  1. Colton Elkins received an offer from D1 Western Carolina last night.
  2. I can confirm that rule is correct. KHSAA's way of keeping HS coaches from just running their teams as AAU and playing year round.
  3. I've never heard of this kid until recently. What can you tell us about him?
  4. But Open Enrollment doesn't extend to sports eligibility does it? If so, Louisville kids would transfer every week.
  5. Trey Hill (formerly of Fern Creek) is now at PRP. Will he get eligible?
  6. He'll definitely play somewhere. When we last spoke he wasn't sure yet. But that doesn't mean he hasn't already made a decision. I haven't talked with him in a couple of weeks.
  7. I can end all the speculation. Timmy just wasn't happy at LMU. And if you think playing time was the issue, he played 27 minutes the last game before he left. Sometimes kids go to a college and aren't happy. It happens.
  8. 7 - Bardstown 5 - Desales 3 - Collins 2 - Oldham County 1 - Moore TB - Moore
  9. 7 - Henry Clay 5 - Harlan County 3 - Lincoln County 2 - Casey County 1 - Cordia TB - Henry Clay
  10. Team of the Week: Dunbar – Winners of 5 in a row to take the Championship of the Traditional Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic last week. Avenged an earlier loss to Trinity in the title game of the tournament. Player of the Week: Darius Williams, Dunbar – MVP of the Traditional Bank Classic. Season averages up to 17.4 PPG and 4.2 RPG. Team Rankings 1. Dunbar – Reclaim the top spot with the Traditional Bank win. Sit at 13-2 with home dates against Madison Central and LCA this week. 2. Henry Clay – Winners of 9 out of their last 10 and sitting at 13-2 on the season. Cupcake games against Sayre and Williamstown this week and a district showdown against our #3 team on Friday night. 3. Scott County – The Cardinals are 15-1 and haven’t lost in a calendar month. Went 4-0 at the King of the Smokies tournament. Host 8th region foe Oldham county before a date at Henry Clay on Friday. 4. Lafayette – These Generals were the runners up at the Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops Classic. They go across the city to Bryan Station and Tates Creek this week. 5. Lexington Christian – Split 4 games at the Lake Cumberland tournament. They still lack a marquee win on the season. District battles at Lex Cath and at Dunbar should tell us more about these young Eagles and provide them a chance to get a much needed district win. 6. Lexington Catholic – Winners of 3 out of 4 and placed 3rd in their Traditional Bank Classic. A head to head win over Bryan Station moves them up. They led Trinity in the 4th quarter before a poorly timed scoring drought. 7. Bryan Station – The Defenders went 3-2 at the Traditional Bank event but took an absolute mauling at the hands of Dunbar and dropped a game to Lex Cath as well. After watching both games in person, this team struggles to score. Against Dunbar, they couldn’t throw it in the ocean. 8. Madison Southern – 8-6 after the Christmas break, these Eagles have a balanced attack with 3 players averaging double figures and two others at 9.7 and 7.9 PPG. 9. Madison Central – Won 2 out of 3 at the Gateway Classic and blew a big lead against Mercer County in a game they should have won. They play at Dunbar, at Cordia and home to Woodford this week. 10. Woodford County – Winners of 4 in a row, the Yellow Jackets gave Coach Scott Hundley his 100th career win last week. They face off against both Madison county schools and Harrison County this week. 11. Franklin County – Had won 6 in a row before dropping their last 2. Freshman Diablo Stewart is averaging 14.6 PPG on a crisp 33.6% from the field. Demarcus Kennedy is averaging a double double after 13 games. 12. Model – Went 2-1 at the Red River Classic and are 6-6 heading into the New Year. Off until Friday when they play host to Berea. 13. Sayre – Much more competitive lately, they appear to be improving quickly and are playing a better schedule than the bottom feeders of the 11th. 14. Frankfort – Losers of 7 out of 9 since starting the year 3-0, this Panthers team appears to be on the verge of letting the year get away from them. 15. Tates Creek – The boys from the Creek have a bona fide winning streak after beating Estill County and Russell County at the Red River Classic. Their only game this week is a home contest against Lafayette. 16. Western Hills – Dropped 2 out of 3 at the Traditional Bank Classic and sit at 3-8 for the season. However, they are in a very winnable district and have a senior heavy roster. 17. Berea – Losers of 10 out of 12 since starting 2-0, if they can’t beat Burgin next week, they may not win again until they play Kentucky School for the Deaf for the second time this year.
