If Mayfield uses their imagination and gets things figured out I most definitely think they have more weapons than anyone in the state in their class. Does that make them the best team? Still no in my mind. I think LCA is a step ahead of the other big 3 but I think Mayfield is a step ahead of the other 2.

I haven’t ever really questioned the staff decisions or strategies.  They do a great job year in and year out fitting the pieces together.  But every year is different and I’ll agree it’s taking them longer to figure it out.  I’d also agree our O-line isn’t as good as last year or years past.  I like Starks running inside.  Dumas needs a Sproles role where we he gets it on the edge.  If I’m passing, I throw in this order:  

1.  Biggers

2.  Dabney

3.  Morris/Hoover/Kirby

First two are the best playmakers.  The last three are young, yet have had spurts of brightness and can all make big plays.  Just have to be a little more consistent.

I thought Mayfield D underwhelmed in Graves game, Hoptown was terrible so hard to tell, and they played their best defensive game of the year against PT, just came up a few plays short.  They need to continue getting better on that side of the ball.  Still not good enough.

2 LCA

3. Beechwood 

4 Mayfield 

If this holds true:

3rd round in west will be Mayfield  at LCA

4th round semis OCath vs #4 seed and Beechwood at LCA

As much as I would love to see this true. Mayfield still has Henderson at Henderson and Catholic hasn’t had it’s bye week. Lots of football left and opponents for each team have to keep winning for all 4 schools. 

If Owensboro Catholic wins out, they should end #1 in RPI despite their strength of schedule being the worst of the top 4.

Both O Cath and LCA have really weak district opponents. If O Cath wins that last game against a 6A North Hardin, they will get more points than LCA beating 1A Raceland so that should seal #1 in RPI for Owensboro Catholic.

Mayfield gets the best boost in RPI out of district play but I don't think it will be enough to push them ahead Owensboro Catholic or LCA in RPI. That sets up a rematch in the round 3 between LCA and Mayfield, this time at LCA. The winner of that plays Beechwood in the semifinals. LCA should host if they win over Mayfield and home field is to be decided if that semifinal game is between Beechwood and Mayfield.

The second best team in 2A in the east is Shelby Valley. That will be Owensboro Catholic's semifinal opponent.

I also agree it will.

I'm fairly sure Mayfield could have gotten a game, they would have to travel a far piece. This could bite them in the butt.

So OC does end up having a cake walk to the finals if they win out? I think that might hurt them in the preparation department.

The eye test says LCA is the best team. But having to run Mayfield then Beechwood then OCath.  To me even with a cakewalk any of the other 3 can get to finals.  It’s Ocaths best shot ever.

I honestly believe Mayfield would beat OC a couple of touchdowns, home or away.

I also believe Mayfield will lose to LCA if they play them at LCA, which they will. It would take a supreme effort to beat them up there.

Apollo, Daviess Co. Owensboro and Henderson have to win games. 
 

I can see LCA jumping ahead of them. 
CAL, Lex Cath, BG are going to continue to roll. All 3 were beaten by LCA.

That LCA defense looks a little bit suspect, I'm guessing Mayfield will be able to make it a shootout--anything can happen then.
