Cov Cath is the best team in the state right now.

Cov Cath is really good. My only gripe is that Beechwood gives up on the run way to quick. They have a good line but want to pass 80% of the the time. They were about 70% run first couple of games and then abandoned the run.

The offense for BW will have to move the ball and not have the defense on the field all night. Against Corbin they only ran 31 plays compared to over 60 for Corbin. They will have to find a way to contain McGinness and cover the big receivers. Tough task for Beechwood. Hopefully it’s a competitive game and both teams come out healthy.

If Pikeville plays with Belfry or even wins, they will be a force to be reckoned with. I think Belfry might be the best team in 3a.

Lol that is pretty funny. Look no one in KY, accept Scott County, and maybe Male and Cov Cath, would have beat any of the teams Trinity has faced, and to be honest the games would not be competitive. Trinity lost three of the games by like a total of 10 or 11 points. Trinity scrimmaged Ryle and beat them by a gazzilon points and would absolutely crush SK, Boone County and Ryle in real games this year. Male, Scott County and Cov Cath are probably the only teams in KY that can beat Trinity. So in 6a right now it should be 1. Male, 2. Scott County, 3. Trinity.

Have not had any injuries so far. As healthy as can be. Cov Cath is an animal. Beechwood will show up.

You may be right but you can pretty much say that about everyone in NKY right now. I noticed Beechwood was rolling Cov Cath in the late 90’s, early 2000’s and then they didn’t play for a while. Anyone know why?

I think the biggest problem for Beechwood last night, was not the lack of stopping the ball, but moving it. BW held Corbin scoreless until 2 minutes left in the first half. Beechwood struggled to move the chains and was on defense a ton. Would be interested to know how many plays Corbin ran vs. how many Beechwood ran.

I think this will be the best defense Cov Cath will have faced, but will be a tall task for Beechwood. Cov Cath is loaded and well coached. Beechwood will show up and play hard. Will have to contain Casey and get pressure on the QB.

Refs were fine and human. Had a few bad calls both ways. The one in the end zone on 4th down just came at a bad time, nothing malicious, but don’t give the refs a reason to throw a flag. Beechwood played hard and had a ton of guys going both ways and were tired. Beechwood also made too many mistakes, penalties and costly turnovers. The QB has a bright future but needs to get rid of the ball quicker. Guys are open when they break on the routes and the QB will get better seeing that. Corbin has a very nice team and coach seems like a classy guy. Good luck to both moving forward. Estep is a great athlete as well. Several times he could have been sacked and used athleticism to escape.

I agree on the 5a championship game participants, but I just don’t see anyone beating Cov Cath. They are just rolling. They had a running clock on a good Ohio team in the beginning of the 3rd QTR. They are just loaded.

Yes he will be. Once he gets a little more comfortable and sees the field and his receivers better, he and Beechwood’s offense will take off. He has the physical abilities and is a very good athlete.

Yes Noah is really steady. Only plays center and quietly gets it done. He is a smart kid and keeps the rest of the line in the right spots.

Not sure. I think Beechwood is very experienced. I also think they are fresh and healthy. They have a bunch of kids who were big parts of the last two state championship teams and want to show they are one of the best teams in Kentucky this year. They will play hard for 4 quarters. Corbin is the 2nd best team they will play this year in the regular season and they know that. It should be a great game.

Beechwood always plays its best players both ways. They sub freely though. They are pretty deep in both the senior and junior classes. I think 7 are starting both ways but they don’t get too tired. They are healthy and in really good shape. Should be a fun game.

I am looking forward to this one. Corbin seems to be rolling so far and The QB looks great. I think he is going to UK for baseball, correct? Does Corbin have any guys go both ways? Last year it seems they two platooned.

Why not? They are in the same area and SK usually is one of the better NKY teams. Cov Cath plays Ryle, Campbell and Beechwood, so why not play SK?

Beechwood has two D 1 lineman and three, three year starters. They have have dominated so far this year. I agree they will at least end the running clock deal and think it will be a pretty good game.

I think you mean Hollingsworth. Highlands JV has rolled everyone. I think Highlands will be on the uptick soon. They have some talent at the lower levels.

That’s probably right. Beechwood looked really good before the weather. Their line opens some holes. Looking forward to Corbin next week.
