Purple88 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 The Greenwood Gators sitting at 7 and 1 on the season after blowing the doors off Grayson County 63 to 6 last Friday prepare to travel less than 4 miles down Scottsville Road to El Donaldson Stadium to meet the Bowling Green Purples sitting at 8 and 0 on the season and easily defeating a down Barren County squad 50 to 0. Greenwood's only loss was to a fine 4A front-running Franklin Simpson squad. They are led by one of the Gator's best football players in their history in JR QB Jackson Adams, who was already the All-Time leading rusher in Gator history as a Sophomore. This season Adams has rushed just over 100 carries and is 9 yards shy of 1,000 yards with 18 TDs. In the air, Jackson is 12-29 with 3TDs and 2 INTs. Malcolm Johnson is also an undervalued RB for GW and their defense is much improved. The Purples are undefeated but were clearly rusty last Friday and yet won 50-0. So who am I to argue with that. But Barren County is Barren County. Bowling Green has NEVER lost to Greenwood. This will be the 25th meeting between the 2. Last season BG won, but the game was tight and testy in the first half before BG pulled away in the second half. I see it the same way this season. Who you got?
JDEaston Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Excellent analysis @Purple88, thank's for getting this one started!
Dark Horse78 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Not many may say so, but I think this could be a dandy of a game and if I were in the area one I would check out. BG is more flashy, but Greenwood plays tough. Could be a really good football game...but could be a blowout! LOL...who knows with 17-18 year old kids!
Purple88 Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 Excellent analysis @Purple88, thank's for getting this one started! You're welcome JD! Going to be a good game!
Volxtile Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) I think Bowling Green is gonna come out fired up and punch greenwood in the mouth on offense and defense as they haven't had much competition in the past few weeks. As long as the defense forces some three and outs and keeps Greenwood from chipping away at the clock and sustaining drives, BG wins by a large amount. I'm gonna go with BG 49-7 could easily be closer. Greenwood has a great program this year. Edited October 16, 2016 by Volxtile Forgot BG
Adopted Purple Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Greenwood runs the ball and then runs the ball some more. They have attempted only 29 passes all season. They need a passing game to compete with the Purples. I think the Purples get a running clock in the 3rd quarter.
00Tyler10 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Unless Greenwood chooses to eat up clock, I'm saying this one is not even close. Purples by 4+ touchdowns.
Blockbuster Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Greenwood will play ball control, keeping the ball away from the Purples. If the Gators get first downs, it will be close. If they don't, the Purples can win by 21+
LongTimeReader Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Purples continue their win streak against the Gators. Greenwood will keep it close for a quarter or so, but the Purples will have too much for the Gators to keep up. Greenwood has to get a lead early if they want to win. Their offense will be highly effective if they can score early on and control the clock. G'wood - 14 BG - 38
Purple Nation Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 IMO, Greenwood has this year and next year to attempt to get a WIN vs Bowling Green. After Jackson Adams is no longer on campus it will be a long while before they compete again vs the Purples. I also predict that when Adams graduates that the Coach will find greener grass at another school. Although Greenwood has this season and next season to try to break the losing streak vs the Purples it will be a huge uphill climb for them because BG is on top of their game the next couple of seasons. BG is actually a bit banged up on defensive side of ball which will help Adams but it is nearly impossible to run against the Purples for 4 quarters. If you beat BG, you run north, south not east, west. You throw quick screens and get your runners behind your blockers. You try to get first downs more than touchdowns. You keep BG offense off the field. BG will adjust quickly and will shadow Adams all night. Adams will break a couple but BG will break several. 52 -18 Purples
