  1. Fantastic schedule. It’s really unfortunate Beechwood has to play 5 district games, while majority only play 3….. really dings the RPI.
  2. I’d say it’s obvious who they have their sights on……right?
  3. I’m hearing rumors of an OL/DL having transferred in from a pretty prominent program in Ohio. I was told he’s in the neighborhood of 6’6 and 260.
  4. I hate Boone County ... and I always will. With that said ...I am disappointed that the one guy I thought would get it done is no longer there. Coach Warner brought some fun back ... and certainly made progress. This school lunch stuff is bunk. All this type of talk does is implant excuses in kids heads. There is talent there. There are some great kids there. There first thing that needs to happen is quit giving kids and worst still .. Adults reasons to make excuses. Where do things go from here? Current staff member? There are good dudes there. Where in the world is Dave Eckstein? Now that would be interesting! Either way ... who is next? It may not be the best job in the world ... but I refuse to believe it is the worst.
  5. It is only one degree of separation from EE .... right?
  6. Any chance Bryson Warner is heading to Alexandria?
  7. He was at Lloyd and Turpin before he ended up at Cooper. Fairly sure Lloyd was no more than one year ...Turpin was at least a 2 to 3 years. Then Cooper ... you are correct on the return to Beechwood in 2016.
  8. Then quit smoking ... or better yet ...quit throwing matches in a mud puddle. Guess who didn't hate the uniforms ... the KIDS ...which is all that matters.
  9. Nope ... Coach B retired from his assistant principal and AD role at the end of 2005. He coached at Lloyd for a year or so, Turpin for a few years then he was at Cooper before he came back to Beechwood in 2016 (I may have the order wrong at the beginning -- but I think I have it correct). (Darrick Brilz coached the O-Line during that period). Ben Zimmerman took over both spots that Coach B held down at the beginning of Coach Rash's tenure. I am sure that Coach Rash and Coach B still spoke frequently during that time period.
  10. Great post ... Coach B wasn't on Coach Rash's original staff. Coach Rash's first season was 2006. Coach B didn't come back to Beechwood until 2016.
  11. Did some talking yesterday ... and felt like it was worth a follow up. Coach B is one of the best human beings (and coaches) that I have ever met. I think Coach Volker's communication spoke to the fact that regardless of where things ended up -- he and the rest of the Beechwood family have the utmost respect for Coach B. If I understand things correctly -- this happened over 3 weeks ago -- and is just making it out now. I think that says something about how things were handled. I seriously doubt that Coach Burnett is close to being finished coaching -- I hope he keeps right on trucking. His impact on the program is at the absolute highest level -- and that won't change where ever he ends up. (He was gone for 10 years before he came back in 2016 -- I don't remember Coach Rash getting similar treatment). With that said -- I think there are a few things to remember. Coach Volker kept every member of the coaching staff from Coach Rash's staff -- which still amazes me to this day. I haven't seen any coach do that before. To think that there has been only one change is unheard of IMO. I think to myself often -- I would have brought in at least 3 of my own guys if I was in a similar position. Coach Volker didn't clean house ... and he didn't make any changes until after a full first season. The talk about Coach Volker using Beechwood as a stepping stone is way out there. There is nothing that he has said or done that should warrant that line of discussion about him. People have the right to have their own opinion -- but at this point I just don't see it. When it comes to pay -- I remember a few years back Beechwood salaries were listed publicly in one of the Recorder newspapers. Seeing what Coach Rash made at the time made me wonder how in the world that he could afford to keep doing it. It was a punch in the gut. If Coach Volker is in a similar position -- I immediately understand and get it. At the same time -- it will be handled like Coach Rash ... behind the scenes and out of the public eye.
  12. Yes, I would think this should be year 2 of two year deals for teams. Unless they played in a bowl game, then it could switch up a bit.
  13. According to my boys that played from 2016-2020 and this just isn’t accurate. Coach B has always been on the second bus and always remained on the bus up until the team took the field for warmups. Apparently that wasn’t a secret amongst the players.
