The Polar Bears (7-4) head to Jackson to take on Breathitt County (9-2) in the second round of the 2A playoffs.  Bracken County is 0-2 in the second round (2017, 2024) of their 22-year history.  They faced Breathitt County in the first round of the 2023 playoffs, losing 46-26.  Last year, they lost to Somerset 28-14.  Daulton Tarter's injury status is still questionable.

Massey Ratings predict a 42-21 Breathitt County win.

Is Tarter going to play? If he is going to play and fully healthy, then I think this will be a close one with Breathitt still winning. If Tarter doesn’t play, and or isn’t fully healthy if he does. Then I think Breathitt comes close to a running clock. 

Give me the polar bears in a close in. It’s going to take everything they got but I have a hunch the boys from Bracken sneak off with an upset.

Bracken has proven to be strong in the mud.  No turf in Brooksville.

I don’t see how Bracken wins this game with Tarter, much less without him. The Bracken offense is very one dimensional, and I just don’t see how they score enough points to keep this one close. I think Breathitt should win this by 3-4 TDs.
