Purples.

Hat off to Christian County.

Congrats Purples.

Based on the updates thread, this sounded like a battle until late. Congratulations to both teams on impressive seasons and to Bowling Green on advancing.

Who do you play next, Fern Creek?

I think the winner of Greenwood/Owensboro.

Tough game. Christian County came to play. They had a great game plan and really caused the Purples a lot of trouble. Their defense did a great job of pressuring Payne to the point he had almost no time to throw the ball, especially in the first half.

But Coach Wallace and the rest of the coaches had the Purples ready to play the second half. Really have to give a lot props to coach Wallace. There was some great play calling to slow down the pass rush, when Payne had time to throw he was on point. Bg's play makers made it happen.

What shocked me was Christian County turned the ball over a bunch, but BG just couldn't capitalize, especially in the first half. They left a lot of points on the field. But again great by the coaches on having the Purples ready to play the second half.

I will say Christian County's coach said in the paper that basically BG couldn't play two halves of football and implied BG would be tired.

Well he got it backward because Christian County was the one that got wore out in the second half. They didn't quit, but upfront you could tell those guys were done. The Christian County fans next to us thought they won the game at halftime. Kept saying BG was "not that good" After the game I had to tell them I was sorry they lost twice in one season to a team that wasn't very good.

On another note, I've never seen a team blatantly hold the they did. That's one of the main reasons their QB had a lot of time to throw.

Looks like Purples get Owensboro next week.

tu sheay I hope that is correct spelling!

Good luck next week. I have nothing but love for Brandon Smith and will always root for his teams.

Just got home. Purples certainly did not get a running clock and were held in check for a quarter and a half tonight. Good teams find a way to win and we did.

HOWEVER, I tip my hat to Christian County. That was the most pressure our QB has seen in last 2 or 3 seasons. Have to give the D line for Christian lots of credit. They really did play extremely well.

A few key players for Purples tonight:

Kicker Lee Ramsey. Best game of his career and arguably kept our win streak alive

DE Justice Dingle had perhaps his best game as a Purple. 2 blocked punts with a handful of key tackles

CB Vito Tisdale was everywhere tonight. His chasedown to tackle a kid on the 2 yard line was very impressive. His ceiling is so high. Gonna be one of our best players when its said and done.

Coaching staff. You did it again. Christian County played as good as any team has played us in several years in the second quarter (if CC plays like they did in 2nd quarter the entire game, they dethrone Purples and would be state champs). But BG coaches adjust AGAIN and 3rd quarter was all BG. GREAT JOB coaches

Christian County fans: I feel I owe you an apology. We had 3 or 4 fans that were real nuckleheads tonight. Not sure what there problem was. I guess there is some in every crowd but these guys were not a good example for the Purple and Gold tonight. Trust me, most of our fans knew that you guys played great and your kids played hard and deserve credit for their efforts. Great job CC!

First time we got smacked in the face in a while. Glad it woke us up. Have a feeling the Purples coaching staff will get the kids attention this week.

Good game Purples

Side note: Ironically, Jamale Caruthers made his name known across the state his sophomore year at Owensboro with more than 300 yards rushing. Next Friday night when Purples matchup with Red Devils, Caruthers needs 2 scores (7 points) to break alltime scoring record for BGHS. Glad he has chance to do it at home vs the team he loves to match up with. Good luck Jamale!

I don't feel too bad, CC had a some knucklehead fans of their own. Also their team had a bunch as well. Heading into halftime they went out of their way to run over to BG sideline and taunt the Purples as they were on their way in. WRONG move.

Also at the very end some of their players tried to start fights with some BG players, C had several personal foul calls on them in the last minute of the game. I think they had two or three on one play. BG could have scored another one at the end, but was being classy and didn't do it.
