only LCA and Beechwood ... may want to wake up from fantasy land. Mayfield has been, is, and will be in the upper tier as they always have been. I know that no one ... and I mean no one in Fort Mitchell is overlooking Mayfield. To not have them in the top tier is ... well ...lets just say "not based in fact" Not to mention Somerset, Murray, Danville, Green County, Metcalfe County. Way too early to pair it down to 2 teams.
  13. I was told by someone at the school that the plan was to have football within 4 years…..
  14. Yes, they are indeed on different schedules. One is ranked higher, academically, than the other, annually.
  15. Shame on Beechwood for doing what thousands of high schools around the country do every year. Luke Slusher graduated in December last year and enrolled early at WKU. He took the classes necessary to get the credits to graduate early. I’m assuming the Robinson kid was on track to graduate early at his school in Miami, which would mean he would only have to take certain classes at whatever school he went to. It’s actually pretty simple to understand. However, to imply that “the Fort Mitchell School” is changing rules just for this one kid is absolutely laughable but, not above what the fans of the school in Fort Thomas have become. You guys need new hobbies.
  16. I wouldn’t put much stock on a MaxPreps roster. I believe anyone can add names to them. He isn’t on the KHSAA and I haven’t seen him at practice.
  17. I appreciate the response -- this is a perfect example of why this player needs to be given space to make his way. I don't know specifically why he left Beechwood -- but these constant threads/posts on the topic make it fair game.
  18. Is this a joke? I am not sure which part is funnier -- the statement acting you don't really know him -- or that 16 year olds don't read messageboards. I mean ... seriously? I don't even know where to start -- but it does speak to some of the outrageous claims in some of your other posts. Approximately 70% of your posts mention the same player. I don't know him at all -- but what I do see -- is a bunch of posts that border on a distorted view of reality. If I know him better than you -- why are you following him on Twitter -- when I don't have a Twitter account? With that said -- you admit that you were on his Twitter account -- what camps has he been to? What large school coaches have reached out to him? (again -- if you are getting that from Twitter ... throw it out there). I think that these points that you are trying to back track on -- are not going to help this player. Even a little bit. I remember when the older brother was playing a few years back -- constant conversation about UC, UK, etc ... 4 Star ... 5 Star -- none of that happened. Now that I think about it ... maybe I do know him better than you do? Because I know enough to realize that the hype that is out there for this player right now -- puts him in a horrible situation. He is a good player but the truth of the matter is -- especially in Kentucky -- this state isn't a Quarterback recruiting hot bed. Let the kid create his own hype. Pretty sure he can figure it out.
  19. What "big schools" have spoken to the player in question? What camps did he tear up? #2 is has potential ... But I am not real sure the constant hype on the message board is doing anything other than piling on unrealistic expectations on the back of a 16 year old. Between the transferring to Beechwood and transferring back to Walton ... Talking to "big schools", tearing up camps ... Are there any offers yet? I am just not so sure that this type of talk helps this player. I hope he does well - but these statements or at least similar ones may lead to some seriously unrealistic expectations.
  20. Riffle left LCA to go back home to Hurricane, WV and Beach has left Walton to play for Princeton, OH
  21. I am hesitant to jump into this conversation ... but I just heard some interesting conversation about schedules, school, etc. First thought -- there is not a better school district in Kentucky (I understand where Highlands, Dupont Manual really do some impressive things academically) -- with what Beechwood is doing with their technology/science partnerships ... pretty amazing. Not to mention they are either 1 or 2 in ACT Scores every year. Most importantly -- Beechwood does the best job that I have seen -- preparing students for College. Personally -- I haven't seen better. Teachers handle students as if they are already in college -- so when they leave they are ready to roll. Football-wise -- how in the world is Highlands any better than Beechwood right now? I know Highlands has their coach -- hard not to feel good about Coach Sphire. No offense to him -- Coach Rash has really turned things up over the last 5-6 years. Just think about the last 2 years ... NO ONE gave Beechwood a shot at beating LCA -- even with Mr. Football coming back this past season. Yet Beechwood still gets the job done. Five out of the last 6 years have resulted in a state championship. Highlands is making their way back -- Beechwood is already playing at a higher level (I will get to that shortly). Not to mention -- Coach Rash will be at Beechwood for the foreseeable future. Staff-wise -- most of Beechwood's coaching staff has been together for 16+ years. There has been a lot of conversation about certain hires at Highlands (from Highlands guys). Beechwood players are not going to have to worry about things of that nature. Right now any player would be hard pressed to find a better coaching staff to learn from -- from technique to game plan, etc ... all of those things are already in place and have been for an extended period of time. Last -- with a player like this who has a great chance to play at the highest level -- the only real downfall I could see -- would be the level of competition. Then when I started to think about it ... It is pretty close overall: Common Opponents: Simon Kenton (HHS/BHS Won), Dixie Heights (HHS Lost/BHS Won), Covington Catholic (HHS Lost/BHS Won). Highlands obviously plays tougher in district competition. Bowling Green is a high quality program. If McNick is still on the schedule -- that is a team Beechwood could beat (and would have possibly last season). From there Beechwood has Fairdale (on the way up -- with some true athletes), Somerset (should rebound nicely with all the youth coming back), Not sure on Paintsville. Then add SK, Dixie and Cov Cath--all common opponents -- that Beechwood will play just as well if not better than Highlands will against that group. (I get the questions about losing Cam -- but if this young man comes to Beechwood -- they are going to be extremely difficult to deal with in the same spirit as last year). So to finish things up -- the schedule -- not really that different if at all -- and a much better chance to play in a state championship. Coaching Staffs: Beechwood (by a bigger margin than people probably realize). Academics: Close -- but I am a homer -- so hard to beat Beechwood there. The more I think about it ... why not Beechwood over Highlands? The player is already established -- he will play a really similar schedule -- shouldn't hurt his college opportunities (Beechwood has probably had more high level college guys over the last 5-6 years than HHS). Deep run in the playoffs? Beechwood has a ton of young and returning talent ... just not sure how or why Highlands would be a better choice at this point (especially since he is going to be a senior).
  22. Confirmed today by someone within the CCH program, Zion Mason left CCH and has transferred to Princeton. According to them, he has been practicing with Princeton for a month now
  23. The reason Tommy left was for a nearly 30K pay raise ... I am sure he understood the differences between Colerain and West ... But your comment here doesn't speak to why Tommy left. It had a lot more to do with money than the talent between both schools. I get what you are saying about Colerain talent vs West ... West will obviously continue to grow and will continue to carry on the success they are currently experiencing under Tommy ... But let's be honest ... West was a train wreck before Tommy got there and will most likely turn back into a train wreck once Tommy leaves (unless West finds another coach with similar attributes to Tommy). People across the river have been saying for years that Colerain's talent would dry up. It hasn't. Colerain still has talent ... But Cut isn't Tommy. If Tommy would have gotten 25% of what West threw out at him ... We would still be saying Tommy and Colerain in the same breath. With that said ... As long as these players go into the situation with their eyes open -- they will be okay. They do need to realize that they are going to most likely be lower on the depth chart than they are used to.
  24. I’ve been hearing Zion Mason has left CovCath and is rumored to be going to Highlands. Can anyone close to CCH confirm these rumors?
