Both teams have the same opportunities to attract students and student-athletes. As long as they both follow the rules, which there has been no evidence to the contrary, then I have no problem with how Trinity is doing it their way. The St. X faithful need to stop complaining about it and step up their game.

The colleges that host the championship games should provide the venue for free and keep the receipts from concessions. I would think it would be to their benefit to get so many potential students and athletes, along with their families, on their campus.

I think $13 for a high school student or younger to attend is just too much. And the $13 is misleading due to the the "convenience" charges by ticketmaster.

Has the KHSAA priced the casual fan out of attending the finals? Fans of teams who make it will go anyway, but will other football fans spend their discretionary income to attend?

Wolford at St. X is not a teacher. It was a big mistake, I believe, to hire a coach who is not in the building as a teacher or otherwise. It is impossible to develop the same relationship with the players as it is with a coach who is in the building regularly in the hallways during the school day.

I think either team in the Boyle Co. - Elizabethtown semifinal match this week can give Central a run for their money. I think 3A should be the best matchup in the finals.

I think Round 4 (semi-finals) should be played on neutral site turf fields.

I really like your idea of only taking the top 2 teams in each district to the playoffs and have a Game 11 Bowl for the teams that do not make it. But only if it would be a cross-district pairing. Teams do not want to play someone that they have already played in their district.

Can you expand on the fact that the administration will not let you participate in the playoffs.

Coach Reed will have the Dragons ready to go. Their option game, which is not seen much any more, will give the Bluebirds fits. Their complementary passing game will also add an explosive factor to their triple option. I am taking the Dragons 34-21.

Maybe Chad Lewis knew what he was doing when he chose to get out of coaching at JH last year . . . . .

Another interesting factor in the game will be former E-town assistant Steve Duncan returning as head coach of the Blue Tornado.

Not sure what happened on that actual play, but I have seen holding called on the return team where the holding occurred before the kick. That results in a similar situation to what you described. They mark off the penalty from the line of scrimmage, and if the yardage results in a first down, the kicking team retains possession.

I understand your comment, PepRock. While poking good-natured fun in the Poplar Level Road direction, you have also been well-rounded in your comments as well. Others have not done so as much. As LongTimeReader stated, sometimes perception does become reality, and often times falsely so. My comments were intended to shed light on the other side of the argument, not as much to directly refute what you said. I actually enjoy reading many of your analyses. I think you should actually watch a game film from one of his games and chart the plays that were run before making such a comment.

PHYSICALITY. Something that is hard to simulate in practice for teams that do not run physical systems on offense themselves. The 2 and 3 back, under center, hard-nosed offense is the outlier now, whereas in the past it was the norm. It is hard for teams to get ready for that in a week when they have spend most of the rest of the season defending shotgun and 4-wides.

Central Hardin will end up having a decent year. They probably over-scheduled a bit.
