  1. The second half has been all Spartans. Their line has dominated on both sides of the ball. Dragon QB Pierce has had no time to throw. South Oldham ran the ball effectively in the first half but those holes aren't there near as much.
  2. South Oldham did a great job last week vs a very physical Fern Creek team. But like every level of the playoffs, the next game is a little tougher. And South Warren is every bit of that. To me, the Dragons can match skill position players on both sides of the ball with about anyone in the state. These guys are experienced, tough and very skilled. The line play will be the key to the game. South Warren boasts a stud in Jacob Lacy and the others on the line are no slouches. South Oldhams line play will be tested. This will be a hard fought game that I am looking forward to seeing. Dragon Stadium will be rocking come Friday night!
  3. FC fumbled at the South 2 yd line. South recovered. 2:30 remaining.
  4. JT Benson 16 yd TD reception. 35-12.
  5. Personal foul on South takes them out of field goal range. Missed opportunity. Halftime 28-6.
  6. JT Benson with the pick. South ball at the 20.
  7. JT Benson 1yd TD run. 28-6. Almost halftime.
  8. South driving inside FC 15 yd line.
  9. Fade pass to Bednarczyk for TD. South 21-6.
  10. South long pass to Bednarczyk plus personal foul on FC. Ball on FC 25.
  11. FC's lack of kicking game giving South good field position. TD JT Benson. 14-6.
  12. South takes flare pass down to FC 2 yard line. South TD on jet sweep. 7-6.
  13. FC 6-0. TD pass off play action. FC has no kicking game. Missed 2 pt conversion.
  14. It won't be raining and the snow should melt away. The game time temps will be near freezing. This game, I think, will be closer due to the conditions.
  15. To me this game will be about toughness -- both physical and mental. After attending the Fern Creek vs Oldham County game it appeared to me Fern Creek just wanted it more. OC was in position to make tackles and plays but the runner for FC ran through them. The D-line for FC was pushing through the OC line, not allowing OC to get anything going. Fern Creek was bringing it on offense and defense up front as the game wore on. South Oldham to me has more athletes and playmakers than OC. This will be South's fourth straight trip to the Regionals and these guys know what to expect. South also has a little bit better passing game than OC and that should help give FC more to defend, maybe opening up some running lanes. One big difference is South has a far better kicking game than FC and field position could be something that gives South the edge. Believe the Dragons will take this one but it won't be easy!
  16. Wondering about the health status for Male now? Made a big difference last time around.
  17. Great rosters but wondering how many will actually play in the game.
  18. This is the game in 5A where strength of schedule shows. Anderson went undefeated but won convincingly against a suspect schedule. Highlands definitely played a good schedule and played well. I can see Highlands taking away Anderson's running game and making them throw the ball more. Not sure the Bearcats are built for that. Taking Highlands by 2-3 TD's.
  19. This is the game I will be going to. The OC defense has had a few ups and downs during the season (giving up 33 to Bullitt Central) so I believe this game will hinge on the OC defense shutting down the Fern Creek running attack. OC will score some points but will it be enough -- depends on which defense shows up!
  20. South Oldham 21-0 near end of the first
