I’ll be there this coming weekend to support and watch Mayfield’s 6th grade take on Ryle and Mayfield’s 8th grade take on CAL in the state semifinals.

I would think BW would rather go to OCath than to the winner of the LCA/Mayfield game. I could be wrong though.

Pretty sad crowd for a game like this at War Memorial. The Central coaching staff has been louder than Mayfield’s entire fanbase. I get it’s Halloween and a lot of people took their kids trick or treating but I was expecting a little better.

I agree. No way to really definitively separate any of the top 5, even after a full regular season, until we see it play out in November/December.

I think any of the top 5 would rather play Somerset at the Briar Patch than play any of the other 5 at home.

They pulled off the biggest upset of the year last year when they beat Madisonville but I see this one being another running clock for the Cardinals. It will be Mayfield’s first home game in over a month.

Pretty wild that the #3 team statewide is going to have to travel 4 hours in the 3rd round.

I’m definitely in the consensus in that I really hope the Ads can make a game out of this but I just don’t see it happening. I’m guessing LCA will dominate in the trenches and have a much larger plethora of solid players than does Danville. I think this one will be a running clock. I’ll go 52-14 LCA.

There is no reason Beechwood should be playing up. 3A is weaker than 2A other than the one outlier being the mighty CAL. Beechwood would have to play up 2 classes to achieve what you are getting at by saying that. That’s unnecessary.

I wonder which rivalries are the most even as far as wins go. I know Mayfield and Paducah are pretty even for having played well over 100 times. Which others?

That’s another thing about RPI is the margin of victory is not taken into account. Whether you lose by 1 or lose by 70, a loss is a loss.

Good Lord! Bell County RBs sure know how to put up an impressive stat line!

We’re not saying that they’re just flat out not trying. We’re saying that these tight games and the loss has way more to do with Paducah’s level of play being way below their capabilities than it has to do with their competition being much better than when they played their best game a month ago. I’m not saying that the kids aren’t trying at all but the team as a whole is not coming into these games with any urgency or chip on their shoulder. It’s like the team is just on cruise control right now. And no Madisonville didn’t “just get lucky.” They are a good team but Paducah literally only scored 2 more points on MNH than Graves County did and Graves’ offense is horrendous.

Thank you @jeff jackson for letting me know I’m not absolutely crazy when I’m saying the outcome of these games is way more about Paducah’s level of play vastly dropping off than it is about the level of competition they are playing.

Did no one on this thread watch the PT/Mayfield game? PT was unbelievable that game. That team on that night is who PT is supposed to be and should be. Do you really not think they have played on a much lower level since that night? Especially on offense? You are all trying to say that Logan County is the best team they have played and that is simply not true. Logan County beat a mediocre at best Hart County team by 4 points. They didn’t even put up 20 points in that game. They beat McCracken County by 17 while Mayfield and PT put a running clock on them. Mayfield put a running clock on Graves County. Graves County took Madisonville to OT. The same Madisonville that beat Paducah. This whole situation is not about who Paducah is playing. Mayfield is hands down the best team they have played. Paducah is just vastly underachieving over the past 4 weeks. Is every team they play coming into the game as if it is their Super Bowl? Probably so. But on the flip side Paducah is not coming into these games looking for blood. There’s an obvious problem there.
