Home field advantage? Not a big factor (expection: Elder) Home court advantage? Not a big factor (exception: Maybe CCH) In the end I think the better teams will win in high school. JMO.

NAIA can absolutely be legit. Dennis Rodman is the highest-level NAIA player (any sport) to come to my mind.

Sad news, but Heppler will not be able to play basketball this season. Apparent shoulder injury that requires surgery that take 9 months to fully recover. It may affect his senior baseball season as well. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I remember at least 3 times in 11 years where the students have been asked by faculty at CCH to stop jumping. It is incredibly dangerous at any gym IMO. And I think Guru is spot on; Covcath basketball wants all their attention to be from what happens on the court.

Cool to see they are going to start calling these games part of a "Classic"... gives it more clout IMO. Why would CCH not want to play there? To play more home games for home crowd advantage? I would think some of their success in the last 2 years in March was from the experience/conditioning from playing on a college court in a bigger arena. JMO.

She walked on/was added to the Spring team at some point during the spring semester. What an athletic family. 2 Division I athletes.

Congrats, there is no feeling like getting an opportunity to play at the next level for a 17-18 year old.

Did not play football in high school, but I took them after 90% of my basketball practices. We used to say it took 2 minutes to get numb, then you just need to think about something else. I like to think they worked as we won the State Championship, but I have no proof to the contrary.

I'm about as far from a parent as can be, so you are probably right. I just know that my parents spent a ton of money when I played AAU and I do not go to school on a full ride. But the lessons I learned and fun I had was worth it to them.

It did not seem like the drunk guy was hurting anybody (attacking the refs, etc.) or doing anything except waste everybody's time, but I understand how the coach would want to speed the arrest/kick-out process up.

While this may be accurate in some cases, let's not forget that AAU tournaments/club/competitive sports are fun for the kids too. And in the end, that is what most parents' goals are: For their kid to have fun.

Great thread, Hellbird. It is worth pointing out (Hellbird will appreciate this) that these astounding statistics include D1, D2, and D3. So (not anyone on here) anyone who tries to belittle Division 3 athletics is completely misinformed, as playing D3 is still an amazing accomplishment for high school athletes.

To the bolded, that is for another thread... :laugh: Here's my opinion on the perspective student athlete. I cannot imagine he will play for NCC this season.

You guys are what makes Kentucky High School basketball so great. 10 months away and we are already talking about it! Love it! I'll always say the fans can make or break a high school sports experience.

McCormick added would have been huge, and I wonder if Zach had enrolled at Dixie if Jordan Fox could have somehow stayed as well...
