South Oldham is 8-1 after routing North Bullitt 57-6.

Shelby County is 6-3 after losing to Collins 19-38.

 

South Oldham started the season with a 14 pt loss to Christian Academy of Louisville. Since that game the Dragons are 8-0 bulldozing threw their schedule scoring an average of 44.8 pts per game while allowing just 5.8 pts per game.

 

Shelby County started strong with a 4-1 non district schedule, but went 2-2 in district play.

Can the Rockets spoil the Dragons Senior night?

Shelby County has had the Dragons number these last two seasons, by 7 in 2015 and by 1 in 2016. The Rockets are not having as good of a season as they have the last two years but are still a dangerous team. They are a run heavy team and Caleb Morehead leads their rushing attack with over 1000 yds (I assume as the Collins stats have not been posted). They throw around 8-9 times per game -- enough to keep you honest.

The Dragons are on Fall Break this week coming off a pretty good performance vs a young North Bullitt team last Friday. South Oldham is still a run heavy team but the passing game is finally rounding into form with the new players this season. This game has prepared the Dragons for the playoffs the last two seasons and I expect the same this week. Shelby County will give the them a good challenge but in the end I believe the Dragons will finally get a win over the Rockets on Senior Night for the class of 2018!!

Just remember that paybacks are hell.

This could be the year that SO pays SC back for the last 2 years of upsets.

Two of the area's best coaches. South's Jamie Reed and Shelby's Todd Shipley go at it again. They've had some tremendous battles, but I just don't see a Rocket upset this year. South admittedly had North Bullitt outgunned last week - but I was impressed by the businesslike effort by the Dragons on offense, defense (1 defensive TD) and special teams (blocked PAT). No turnovers, and very few penalties. South seems to be really clicking - and very, very efficient.

 

Both teams went 3-0 vs Bullitt East, North Bullitt, and North Oldham, but Shelby won all three games by single digits - South demolished all three teams by 35, 51, and 49, respectively....

 

Of course, if you believe in Karma, you'll note that Shelby's 9 games so far have been 2 wins, 1 loss, 2 wins, 1 loss, 2 wins, 1 loss....meaning this game should start a two-game winning streak???

 

Nah. I have all the respect in the world for the Shelby coaching staff and players, but I just don't see a third straight year with an upset win.

 

South Oldham 35, Shelby County 14
