Sounds like a great game. I was in BG but unable to make it out there. I wish I could have.

Congratulations to the BG people good hard fought win. Way to many penalties 167 yards and turnovers to beat BG. County hasn't had a turnover by a RB the last two years but had 3 last night.. Good luck the rest of the way don't see Owensboro beating BG specially since #15 for em is probably out for the year. Do think Covington Catholic will be a tuff out good hard nose team but limited speed.

As for the colonels most everybody is back on defense lead my two good young LB'ers. Offense will miss Catlett for sure but Langhi, Long, Trice and Ellis will be back along with 3 starters on the line. Should be stout again and improved.

If Christian County had some discipline, this game may have had a different outcome. I've never seen a team hold as much as the Colonels. It almost worked. I can't remember seeing that many penalties in one game.

Some of em were holds some were questionable at best. CC didn't have many hold called all year. Maybe 4 or 5. That's a good aggressive defensive front who can re direct n a hurray. Rather see a holding call then a hit on the QB..

I said this during the whole game. I can honestly say I have never seen a team blatantly hold as bad and as much as CC.

Their OL arm held, tackled deadlocked Bowling Greens DE every play. Which is why BG had a hard time getting to their QB. When their QB was pressured, he struggled.

Their whole plan to stop the BG passing game was to jersey pull BG receivers all the way down field. If that didn't work they would bump the heck out of them and if that didn't work they would trip or tackle them before they touched the ball. It was ridiculous and they got away with a lot of it.

Okay, for a guy way far away from either team and not seeing either play this year, help me make something out of this game. Mad respect for BG. But as we all try to analyze every game, couple questions and would appreciate honest answers.

Christian Co just that good and BG beat a really good team?

BG didn't play well and left them in the game?

CC played out of their minds?

Does this mean BG IS vulnerable or they played bad and this was the shot to knock them off?

BG is better. Everyone would agree, but the Dline for CC played hard, aggresive and great. Nothing but respect from me. Holding or no holding

CC has two division one athletes who can flat out play. County, in my opinion, is a very strong football team.

That being said, after BG went up 17-0 they looked to become pretty comfortable. CC had 5 turnover last night. I'm willing to bet only 2 of them actually were turned in to scores.

If there was a time for BG to get its head right, this was a good way to have a "check yourself" moment. This was BG's first game that was decided under 21 points all year. I will refrain from saying they looked vulnerable after just this single week. Now, if Owensboro comes in to town and they struggle again, I may be writing a different narrative.

This is funny because CC had more holding penalties called than BG did. And trust BG o-line held just as much. You beat a good team in CC just admit it. Instead of finding excuses for a great close game that was extremely entertaining.

CC was just a really good matchup.

On defense they have an athletic and disciplined secondary and tough linebackers.

They did a good job plugging the holes between the tackles, limiting Deangelo Wilson during periods of the game and got to Clark Payne.

On offense they have 3 excellent skill players, Taylor (TB), Comi? #1 (Wr), and some kid that was #2 that was just nasty whether at RB or WR(he ended up getting hurt and hope he is ok). Their QB is big, strong and did a good job at times making things happen.

As for the holding, it happened, happened often and seemed intentional. It was, in my opinion, very smart and I would say, seemed to be part of the gameplan. Dingle and Coker coming off the edges HAVE to be checked. If you cannot out maneuver them you get them to the ground however you can and force the refs to make a call. Who cares that they got penalties because this does tire both those DE's out and really helped them. Some can disagree but I was impressed how well the CC oLine did regardless of the penalties. (Alot of this is opinion so take as such)

CC is an excellent team who had a strong gameplan. It was a great game and if that defense is returning next year as one fan said above then they are going to be very very good. Awesome job Colonel players and coaching staff on a great season and game. These guys have a lot to proud of!

Is it ridiculous if it worked though? You do what you have to do to win games. If the refs aint callin it then even more reason to keep it up.

County has had trouble with turnovers in big games the last few years, interceptions really hurt them

RCC, I've been thinking about your post and wanted to give you my 2 cents on this game, as follows:

1. BG typically has a healthy talent advantage in a majority of games they play. That is not the case against Christian County, as some would say the talent gap is even or even in Christian's favor.

2. Most of the time when BG goes up 17 to 21 points to 0 they fold like a Dollar Store umbrella, but not Christian County and that is to their credit alone.

3. I feel 2 things happened when BG got up 17 to 0. BG expected Christian to fold and let up a bit and Christian made some adjustments to stabilize their offensive and defensive lines. Then Christian forced a couple turnovers that produced short fields and Christian capitalized, as Keyron Catlett D1 RB and WR really played well for Christian in the 2nd quarter and they led BG 22-17 at half. BG went to the locker room and got a tongue lashing from County as they walked off the field and by Coach Wallace. In the 2nd half BG out scored Christian 27 to 7. So I think the correct adjustments were made.

4. In 2013, Nacarius Fant's senior year, BG hosted John Hardin and ran out to a 26-0 lead. John Hardin didn't quit and stormed back to lead 28-26. BG regrouped and scored the final TD, and won 33-28.

Moral of the story: Christian County is a Top 3 5A team this year and they came to play all 4 Quarters last Friday.

For BG, it was a gut check game when they thought it would be just another game, but realized in the win or go home atmosphere that you have to bury teams and regrouped and won. Momentum is a key component in these swing games. Again just my 2 cents.

Great observation! I would take it a step further and say that BG expected to win and CC hoped to win. I believe that winning pedigree plays a large role in these type of games. BG players remained focused and continued to play with in themselves. While the CC players started playing outside of themselves trying to do too much, when you should let that block go because the defender is pulling away, instead you grab and hold etc...BG is a top class program I have nothing but the upmost respect for what they are doing! If you want to be the champs you have to beat the champs, making 5A that much better in the West!
