  1. Would enjoy seeing #4 and #5 get to face each other early in the playoffs. Know it can't happen but I would definitely go to that one.
  2. To run the Wing-T you need a very good O-Line and from what I understand Scott Co has a dominating one this year. Going to be tough for anyone to slow that offense down.
  3. South Oldham 46 North Oldham 0 Final
  4. Believe game will be a lot like last year! Dragons defense is better this year.
  5. Agree. Right now they are better than Oldham County and getting better. They were missing their best player, JT Benson, for the CAL game. That game would have been a whole lot closer if he played.
  6. If OC doesn't win this game going away I will be highly disappointed in them.
  7. Not a bad first game for both teams. The line play for South did very well against a much bigger CAL team. Very proud of the way both the OL and DL played for South. Both teams will need to improve their passing game if they want to make a deep run come Nov. Neither QB had a good night throwing, missing wide open receivers on several occasions. That allowed CAL to stack the box and keep Souths running game in check. On the CAL side of the ball it stalled drives and kept the scoring low. I thought overall both teams learned a lot about their new starters and will improve in the coming weeks.
  8. This game to me will be decided in the trenches. South Oldham returns all 3 RB's and the leading receiver from last season on offense but lost 5 of 6 OL (including the TE). The OL will be young but have great coaching to help prepare them. The defensive line returns only DE Jack Herold as Tyrelle Love has transferred out of state. The LB's and DB's for the Dragons should be solid with a lot of returning experience. CAL is big and solid up front on both sides of the ball. Having Milton Wright and Brett Babin running the ball behind those big horses is a tough task for anyone to stop. CAL will also be very big and aggressive on the defensive line and, I believe, will be coming after Souths running game, forcing South to beat CAL passing. Lets see if new Dragon QB Anthony Pierce and the rest of the Dragon offense is up to the task. And can the South defensive line slow down CAL's running game. Should be fun to see those match-ups in the trenches. Go Dragons!!
  9. Yes it is!! Good luck to the future Bobcat and enjoy your senior year!!
  10. South Oldham JR Running Back Keaton Martin 2 yr starter 335 carries -- 2816 yds -- 36 TD's
  11. Why did I know WingNut was going to be all over this!! LOL
  12. Agree it's tough but folks doubted South could replace the OL after the 2015 and 2016 seasons. That's why I believe in this coaching staff. They will find a way.
  13. South Oldham returns a strong nucleus for the 2018 Dragons. The skill positions will be strong on both sides of the ball. Depth along the offensive and defensive lines will be a concern. The offense will be led by all three returning starting running backs and leading WR. - Keaton Martin (JR) -- 153 rush - 1258 yds 17 TD's - Colton Bolden (SR) -- 39 rush - 619 yds 6 TD's - JT Benson (JR) -- 37 rush -- 319 yds 4 TD's - Ethan Bednarczyk -- 17 catches -- 429 yds 5 TD's Garrett Chester is the lone starting OL returning but several others saw action including Zack Mason, Jack Herold and Seth Ford. I believe this is a strong coaching staff and OL Coach Carey Figg is one of the best coaches in Kentucky and they will have these guys ready to go. Anthony Pierce figures to take over the QB spot from graduated 3 yr starter Drew Zaubi. Anthony started on the JV and did get some varsity time. He looked good in the spring and he has lots of experience around him to help him out. Sophomore Ethan Schneider figures to get some touches running and receiving as he showed some excellent skills for a freshman last season. On defense it will be the same thing -- lots of experience in the LB Corps and DB group but need some players to step up on the DL. Returning - JT Benson (JR) DB - John Downing (JR) Safety - Isaac Lalli (JR) -- DB and Safety - Mason Bowman (SR) MLB - Noah Mitchell (SR) OLB - Jack Herold (SR) DE South could have a big loss in DT Tyrelle Love as there has been talk that he is transferring. He was a big part of the defense and would be sorely missed. There are several other LB's and DB's waiting in the wings like Cade White, Josh Carter, Chandler Muth, Immanual Darling and Trey Garrison to get their shot so they should have no problem filling those slots and providing depth. I am waiting to see who steps into the other roles on the DL. Always hard to tell in the spring with other sports going on. I believe it will be a good year for the South Oldham Dragons and cannot wait for the season to he here!
  14. I actually had Highlands at 5 instead of Christian Co. Birds and Dragons both return a lot this season. Like their chances going forward. Have to see how some positions get filled at the beginning of the season to know for sure.
  15. Who would you replace them with?
  16. To me it is a very smart move on the part of OC. If going in with Trinity or traveling to the other district is the choice I say warm up the bus!! They are just moving into 6A and are in the process of rebuilding with a new head coach who comes from -- Trinity! He knows whats there. Forget ever winning district. Not saying they will win their new district but they have a better chance of competing for one.
  17. Completely agree. They are not all a waste of time. Kids can get so much out of playing 7on7 travel. It doesn't have to be about scholarships or "getting noticed". Every 7on7 coach I have come in contact with stressed grades first and foremost. The kids get to play with other talented kids who love the game. There are bonds and friendships made that will last. They get to travel to tournaments and play against some of the best in the country. The overall speed and athleticism is better than what they will see on a Friday night. They can learn a lot and get better playing against these teams and athletes. They see players they have met at camps and have fun competing with them. It can also give them confidence competing with top level competition and show them what they may need to work on. The experience was well worth it. Just go into it knowing what you are signing up for and why.
  18. This is what I was wondering about. What will the split do to a normally very strong Scott Co? They cannot be playing at the same level we are used to seeing.
  19. South Oldham? Last three years in the Regional Final and State Semi's once. Believe they will compete!
  20. Please explain what exactly Chris Vaughn did during this process to get this kind of reaction from you. I have seen Chris help a lot of kids out so I am not sure where you are coming from on this.
  21. Sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family at this time.
  22. Sure its the goal. I don't know of any program that has a stated goal of "let's be #4!". But this, to me, goes hand in hand with the culture of a program. Are the coaches and kids willing to put in the work it takes to be a champion? How about the support from the parents and administration? Do some programs even know what it takes to get to that next level. Lets face it -- its not easy. Just showing up to practice after school is not going to cut it. I guess I am saying it's one thing to state that as a goal, it's a whole other thing to know what it takes and do it.
  23. Agree. Friday night high school football is GREAT the way it is! Don't need to add a Thursday night TV element to it.