  11. Hoop Dreams out of Lexington has teams from 2nd grade through 11th.
  12. I am confused. What are you talking about? Are you saying prep schools don't offer scholarships?
  13. Someone doesn't care for your discrediting of Mason Blair.
  14. When I was a senior at Daviess County we played PRP in the LIT. It would be cool to have some non-Louisville schools mixed in as opposed to these bottom of the rung Louisville schools. Imagine if Owen County, Mercer County, Christian County, Bowling Green and Dunbar replaced Desales, Western, CAL, Valley and Southern? I'd pay to see that. As opposed to the current format.
  15. If this were a true official visit, everything would be paid for by UK and there would be a 48 hour window where he would be on campus, see practice and/or a game. Kentucky has never had a junior on an official visit so I doubt Jaylen is the first. He is a high major player as evidenced by his offer list. However, there is a difference between high major and elite high major (Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, UNC, Michigan State, etc.)
  16. Lex Cath needs someone else to step up and score.
  17. Completely agree. Both are very good. But Steven is consistent while Danny is much flashier.
  18. Team of the Week: Scott County – At the rate these guys are beating top competition, the Cardinals have become a team I can legitimately see winning the region. They defeated West Jessamine, LCA (for a second time this season) and Eastern to win the Woodford County Invitational. Player of the Week: Isaiah Tisdale, Henry Clay – Led his team to 4 double digit wins at the Berea Invitational. Had 17 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game. Making a strong argument to be the best senior in the 11th. Team Rankings 1. Henry Clay – 4-0 with 4 big wins combined with the Dunbar loss moves the Blue Devils into the top spot this week. Assuming they beat Caverna tonight, they will face Trinity tomorrow (Monday) night in the quarterfinals of the Traditional Bank Tournament at Lex Cath. That game will show us a lot about the potential of this Blue Devil team. 2. Dunbar – Rough week for the Bulldogs as they take their first 2 losses in the King of the Bluegrass. They face John Hardin Monday night in the Traditional Bank quarterfinals. 3. Scott County – Leading the region with 11 wins but its hard to move them ahead of Dunbar at this point. According to the schedule, they are off until January 5th. If anyone knows differently, please post below. 4. Lafayette – The Generals had a bye week to get ready for the Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops classic. They faced the always dangerous TBA on Sunday night to start tournament play. 5. Lexington Christian – Went 2-1 and lost by 19 to Scott County in Woodford County last week. Beat UHA by 30+ to start the Lake Cumberland tournament thing. If Kyle Rode continues scoring 20+ a game, they may finally get the signature win they are lacking. 6. Bryan Station – Winners of 4 in a row, Station is finally getting a little momentum. Tim Dunn has stepped up admirably in the absence of DeAndre Dishman. The Defenders face the perennially overrated Cordia Lions on Monday afternoon at Lex Cath. 7. Lexington Catholic – I should put the Madison schools ahead of the Knights but I don’t think Central or Southern can beat Lex Cath right now. So I will continue ranking them too high until they either prove me right or wrong. 8. Madison Southern – With a record of 8-2 over their last 10 games, the Eagles appear to have a little traction and some upward momentum. 9. Madison Central – Had a nice 14 point win over what I suspect is a very overrated Paris team. They continue play at the Gateway Holiday Classic in Mt. Sterling on Monday. 10. Frankfort – They’ve dropped 7 of 9 since starting the year 3-0. But their district is terrible and Anthony Robinson is the best player in that district. So they stay at the top of the bottom of the region. 11. Woodford County – Steadily improving, these Yellow Jackets nearly upset LCA last week. Scott Hundley is an excellent coach and will have his kids ready for when the games matter in February. 12. Franklin County – Winners of 4 in a row, this young group of Flyers appears to be learning how to win. They play at the Henry County invitational starting Monday. 13. Model – Sitting at 4-5 right now, they have beaten everyone they should and dropped every game you would expect them to. They open play at the Red River Classic on Monday morning. 14. Sayre – Junior Jake Duby is doing all he can, but not getting a lot of help. He’s averaging over 25 PPG and shooting 44% from 3. 15. Tates Creek - They sit at the bottom of the region in wins at 1-8, but they are playing a brutal schedule. Tates is probably 2 years away from even thinking about being a region contender. 16. Western Hills – Only 2-7 but they are at least being competitive. At a perennial doormat like Western Hills, just being competitive is a major step up. 17. Berea – Their 4 wins are over 3 of the worst teams in KY and the Kentucky School for the Deaf. They are 0-2 at the Cumberland Falls Invitational with another 2 games to go this week. In Closing, there are some great games at Lexington Catholic on Monday. Get out and see Dunbar, Clay, Station and Lex Cath if you can! Could be the 11th region semifinalists right there.
  19. I hope you didn't think I was disparaging the kid. Just making a general statement about highlight tapes.
  20. All due respect, any kid can look awesome in a mixtape. Anyone who really wants to know how good a player is should go out and see them play live and form their own opinions.
