Is this what most people expected!  Surprises?

The top four in 2A is clearly the top four, beyond that nothing matters.  As far as the order, the RPI is always funky, especially to start.

Based on talent I think the top 4 are in the correct order. Based on results I don’t know how I would rank 2-4 but I definitely think LCA is the best team and they have proved it so far.

What’s the top 4 teams biggest weakness? For Beechwood I would say tackling and lack of depth.

As long as LCA and Mayfield stay one and two...they will meet in state championship game which is the game I want to see the most. LCA offense against Mayfields defense especially the passing n if that don't work then see if LCA can run...what I'm trying to say imo LCA has the best offense and Mayfield has the best defense. Come on December can't wait..

I don't put a lot of stock in the first RPi standings. There will certainly be movement. I don't pretend to know the way it all works (opponents opponents win %), but remaining on the top 4's schedules are:

LCA - 1 3A, 1 1A

Mayfield - 1 6A

Beechwood - 1 4A (this week, in a game they could very well lose)

OC - 2 6As

I agree that LCA is the most talented team, but I'm not sure if it matters when using RPi

Going on the team I follow (OC) - Apollo and DC are likely to have 1 win between them (whoever wins their matchup), but OHS is currently 1-3, but likely to win out from here. Greenwood and North Hardin (should the Aces win) are likely to provide good records. So, really who knows.

Gives us something to discuss until it all pans out.

Mayfield would have to be the trenches. They have struggled to run the ball and stop the run this year at times because they are outmatched on the line. LCA I would say if they have a weakness it would be pass defense but I could be wrong on that one. And I know absolutely nothing about OCath.

Mayfield has 2 6A teams left on the schedule. OCath plays Henderson this week and Mayfield plays them the next so those games could tell you a little bit about where those teams stack up against each other. OCath does get them at home and Mayfield has to travel to Henderson but either way, same opponent.

I would also say that about LCA but the coaching staff is doing an amazing job on defense. It was a combination of youth and the offenses they played early. They have the athletes, they just did not have much experience at DB. That is changing. I’ve seen the DB’s come a long way from week 1. I think they will only get better as the year progresses. Their front 6 are as good as any in 2A.

I think any of the top 4 could beat each other on a given night. I think the RPI #1 is bigger than any year since the RPI has been in existence.
