It could have to do with the Crazies being blamed for destruction of property at the BOK.

That was my first thought. Tired of paying for the repair of bleachers....

Only time the bleachers have had any group that size on them. They are retracted for concerts and graduations. NKU game would be lucky to draw half as many for a big game.

Bleachers that are made out of wood with a low center of gravity are quite different than bleachers made out of plastic and aluminum that suspend several feet into the air connected to a steal frame. apples and oranges comparison.

Still when I'm sitting on The Crazie's side of the gym at CovCath, as entertaining they are, it makes me a nervous wreak.

 

I'd hate to ever see an awful tragedy (or be apart of one), but home or away, it disturbingly feels like it's just a matter of time. Hope that I'm wrong.

I remember at least 3 times in 11 years where the students have been asked by faculty at CCH to stop jumping.

 

It is incredibly dangerous at any gym IMO.

 

And I think Guru is spot on; Covcath basketball wants all their attention to be from what happens on the court.

This...and it has nothing to do with arrogance.

 

My understanding is those who call the shots simply don't think the program, fans, or players gain anything by moving a regular season HOME game there.

 

Now if someone like Newcath wants to move THEIR home game v Covcath to BOKC to accomodate crowd size and safety (floor issues), I have no clue if Covcath would have to agree to a change in location or not.

I think Cov Cath has benefited from playing so many games at BOKC over the years, particularly since it is the site of the 9th region tournament. It is also the same size floor as Rupp, which I think gives them a small advantage in the state tournament.

 

With that said, Covington Catholic's upcoming schedule is going to be pretty strong. They don't need to go to NKU to play another local school in a quasi-showcase in front of a less than capacity crowd.

 

I don't know if Cov Cath has refused to play at the BOKC or not. Quite frankly, I find it hard to believe given the number of games they've played there over the last couple years. But, if so, I'll defer to Ruthsatz & the admin & trust that there is a valid reason for doing so.
