Never heard of a team fans making excuses for a good game. Facts are facts. BG is a great team and won.

Completely agree! Bowling Green is great team, and a game like this was good for them. I think BG has a great fan base and a very respectful one on here.

On a side note wonder if I could ask a question. As a CCH fan, and I realize they have to get past Fern which will be hard enough to do, but from those who know, just how good is BG? I keep reading about them like they are this monster unbearable team and maybe they are. Just asking. How do they compare to a few teams I know

like Trinity, Scott Co, Ryle and say a Colerain out of Cincy?

Those are 4 pretty stout teams that would be a tough game

Christian County gave us all we wanted! I was worried at halftime. The coaches made the right adjustments and we won the 2nd half, because we lost the 1st half. I think the main reason we won the game was CC had way too many players going both ways. They were flat out tired and started getting cramps. It was a great game by both teams.

They are strong in many ways and arguably the best BG team ever. With that said, every team has some weak points.

On defense:

CCH must have skilled, athletic secondary to win this possible matchup. BG's receivers are quick, run good/disciplined routes and have hands. Their QB (Payne) has stats to speak to his effectiveness.

CCH must get pressure on Clark Payne. This is probably most important.

CCH needs to keep Carothers in between the tackles and have their linebackers plug the holes. Do not let him get the edge!

Offensively:

CCH has to contain BGs DEs and take advantage of BGs shorter secondary (with exception to Vito).

CCH needs to establish a run game to keep BG honest and have athletic tall receiving core they can really do some damage.

I know NOTHING about CCH but alot about the Purples so this is all I can tell you. Are they a very strong team? Yes. Unbeatable? Nope.

Great point PA!

That certainly was a big factor!

Peev,

BG is not unbeatable. But your question is difficult to accurately answer. The 2016 Purples are IMO very good, but they are not great yet, as IMO you have to win the championship to earn that moniker.

This Purple team has a Mr Football candidate (Jamale Carothers) at RB that just passed 1,000 yards rushing for the 3rd consecutive season. And now has over 5,000 total yards in his career. At WR, Deangelo Wilson, just went over 1,000 receiving yards and is IMO the 2nd best WR to play at BG. At QB, Clark Payne's completion % is right at 70% on the year with over 3,000 yards 35 TDs and only 4 INTs.

The BG D was a question mark coming into the season. They have given up 118 points through 12 games and is led by DE Dalen Cofer with 76 tackles and 7 sacks, LB Justice Dingle (the UT, UofL, UK recruit), and Freshman Vito Tisdale. VERY few freshman play varsity ball at BG. Tisdale has played in the US Army All-Star game in 7th and 8th grade and has been invited to play again this January.

BG's coaching staff IMO is in the top group of coaches in the State.

The teams you know would produce the following results per Calpreps against BG:

Vs Trinity - T 28 - BG 22

Vs Scott Co - BG 31 - Scott Co 21

Vs Ryle - BG 28 - Ryle 22

Vs Colarain - Colarain 31 - BG 21

So I hope this helps give you a better picture of this seasons BG team and comparing them to some very good teams.

Now I'd like to ask you for a snapshot of CCH... I know the are good, well coached and balanced, have a teriffic QB and RB, but that's about it...

Those were some great answers, thank you.

CCH does have a probable D1 qb and a very quick and scat like rb. They have a bigger set of wr's but not super fast. Line is big and a few play both ways.

The D is good, not great and has only average speed. They have a bunch of guys though that really love to play, led by Butler who is being looked at by some very nice D 1 schools.

Coaching is imo much better than it has been previously and he definitely has them moving in right direction.

Others who follow Colonels a little more may disagree with some of this or know better but my 2 cents. Good luck to Purples and thanks for the insight.

Okay, this will be my sour grapes against BG. You have a great program, we all know that, but it is really hard to praise the coaches and program as being great due to the number of players on the team that weren't there initially as freshmen. Many have come as Upper class men even. Some are super stars and some are role players. It doesn't matter how or why they got there to me. Take this years team for instance: Caruthers (superstar) came from Owensboro as a sophomore, Pringle (superstar) came just this year from Tennesssee. Kenner (significant role player at BG, would have likely been superstar at CCHS) came from Christian County just this year as a junior. While he was only a role player at BG, he would have played both ways and been a 800+ yard dual threat out of backfield and as receiver for CC. How many others? Without this influx of talent each year, is the program or coaches really that great? Hard to say, but with that said, it would be a hard opportunity to pass up as a player.

By the way, great game. It is hard to say anything other than congrats because the better team won.

Jamale Carothers was at BG as a freshman and while I no longer live in BG I know the Carothers family has a history of living in BG. I don't know if he came from Owensboro after middle school but he began at BG as a freshman. I'm thinking he is a BG kid. At the very least he has been at BG since he began high school.

So that puts your non-BG kid total down to 2. I know local people complain about out of District kids attending BG but a lot of those kids have been in the BG school system for quite some time. Prior to this year I don't recall all that many students transferring in to BG but I could be wrong. Chane Behanan. Who else has there been?

Lol. I told you it was sour grapes, I didn't say I was 100% correct. Sorry about misspellings, one was autocorrect and Carothers I just misspelled. As far as playing at BG, I already said I can't blame a kid for wanting to play there.. I have heard many Warren County parents(and surrounding counties) complain over the years about losing their best players to BG. I am sure some are exaggerated, but in no way can they all be. Can they? Once again, why would a kid pass up the opportunity. By the way, I am not talking about the R word. I am not even saying in any way that I think BG is doing anything wrong. I am just saying that they tend to get all of the athletes when they move to BG for whatever reason which gives them a huge advantage.

Bear3, Which facts were wrong other than name spellings and ages that they move in or back in?

Only 2 kids to my knowledge have moved to BG during their high school careers. If there are more someone can or will correct me. Your post said many kids move in to BG, you named 3 kids and 1 of those kids you named has been at BG his whole high school career. 2 kids transferring in on a team of 50-60 kids is not a big number to me.

I think the complaint is about out of district kids that play for BG. As I stated before a good number of those kids were in the BG school system before they got to high school.

And why wouldn't they be? By all accounts, BG is a great all around school. For what it is worth, I always root for ya against out of state opponents and large opponents, just not in the 5A playoffs.
