  1. This year is a new 2 year schedule cycle, so this years schedule was set this past offseason, and Sebastian started the majority of the games last season as well, so it’s not like he’s inexperienced. No jealousy from the Bluebloods here, beat a good team and they will earn the respect they deserve.
  2. Beechwood all time is 616-272-7 17 State Titles 5 Runners-Up 5 Undefeated Seasons This is the 80th season of Beechwood Football
  3. I’m also old enough to remember when Boone County was a state powerhouse, those days are long gone!! Does beating them classify as a good win this year as well? I’m sorry I’m not impressed with Lloyd’s resume up to this point in the season. NCC is 3-4, Bethlehem is a top 10 1A team in a really down 1A that is a 2 horse race with Pikeville and Raceland and maybe Campbellsville being able to make some noise. The rest of the wins are against Brossart, Newport, winless Holmes, and district opponent winless Pendleton Co. If Lloyd keeps it close against Lex Cath, then I will change my opinion of them, until then, I need to see them compete with a quality opponent before I believe they are for real this year. I will say, they are definitely improved from a couple years ago, but we shall see if they are ready for prime time on Friday.
  4. The Tomato Can Tour finally comes to an end this week. When Bethlehem or New Cath has been your toughest opponent year to date, then you haven’t played anyone any good. Lloyd may be able to keep the score down because they will run the ball and try to control the clock, but this may resemble when Rocky fought Clubber Lang the first time after Mick let him defend his title against a bunch of has beens, and he finally had to fight someone with a pulse.
  5. I would love to see if someone else caught it but I’m almost 100% sure on Beechwood’s delay of game call, on 4th and 6 from around the CCH 25, that the back judge only counted to 3 before he threw the flag. Can anyone verify?
  6. When it comes to RPI .... the district schedule is where things get really interesting.
  7. Clay is doing a great job this season (and last) ... I am not sure we can hand the accuracy title to Clay just yet (it is also hard to compare based on the key players surrounding each, the schedule, etc). By my count Hergott was pretty accurate as well: 2020: 73% Completion Percentage 2021: 68% Completion Percentage. Clay is at 71% right now ...so it should be fun to see how things shake out. Both are great dudes who sell out heart and soul and define the meaning and philosophy of Beechwood Football. As VOR states ... completely different players. Should be fun seeing how things play out.
  8. For Conner, in 1983 (not sure if it started in 83 -- I know the 80 team that lost in the state championship had the Wishbone C) they used the "Cougars" sticker similar to the old Washington State "Cougars" sticker -- on a white helmet, the sticker was blue, then a big red stripe down the middle with smaller blue stripes on each side of the red stripe. Blue facemask as well.
  9. Beechwood will be fine. They have a smaller than normal roster, with 9 guys going both ways. As always, they’re slugging it out these first 5 weeks with teams that platoon, which this year is more of a challenge due to depth. Dixie is a good football team. They may be a little undisciplined at times but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they’re big, athletic and physical. Last night, Brauch Rice showed why he is one of the top players, not only in NKY, but the entire state. Miami is getting a steal in that one.
  10. Beechwood ain’t Scott….Camels stepped up in class and got exposed! Tigers threw the ball at will tonight.
  11. Beechwood defeated Campbell County 45-8. Beechwood’s Freshman are really good.
  12. And all I am saying is there have been 3 years in a row where other teams with "more talent" shoulda, woulda, coulda ... I think that is a very interesting dichotomy.
  13. And I am pretty sure VOR is talking about Mitchell Berger. The previous season, Mayfield could not stop him. The 2 seasons before that he played key roles in beating the 2 best teams of all time in LCA 2020 and LCA 2021. Pretty sure he could play at a high of level in college football (and is playing big time baseball). Robinson obviously was very good ... but Berger was the best player on the field for Beechwood last year.
  14. Serious question ... is anyone concerned for the lack of defense by both teams? I certainly understand the excitement. As a fan, I would be extremely concerned about the defenses, or lack thereof.
  15. That was either the 1990 or 1991 season (pretty sure it was 1990)
  16. For Conner ... 1990 through 1995 were plain white helmets with blue facemasks.
  17. That’s Jimmy Sandfoss leading the way for his cousin, Rob Sandfoss. They used these helmets from around 91 till the mid 90’s.
  18. They played their freshman and sophomore years at Somerset, before they left for the prep school.
  19. Highlands was the first to get field turf in 2002, and Beechwood followed them with their first turf field in 2003. I think Cov Cath got their first in either 2003 or the following year. I’m pretty sure those 3 schools were the first in NKY to get turf.
  20. Good points here. Who is the best person to take on this task as head coach ...we are obviously a long time away ... but a great head coach brings St. Henry up to speed quickly. If St. Henry gets the right guy this deal could take off pretty quick. Anyone have any thoughts on "wishlist" or "dream" head coaches?
  21. Sorry, not personal ... just didn't understand your point of view ... and it was a little different than I have heard from others in the area. Traveling around the state, there are some people I have met who throw Beechwood into the Public VS Private debate as private. Just thought it was an interesting thought since you are from the area and know that Beechwood is a public school.
