South Oldham has a bye in the first round

I have not seen T without Rondale. I read that in the game vs X the Rocks offense was struggling without him on the field. It would definitely change the game a lot. The opposing defense has to commit a lot of resources to stop him and T has others who can get open. Not sure what would happen. IMO this is only vs the very top teams. Rocks would still handle the rest of the field easily.

Going to go to this game. Should be fun to watch. My head says the Birds will win but my heart is with Coach Fox and the Colonels. Wife and I were there about 3 years ago and can't remember the name of the restaurant/pub that is close to the stadium that has a good fish sandwich. Anyone?

I am going with defenses win championships and no one in Kentucky even scored on the T defense. And having Rondale Moore gives you the ability to score. Yes X has gotten better but not 4 TDs better! Have to go with T!

Shelby County has had the Dragons number these last two seasons, by 7 in 2015 and by 1 in 2016. The Rockets are not having as good of a season as they have the last two years but are still a dangerous team. They are a run heavy team and Caleb Morehead leads their rushing attack with over 1000 yds (I assume as the Collins stats have not been posted). They throw around 8-9 times per game -- enough to keep you honest. The Dragons are on Fall Break this week coming off a pretty good performance vs a young North Bullitt team last Friday. South Oldham is still a run heavy team but the passing game is finally rounding into form with the new players this season. This game has prepared the Dragons for the playoffs the last two seasons and I expect the same this week. Shelby County will give the them a good challenge but in the end I believe the Dragons will finally get a win over the Rockets on Senior Night for the class of 2018!!

When South Oldham played them, BC ran and ran. Daylin Huff plays QB and is a very elusive runner. Along with Zac Clark, who is also a very good runner, they form a pretty darn good tandem. Unfortunately they do not have much in the way of passing the ball. I do not believe they have thrown more than 50 passes all season. They do a lot of read option between the Huff and Clark and toss sweeps to try to get either of them into space. Defensively they are very aggressive but lack a lot of speed. Huff plays safety and is a pretty good ball hawk.

Now that Bullitt East, Oldham County and Bullitt Central have all finished 3-2 in 5A District three, tying for 2nd place, who is the second, third and fourth seeds? If I read the KHSAA rules correctly the Region looks like this. D5 #1 -- CovCath vs D3 #4 Bullitt East D3 #2 Bullitt Central vs D5 #3 Dixie Heights D3 #1 South Oldham vs Bye D5 #2 -- Highlands vs D3 #3 Oldham County Is this right?

South did not turn the ball over vs Bullitt East. I look for Coach Reed to see how BC lines up defensively at the beginning and go from there. I still believe South will go over the top if BC crowds the box -- unless the DBs are playing that far back. If they do that then the short passing game will come into play.

Have to go with Brents or Moore. Brents because he does it all for a not very overall talented team. Seen him play QB, receiver, runner, DB, punt return, kick return. And he does all of these well. Moore is just special. Trinity is a top team in the country with his talents. I believe either one of these players should be Mr Football.

Good overview @ColonelMike of what should be a good game between these two. What decided this game last season was South's passing attack. BC crowded the box and dared South to beat them passing. Zaubi ended up 8-14 312 yds 4 TDs. They also rushed for 150 yards. They met again in the playoffs and Zaubi was 7-12 153 yds 3 TDs. They also rushed for 176 yards. South outscored them 76-7 with 465 yards and 7 TDs through the air for the two games. This season South has thrown for over 700 yards and 12 TDs where BC has thrown for 237 yds and 3 TDs. If BC tries to crowd the box again look for South to air it out! BC will have to try to pass or South's defense will bottle them up. Believe South rolls again!

I was also curious about this. District 3 and District 5 are paired. District 3 has 6 teams. The winner of District 5 gets the fourth place team from District 3 in round one. Does the 5th place team from District 3 become the 4th team in District 5?

Wright is not a good enough QB to lead them vs the better teams and win. He does his damage as a receiver/runner who throws as a surprise.

I predicted before the season no team in Kentucky will score on Trinity's starting defense. As the season has played out it looks like CovCath would have stood the best chance because running teams won't score but passing teams can. The question is could CovCath's O Line protect Mayer from Trinity's pass rush all night? As said above -- but they won't play against each other.

South has won the last two meetings by a combined score of 93-27. Bullitt East needs to stop the South offense first. Keaton Martin had 274 yds and 6 TD runs last year. That puts a lot of pressure on the Bullitt East offense to move the ball and to keep the South offense off the field. South's defense is way ahead of last season and playing very well. They are playing aggressive yet disciplined football with a lot of young guys stepping up. Bullitt East is going to have their hands full Friday night in Crestwood. South rolls.

And South didn't even use their passing game. They threw one pass to a starting WR -- 23 yd TD! Starters got pulled in the middle of the second period. Hope they get more work in on the passing game for the future!

We eat at the same restaurant for all home games. My wife gets the same meal as long as they are winning.

CovCath has proven why they are tops in 5A but why not? It's why we play the game. South is getting much better as the season progresses. Still a lot of football between now and then.

Assuming they make it there, does CovCath play round three at home?