  14. I think it is one of the more interesting moves I have seen in a while. Odom's are all great dudes. I haven't really thought of it until this happened ...but Coach Odom's work at SK had a ton to do with how I got to where I am today. Between being introduced to the Odom's by a famous retired coach ... and knowing now that a young and excitable Coach Rash was probably really close by. Kind of amazing to think about how people intersect in your life at key points. I think it is a really cool move. Jobs like this always attract comments like "they need to hire someone young with energy" ...hogwash. Most schools need someone who knows what they are doing. This dude knows what he is doing. Hard to think it could be anything other than good.
  15. Which means absolutely nothing. Noel Rash isn't making that move. I understand at least why his name comes up here ....but retirement is a real thing. Any move made over the next two years needs to to part of a public school retirement plan. No offense .... I think Coach Rash's next move will be bigger than St. Henry. Back to the topic I know Odom has coached more recently than it sounds. He was an assistant at West before Tommy Bolden came (I think I have my timing right but I could be a year or so off)
  16. I watched their semifinal VS Bell ... seemed like a great atmosphere. Coach has the players buying in .... but heck ... the fans! And that is another Hart County _____ ____!
  17. Coach Rash has a job at Holmes ....and I am confident that he isn't in the running. I could see Coach Rash being a DC at a number of schools in the area, across the river or heck anywhere. I don't think he would want to be a head coach again ...at least for the foreseeable future. It would be interesting to see if any of the high profile schools in the area will reach out eventually. His resume could definitely make most coaches a little nervous to bring on staff. At the same time I am not sure you could find a guy better than him to bring on. I think there are probably I lot of guys who would love to ask him to be on staff ...but won't even ask because they don't think he would be interested. He is one of a very few men who has the humility to stay in the background and be happy and helpful being a great DC, Assistant or behind the scenes mentor. It will be interesting to see if any local schools reach out this coming season. The retirement/maxing out part would make things a little tougher ....but it isn't impossible. So no ...at the very least St. Henry would be a huge longshot/surprise.
  18. Context is important ... If he spent 90% of the time in the banquet talking about the kids ...no issue. In a way I am impressed as heck. It needs to be said. Not sure if this is the right time or not ... but that's kind of the beauty of it. It wasn't addressed to specific people that the average person is aware of. At the same time ... if I already had a questionable opinion of this guy ... more reason to dislike. It is pretty interesting when you consider how Pulaski deals with transfers. It was already bad before. How will they handle it now? I have a feeling not much will change if 3+ kids show up in the morning to transfer to Southwest.
  19. Wow, following along here. A Beechwood coach told me they were opening up with Pulaski County at the Corbin bowl game next year. Should be a fun one!!!
  20. In 2016 at WKU, they had teams getting dressed in the baseball hitting facility, that didn’t have restrooms or running water, and also in the basketball arena, that’s a good 2-3 minute walk. Unless WKU has addressed the locker room issues, no way it should be moved back there.
  21. Yep .... he was pretty good alright .... if I remember correctly he made it to State in track in the high jump as a freshman. Made the game winning shot to beat Holy Cross in the regional finals in basketball his junior season. (After dealing with a bad football injury his entire sophomore year which prevented him from playing any sport that season). I still think his best sport was football. Pretty sure he could dunk in 6th grade barely being 6'0. Ended up playing roundball at Morehead for a season before moving to a different school. Most importantly Ty is an exceptional young man. Mom and Dad have raised him well ....it is really hard to believe that he is 14 years old. While his best sports are football and baseball ... he also plays basketball. Funny thing is ... his best sport would probably be track. He could be the type to score 30 - 40 points a meet. Great young man ...great family.
  22. And Erdman, Cusic, Flaherty as well as the rest of the 18 returning starters. Both Fryman and Erdman both went 1000+ in receiving this season. Cusic had 700+. Flaherty flies under the radar ... but he had a solid year rushing and receiving this year as well. There are some talented kids in the pipeline coming up. That combined with how the season ended should make for an interesting 2024 season.
