On behalf of the folks here in Mason County, thank you for your kind words about Coach Buchanan. He is a class act both on and off the field. We in Maysville have seen that since his arrival and I for one am very glad that the rest of the state is getting to see this also. He cares about his guys and works his tail off to get them in college. They might not go to D1 schools but they get a chance to get an education and continue to play football. In my opinion if a coach does that he is a winner no matter what the outcome is on Friday night. Thanks again SS. If you ever get a chance to get down Maysville way on a Friday night please join us for some Royal football.

I would like to see that team play that is for sure. They would be tough. As with your other list, I can't argue with this one at all.

Hard to argue with that list. Maysville's 47 team won the state championship and the 48 team was runner up.

Wonder if he would like a ride back to Louisville? J/K :lol: Russell will once again be a major force in their class. (AAA) Ivan and his staff are just unbelievable. Seems like they never have a down year and just reload every season. That is also a testament to the kids. There is no magic that is out there to make a good football program. It is just good ole hard work. And the folks in Flatwoods have seen the benefit of hard work.

Unless there is something they have told Coach Kelsch that we don't know, I am not real sure if I would take the job the way Nicholas County has drug their feet. Just my opinion.

The Mason County teams of 2003 & 2004 would make a good one. Not just the championship and runner-up finish but all the personal things for the coaching staff that went along with it. Everyone remembers that Paul Andrews hit the shot, but, he also hit a huge free throw with 3 seconds to go to help beat Virgie in the semifinals 61-60. So he did much more than just that one shot. Carr Creek would be a good one as well as Cuba. The Clay County-Ballard battles in the late 80's would be great. Maysville beating heavily favored Louisville Central in 1972.

You hit the nail on the head with these two statements. The summer events are the ones that really get the recruiters attention. Then after that it is the state tournament. If you can be in both of these events more than likely you have hit the daily double. PK was a good player last year as a junior, but, I think he really came around to the type of player he could be this season.

Ripley OH will be the fourth school in this tournament again this year.

Yes they will play in the Mt. Dew Classic

Yes they usually have a high school choir sing it prior the National Anthem.

And one of the finer gentlemen in the region also. Always a pleasure to see him.

Wouldn't surprise me for several reasons. Tony is very personable and can really be a huge asset to a program. Plus he knows the game and does a great job with the kids. Plus the fact that once coaching gets in your blood you have a VERY hard time walking away from it.

According to an article in the Lexington Herald Leader today Turley has stepped down from Manual. He still owns his home in Lexington and will reside there while he is part time teacher at Manual.

Does anyone have any information how the combine went in Columbus this past weekend? I know that Mason County had some players participating and they did very well. Any other schools have players participating?

Lord knows this pains me to say this, I agree 100%. Those two words are the most important no matter where he decides to go. FREE EDUCATION The new staff at Kentucky has already shown that they are interested also.

Never saw Pettigrew play but have to ask this question. Did Pettigrew have anyone with the talent of Mackey, Hundley or Lee on his team? I think those individuals had a little something to do with the Cardinals getting out of the district. It was not just Walls playing for Scott County.

By no means am I taking anything away from Mackey, he is a tremendous player, but it will be based on the play next year. Not what was done this season. With that said Mackey very well could be Mr. Bball next year. I would agree on Henderson. He is a VERY nice player but has not gotten the pub that Mackey and Miller have. As far as Hopson I don't see him as a first team all state, unless he changes a lot of things next season.

Same here jarhearme. I talked to Bart back in mid January and he hinted at this to me. Even openly said that he may go one more year and then stay on as softball coach as well as his current postion. Hate to see him go. Always a class act both on and off the court. Just a great teacher of the game.
