He’s a really good football player as well. Beechwood and Holy Cross in football are miles apart. I’m sure that may have something to do with why he’s not at Holy Cross.

Cameron Boyd (Jr) had 31 and Cash Harney (8th grade) had 16, including the game winning 3 with about 8 seconds left. Beechwood made Dixie play at a slower pace and was very efficient in the half court game. Kudos to Coach Goetz and the young Tigers. Great win.

Citi isn't abandoning anything. Matter of fact, Citi hasn't owned either building in years. Its been leased back for a long time. Citi has been decreasing their brick/mortar footprint nationally for at least 15 years. Florence, Gray, TN and Jacksonville are still strategic locations that are not going anywhere (there are a few others but they are not as knee deep in collections as the three mentioned above). With that said ... The building facing Houston road has been cleared out. Once people come back into the office, Building 2 will be used exclusively. I would think there will be people back in the office mid-year if things get squared away with vivid. Interesting thing through the pandemic is that productivity has been up significantly since everyone moved home (>=25%). Those of us who have been around for a while wonder how long it will last .. But our people are working hard and have acclimated their selves to this change quickly (it took me about a year to get comfortable working at home ... That was 13+ years ago). The standard non officers got through the changes a lot quicker than I did! From my perspective, I feel pretty good about our company through the pandemic. The employees health has been put first, and in return the employees have worked hard through the pandemic. Lots of good lately. So, Citi has around 30 more years of massive tax breaks from the state and city-- which are probably the best tax breaks across any site/location in the US. Things are going to be just fine for Citi Florence for many years to come.

Yet they didn't -- do you think that LCA took Beechwood a little too lightly? I could understand that in 2020 -- I absolutely can not understand that in 2021. Did you think that LCA should have had a running clock on Beechwood by halftime? LCA was most certainly the real deal--but I can't help but think that the approach vs Beechwood worked against LCA. You mentioned coaches at LCA -- Coach Rash doesn't have any coaches in house--all of his assistants are paraprofessionals as well, many of which again are volunteers. Beechwood also did not have 2 of their better players available #6 -- who I am sure LCA remembers from last year and #26 who did a great job at RB this season. So again--not trying to call LCA out--but they don't own exclusive rights on paraprofessional coaches, injured athletes, etc. I also never heard or read where Coach Rash made statements where the state championship was the only option for their season (again--read that in the Herald Leader on the Saturday after the win against Middlesboro). Was that really the only acceptable option there? As I said last night--I think that took all the pressure off Beechwood and caused LCA to play extremely tight in the first half. So tight in fact that a team that their fans vocally stated would most likely be under a running clock by halftime ... was out 20 to 0 pretty quick. In the past, Beechwood has been hammered on this site and others when expectations are not met. That is part of the deal. But at the same time--I didn't see Beechwood take the approach publicly that it all or nothing and I definitely did see them try to poke the bear and give other teams plenty of ammunition by acting like they had complete control of whether or not they won the state championship. I am still baffled with the thought that people from all over ... those who had actually seen both teams play in person and on film thought that LCA was just going to roll all over Beechwood. Is it arrogance? Honestly it feels like it -- and I truly think that type of thought process benefits the kids, coaches at Beechwood significantly.

Sorry -- I ran off at the mouth for way too long in two posts without ever really making my point-- LCA had the highest RPI, the most BCS recruits in AA, played the toughest schedule, had the best coaching staff, etc. And they also went out there in the public and made it clear that the only acceptable option was winning the state championship. Beechwood, not so much. No one expected them to win (outside of a very small, select group), no coaches or parents in the media saying state championship all or nothing. At the end of the day -- as a coaching buddy said to me after week 10: "Beechwood is playing with house money--all the pressure will be on the team who has publicly stated the the only thing acceptable is a state championship". When you look at how the beginning of the game began -- with Beechwood jumping out 20 to 0 -- to me it feels like my buddy may have been right. At the time -- I didn't process the thought. But as it got closer -- and now that it is done -- I don't think I could argue that point even if I wanted to.

Interesting thought--even in the worst of times--LCA, for me anyway, has always been a team that had the ability to make things extremely difficult for any team that they played. That may have to do with the fact that Beechwood was still in Class A up until 2019 -- where I admittingly didn't pay as much attention to them as I do now.

