  1. They say the sign of a good team is to win when you are not playing your best. That was South Oldham on Friday. The offense just never found a rhythm. The defense, minus one play that gave up a TD, played lights out. South Oldham, to me, has not put together a complete game yet in all aspects -- offense, defense and special teams. I look for the Dragons to get it going this week. South rolls.
  2. South is just starting to get it together offensively. Colton Bowlden is back at WB and besides his running ability he brings a lot to the passing game as he did last year. JT Benson at the other WB is probably the best overall athlete on the team and they are just starting to tap into his talent running and receiving. Drew Zaubi at QB and Keaton Martin at FB complete the running game and they are getting better each week as a group. The passing game is making huge strides -- just like last season about this point. Zaubi and his WR's and WB's are getting in sync better each week. The line play cannot be overlooked. The new faces are improving and there is depth. The offense is scoring at about the same clip as last season. Biggest difference this season is the defense. More aggressive, disciplined and more athletic. I like the way they are playing right now and am looking forward to seeing how they do vs this Oldham County offense. They have playmakers and the defense will need to be on their toes. Rivalry games bring out the best in each other. Have to go with my Dragons 34-14.
  3. Great first win for Coach Gamsky. Now everyone can quit talking about when they will get their first win and press on with the season. Congrats coach!
  4. Just finished the trip up. I'll thank you now! Will be listening for you at the game.
  5. No problem JD. Look forward to your posts. Great job!
  6. South Oldham defeated North Oldham 49-0 last week to up their record to 2-1.
  7. Does Boone Co broadcast their games? Please provide a link if they do.
  8. "6) Should teams with the same seeding meet in the third round, the team representing the even-numbered District shall serve as the host school the games in even-numbered years, while the team representing the odd-numbered District shall host the game in odd-numbered years. If the paired districts are both even or both odd, the highest numbered district shall host the game in even numbered years and the lowest numbered district shall serve as the host school for the game in odd numbered years." Found this in the KHSAA handbook. Since Districts 3 and 5 are paired together, who would host round three assuming the top seeds meet in round 3? What is considered the highest or lowest numbered district?
  9. The game last season was very physical. Tough game for both sides. This years Dragons on offense are not as explosive as last years at this point. The OLine last season had some monsters who opened some big holes. Right now the OLine is getting better. Sr Colin Armstrong is back at LT after missing the first two games. Jr Zach Mason missed his sophomore year (and the first two games this year) but is now back and started at RG. The line now has more depth and will continue to improve. The running game is solid. The passing game is improving with the new wing backs and new WR. Good offense but not hitting home runs as often as last year at this point. I think the defense is better than last year. Front four are more athletic and quicker. The back seven returned 5 starters and the new DB, So JT Benson, is playing extremely well. The MLB, Jr Mason Bowman, looks very good. These guys play disciplined football and I believe more aggressive than last seasons defense. And the game is at Boone Co this week.
  10. Great to see the Dragons take care of business with their County rivals. I know they have been working on getting the passing game back together and it was much more successful this time week. In what was supposed to be a strength with their wing backs returning (who both were very good in the passing game) and one WR returning has changed. South has two new wing backs now. So the passing game has three new players, all sophomores. Its going to take a little bit to get the passing game back on track this year. Coach Reed has the running game going. With what we saw at the game this past week the passing game took a step forward. Will be great to have the balanced attack again.
  11. I know we probably have covered it on BGP somewhere but for Region II you have Districts 3 and 5. Being an odd year who hosts the Region final? Also does District 5 have only 3 teams? Who becomes the fourth for first round matches?
  12. Trinity's offense seems to do what is necessary week to week. One week its five TD runs by McGuire. The next its 490 yds passing from Bohn. Pick your poison. On defense it doesn't look like they give up much rushing but passing can get to them. If I read a few articles recently correctly that Male has gone to a more run based offense I think it could be a long night for Male. Rivalry games are always tough though. And as intense as this one is you just never know. Still, I am taking the Rocks by 3 TDs.
  13. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to it!!
  14. Saturday is going to be ALL FOOTBALL!! Driving down to the Bowling Green vs St X game. Then find a place to hang out, eat and watch some college football on tv. Then it is on to WKU vs EKU! Mighty fine guys day out with my son and a few of his and my buddies!! As for which one -- high school over all others. Prefer college to Pro but it could depend on who's playing. If I want to just smile and watch a day at the youth leagues helping out is a great day!
  15. Glad to see South Oldham rebound with a very good performance vs Doss. They played like they had something to prove and brought it both in the running game and on defense. The team just played with a little more fire than they did vs CAL in my opinion. Looking forward to the bye week and be able to tighten things up. Well done coaches and players!!
  16. In the past it has always been up the next day.
  17. Yes. Pegasussportsky.com will be broadcasting the game. You can always go on their site and see the games they broadcast.
  18. Looking forward to a good game Friday night. I am sure both teams will benefit from the game. It's not where you start the season it's where you finish and what you learned along the way!
  19. No problem 88 -- its all good!! One of the great things about BGP is honesty and respectful disagreement. And honestly South did not play well vs CAL. But as I've said on other threads, that was a very young team out there. At one time on offense 6-7 players were sophomores. But South didn't quit and played much better the second half. I think CAL's coaches had the better game plan and the players executed it beautifully. South did make some adjustments in the second half and played better. I believe South will bounce back at home and pull out a close one. Souths coaches are very good and will make the necessary adjustments and be better prepared for this one. Yes Doss is very good and has some excellent athletes. They will be fired up and ready to go. Expect a great game from both sides.
  20. Thanks 88!! Should be a good game for both teams and tell a lot about the rest of the season. Wish you all the best this week also vs PRP. Have to watch a replay of it if I can.
  21. South Oldham lost 28-14 to a very good, higher ranked CAL team and disappears. Manual loses to Central and only loses a few spots. The Doss game will tell us a little more about both Dragon teams.
  22. That's a great opening PeteW. Could not agree more -- the Dragons will prevail! While South Oldham stumbled out of the gate, I believe youth (and a very good CAL team!) had something to do with it. On offense South had a number of Sophomores in there and mistakes were to be expected. Missed blocking assignments, dropped passes (one pick went through the receivers hands, bounced off his helmet and intercepted), and they just seemed out of sync. I thought South started playing better later in the second half and did not quit. The defense is also young, made some good plays and will improve with time.Something to build on from there. Coach Reed and his staff, I believe, will make the adjustments necessary. With a group this young it will take time to get to where they want to be by seasons end. That was a game where they all learned a lot. Doss, as you said, has had a few easy games but that is ok. They have plenty of talent and looked good. Their running game looks solid and threw the ball well. The defense has several playmakers in the front seven. South has had their number the last two years but last season went down to the wire. I look forward to a good game at Dragon Stadium!
  23. That is a special group of sophomores. Downing at safety, JT Benson at DB/SB, Love at DT, Bednarczyk at WR and Martin at FB. They are very good athletes who are used to winning. There are a few others like Garrison, Chester and Lalli who will see the field tonight, get valuable experience and should be good contributors. Should be a fun night.
  24. Thanks Purple! I am expecting a pretty good game on Friday. Good luck to BG and hopefully we will get to meet up at a game later this year.
  25. I know it is probably on BGP somewhere but can someone post a link here to where the game will be broadcast on the web.
