  1. CAL grinding it out on the ground. Down to the South 30.
  2. Benson with 2 defensive plays. South Oldham gets the ball!
  3. JT would be getting football offers if it were not for the fact he has committed to playing baseball for Louisville. He is expected to be drafted by MLB fairly high. Kid is a stud athlete.
  4. The matchup I am most interested in watching this game is John Young, LT for CAL vs Luke Clark, DE for South. Everyone knows who Young is. Luke Clark has an FCS offer and is getting more looks. Clark has been dominant in preseason and this is his test to see how he does against a four star. Another is JT Benson at Safety vs CAL passing game. Benson will be the best overall athlete on the field IMO. He missed this game last season and will impact this one in a big way. The lights in this game will be very bright!!
  5. I got to see most of the South Oldham vs LexCath scrimmage. I believe LexCath’s O-line looked young and a bit small. The QB’s were running for their life quite a few times. Someone told me most if not all five are new starters. If the line comes along I can see them being pretty good!
  6. Think I will go 1. FD 2. Scott Co 3. CovCath 4. BG 5. South Oldham They have a lot of firepower back and the defense looks good. Will find out just how good vs a good CAL team in week one!
  7. If he played varsity last season can he play right away?
  8. Aug 23. South Oldham at CAL. Should be a good game to get the season going. South has a set of very good, seasoned skill players on both sides of the ball. This should tell us how good the line play is vs some pretty big boys over at CAL. Sept 20. Trinity at Male. One of the great high school games you can see.
  9. Ethan has had a very good camp season to date. Ethan now holds offers from: Murray St (I-AA) William and Mary (I-AA) Morehead St (I-AA) I see Ethan excelling as a slot receiver at the college level. The 5'10" 180 lb Senior is an excellent route runner, has good quickness in and out of breaks with very good hands. And he is a 4.0 student! He has been invited to a few more camps so more offers could be in the works. Good luck Ethan!
  10. Here is the Dragons schedule for 2019. Several changes due to a new district and just some new faces for next season. Aug 23 at Christian Academy of Louisville Aug 30 at Eastern Sept 6 vs. Bullitt Central Sept 13 at North Oldham Sept 20 vs. Oldham County Sept 27 vs. Jeffersontown (District) Oct 4 at Atherton (District) Oct 11 vs. North Bullitt (District) Oct 18 at Seneca (District) Nov 1 vs. Central Hardin
  11. Following his pro football career Hunter Cantwell was the QB coach at Campbellsville University from 2012 -2015. He became the Head Coach at Carroll County in 2016 to the present. His first two years they won 4 games each year. For the 2018 season they won 7 games (first winning season in a while) and made it to the second round of the playoffs. They lost a few close games including 13-0 to Walton Verona, a state semi-finalist. I got to see him coach in a 7-7 game and the team looked organized and playing well. Some things just take a little time to get the players doing what you are teaching them correctly. Don't be too quick to judge just on record alone. There is a lot more football talent at Central than there is in most places in Kentucky, including Carroll County. He is doing the best he can.
  12. I believe Hunter Cantwell will be an early favorite. Cantwell fits what CAL is about as a school. I think that will be a big part of who they pick. That coach will have to fit into the schools philosophy and he does that and yes, the man can coach.
  13. Drew Zaubi got an invite and participated two years ago. Believe Jack Sherry from South Oldham is also an alum.
  14. Soccer, hockey, lacrosse were specifically mentioned. And time is not a factor. A player in Texas got a settlement 44 years after he quit playing. Some players who got settlements years ago sued again at a later date and got more money. It's crazy how this is all working and where the future of all sports are going.
  15. Curious when you say this schedule should allow them to post an 8-9 win season -- who do you see them beating and who do you think they will lose to? Some very good teams on that schedule!
  16. I see South Oldham having another good season in 2019. They have a lot returning on both offense and defense to make another run. Offense will have 4 yr starter Keaton Martin returning at FB and he is the engine that makes this offense go. QB Anthony Pierce returns along with WB JT Benson and WR Ethan Bednarczyk. I see WB Ethan Snider filling in as the second WB slot and keeping that offense going. Along the line TE Will Darragh returns as well as C Garrett Chester and G Zac Dudek. Jacob Shunnarah, Ethan Hibbard, and Elijah Lalli are capable of filling in next season. The 2018 defense had a pretty good season and in 2019 you get DE Luke Clark, DE Richard Thompson and DT Joey Sprake back along with all four DB's in CB's Trey Garrison and Isaac Lalli and safeties JT Benson and John Downing. All three LB's graduate but look for Austin Covington and Chandler Muth to be ready to step in as they got significant time this past season. Would also not be surprised to see with Downing or Benson move to OLB as South has some good DB's ready to take their place. With the experience gained these past four years with four straight Regional Finals and two Semi-Finals the Dragons have a great thing going, unlike at any time in school history. Can only hope they can break through for their first State Finals!
  17. Thanks DF! For the top half of the bracket Region 1 Owensboro looks like the favorite. In Region 2 you could have second round games involving South Warren, Bowling Green, and South Oldham. Regional finals will be awesome. Region 3 second round games possibly involving CovCath, Highlands, Collins, Montgomery County. Region 4 with second round games with Frederick Douglass, Scott County, Southwestern, Pulaski County. And who knows what teams surprise us next year. Looking forward to next seasons games already!
  18. CLASS 5A District 1- Breckinridge County, Graves County, Grayson County, Muhlenberg County, Ohio County, Owensboro District 2- Bowling Green, Christian County, Greenwood, South Warren District 3- Bullitt Central, Doss, Fairdale, Iroquois, Western District 4- Atherton, Jeffersontown, North Bullitt, Seneca, South Oldham District 5- Boone County, Conner, Cooper, Covington Catholic, Highlands District 6- Frederick Douglass, Grant County, Great Crossing, Montgomery County, Scott County District 7- Collins, East Jessamine, Madison Southern, West Jessamine, Woodford County District 8- North Laurel, Pulaski County, South Laurel, Southwestern, Whitley County I couldn't find anything on cross-bracketing for the playoffs next season. But if I had a vote I would want District 1 vs District 2 (Region 1); District 3 vs District 6 (Region 2); District 4 vs District 5 (Region 3); District 7 vs District 8 (Region 4). That sets up some great second round games and Regional Finals. Thoughts?
  19. After watching CovCath earlier in the year and seeing South Warren on Friday, I have to give it to CovCath. It will be closer than last seasons game between these two but the Colonels have all the tools to move the ball against that defense. They can attack all areas and levels of the field passing and run both inside and out. There is enough balance to keep South Warrens defense guessing. Have to go see this one!
