Excellent thought out and written article. I hope every fan could read this for their own teams. I think we the fans forget sometimes how much our presence and support mean for these kids. Again, great write up.

They are strong in many ways and arguably the best BG team ever. With that said, every team has some weak points. On defense: CCH must have skilled, athletic secondary to win this possible matchup. BG's receivers are quick, run good/disciplined routes and have hands. Their QB (Payne) has stats to speak to his effectiveness. CCH must get pressure on Clark Payne. This is probably most important. CCH needs to keep Carothers in between the tackles and have their linebackers plug the holes. Do not let him get the edge! Offensively: CCH has to contain BGs DEs and take advantage of BGs shorter secondary (with exception to Vito). CCH needs to establish a run game to keep BG honest and have athletic tall receiving core they can really do some damage. I know NOTHING about CCH but alot about the Purples so this is all I can tell you. Are they a very strong team? Yes. Unbeatable? Nope.

Congratulations SW. You all are turning into the high school football version of the comeback cats. That team has some serious resolve and grit to them. Good luck to the Spartans against FS, going to be a heck of a game!

Is it ridiculous if it worked though? You do what you have to do to win games. If the refs aint callin it then even more reason to keep it up.

CC was just a really good matchup. On defense they have an athletic and disciplined secondary and tough linebackers. They did a good job plugging the holes between the tackles, limiting Deangelo Wilson during periods of the game and got to Clark Payne. On offense they have 3 excellent skill players, Taylor (TB), Comi? #1 (Wr), and some kid that was #2 that was just nasty whether at RB or WR(he ended up getting hurt and hope he is ok). Their QB is big, strong and did a good job at times making things happen. As for the holding, it happened, happened often and seemed intentional. It was, in my opinion, very smart and I would say, seemed to be part of the gameplan. Dingle and Coker coming off the edges HAVE to be checked. If you cannot out maneuver them you get them to the ground however you can and force the refs to make a call. Who cares that they got penalties because this does tire both those DE's out and really helped them. Some can disagree but I was impressed how well the CC oLine did regardless of the penalties. (Alot of this is opinion so take as such) CC is an excellent team who had a strong gameplan. It was a great game and if that defense is returning next year as one fan said above then they are going to be very very good. Awesome job Colonel players and coaching staff on a great season and game. These guys have a lot to proud of!

Cant wait. Love to play Owensboro. Great history/rivalry and great fanbase. Going to be a good game to watch as Owensboro has vastly improved.

I read alot on this thread and I have not seen SW use injuries as an excuse. Spin keeps us updated and most of his talks of injuries were inquired about from other members. That squad has fought tough through a lot of adversity this year and I tip my hat to them.

You aren't kidding. I think anyone who reads them can clearly understand both sides of the coin after reading those two posts. But then again DF and P88 always have good thought out posts.

I too think it would be a great game but the pedigree of teams that Trinity has played and won against is very impressive. As good as BG is this year I would still be incredibly neevous in that game. Wish they would reschedule each other but if it is not going to happen, oh well. Sucks that there is bad blood because I have alot of respect for the Trinity fans and program.

I think he is closing in on being the best QB in BG history. If he keeps this up and adds another ring this year it might be hard to argue. I know some Trent Teelman fans might disagree (I loved him too) but dang this boy is good. Its a fun year. Love watching all these boys. Keep it up Purples!

Excellent hard fought win for FS. I come away from this game yet again impressed with the resolve and determination of this SW team. Injury plagued and they just keep coming. "Next man up" ideaology is obviously working there. Get healthy boys and I think I speak for quite a few people when I say I look forward to a hopeful rematch from these two. Great game to both teams.