No .. not so much. Whether it was that ... or some of the other ones ... for instance -- there is a quote in the Herald Leader after the Semi Finals (I would copy/cut/paste but I have used up my free looks this month), there was a comment along the lines of Winning the state championship is the only thing that matters and there is no acceptable outcome other than that (again--it is definitely there). With what LCA accomplished this past season ... with that group of players -- I am just not real sure how you put that type of pressure on high school kids. At the same time--I guess I don't understand how or why there were so many people (not just LCA fans) that were so insistent on the thought that they could not be beat and anything less than a state championship would not be acceptable--- to now -- well the tide has shifted back to a general undertone of "LCA players are the best in the state and by having 4 BCS signees .. we are better than everyone else" (I admit that I have a chip on my shoulder--but there are quite a few people who share that opinion). With that said--I do think that "Leave No Doubt" is a bit ... "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" as my Mom would say. Walking into Commonwealth on 12/03/2021 ... there are LCA fans right in front of me making the statement "This should be a running clock by halftime". Now I am sure that was all in good fun--but I have to wonder -- how could any team walk into a game against someone like Beechwood (especially after last season) and think that a running clock was even a 1 in a million chance? I have found myself thinking numerous times, what in the world did anyone from LCA see on film that made them think they were just going to roll right on through Beechwood without as much as a hiccup? I am 100% sure Beechwood realized what they were up against -- which also speaks to the fact that the Beechwood staff was a little more in tune with how things needed to be handled. My opinion--but I don't think anyone could prove me wrong there either. So at the end of the day -- I really think that the way things were handled made it extremely easy for a team like Beechwood would to scratch their head and say "Really"?? And honestly -- a solid dose of reality would have served LCA better.

This year's LCA team was loaded with talent. Multiple players with BCS Offers ... Exceptionally talented to the point where many felt that they were unbeatable. With that said--do LCA Fans/Supporters see this as an exceptional year ... or something different? Admittingly, as a Red and White Tiger fan -- It was a lot of fun going through the season with most people outwardly broadcasting that no one had a chance to knock off the Eagles. A few statements: This season -- "Leave No Doubt" and lines was a constant message from the program. LCA rightfully had the highest RPI of all classes and easily made it through their schedule. From wlqv in the preseason: "“Us seniors kinda have a mindset, we’re leaving no doubt,” said Moore. “And that’s the mindset that we’re going to carry for the rest of the season.” From the Courier Journal back in January: "“(I’m) happy to get back out there,” he said. “But sad it’s my last year with the program. Our motto this season is leave no doubt. We got to the state championship game, (and) it didn’t go how we wanted. But our goal is to get back and leave no doubt that we’re the best team in 2A.” Again--nothing wrong with having a rally cry to fight for and believe in, but did that help their cause? Or did this set up a ticking time bomb in Fort Mitchell? (I will give you my thoughts later on). It seems like most people thought that the 2020 State Championship for Beechwood was a fluke--(obviously I disagree--and I would say that after 2021 -- there is proof that 2020 wasn't a fluke). The helmets and shoulder pads have been put away until next season -- how do LCA people ultimately evaluate and rate this season? Success? (It certainly wasn't a bad season--and there is a ton that LCA should be happy about). Or something completely different?

Come on man, you know everything about the kid and now you know nothing about the kid. What number was Smith? I know they had a couple different kids line up at QB on the film I saw.

Yes, get used to the name. He will be fully unleashed next year and full time at his natural position of running back. I’m sure he will still be in the slot on some passing situations, but he will be the primary ball carrier, and the dude just runs violent! The Mayfield game was just a glimpse of what Mitchell is capable of.

Oh man, you must be new to the area. Just ask around Walton and you’ll quickly get your answer. But back to the kid, he’s a phenomenal athlete and a threat to score every time the ball is in his hands.

If this is the same Jackson Smith that played his freshman year at Beechwood, he is a really good athlete. He struggles throwing the football but he is very dangerous with his legs. Forget his arm and legs, his biggest issue is the baggage he comes with. The freshman QB at Beechwood, Clay Hayden, will be one to keep an eye on. The kid can flat sling it and will have a lot of weapons to lean on.

Some things are much bigger than football...thoughts and prayers to the people of Mayfield and the surrounding area. It sounds like the storms did major damage.

Are you picking them as the favorite because of what they return or because of what everyone else loses? That team I saw in Ft. Mitchell was extremely small and not very fast. I’m honestly curious as to what makes you think they’re the favorite?

Beechwood had almost as many yards passing as South Warren had. They can throw it just fine, but lost a couple key receivers to season ending injuries and had another playing under the weather on Friday. Rode the horse and ran the clock and got the win, and in the end, that’s all that matters.

Dixon had an unbelievable game in the finals, and for sure you tip your hat to him, but his team lost 6 games this year and they beat a 7 loss team in the finals. Hergott led an undefeated team and beat another undefeated team that was ranked higher in the finals. Sivori also beat an undefeated team in the finals. I think it is a 2 horse race between Hergott and Sivori, with Dixon and Gillis in the mix. I think Hergott outplaying Xavier Brown in the finals eliminates Brown from the discussion. Humphreys would be the sleeper based on stats, but getting beat in the 3rd round hurts his chances.

Between Longmire and Patterson, who are arguably the two best athletes on the field regardless of their opponent, they had 55 touches COMBINED all season!!! That’s criminal.
