Ranking The Top 10 Private and Military Schools Since 2000

Featured Replies

The Criteria:

- Hardware rules. Heavy emphasis on post season success, specifically Titles and Finals.

- I am doing this on a "Pound for Pound" basis. It's not about whether a 6A should always be better than a 2A, but about how strong each program is relative to it's competition.

- In order to be considered the program has had to play 11 Man Football for the Duration of the Period

Ranking The Top 10:

10. Covington Holy Cross- Their lone title stands proud. In their defense they have consistently had a tough District Draw much like CovCath.

9. Owensboro Catholic- Aces get the edge for sustained success though they have been the Buffalo Bills of the Privates for decades

8. CovCath- May come as a surprise to many, but the stats don't lie. CovCath has been pummeled by Highlands and have struggled to overcome, but even outside of that it is hard to find anything to hang their hat on.

7. LCA- Eagles had a solid run, they have also sustained more success in fighting through to a Regional Championship

6. Ft. Campbell- Falcons have struggled in their new 3A home, but had as strong of a 5 year period as anyone prior to that.

5. Lexington Catholic- Knights have had a tough go thanks to Highlands and Boyle County, but have still managed to leave their mark.

4. DeSales- Colts get the edge for their mix of Regional Titles and Final Success

3. St. Xavier- Firm spot..hard to argue with their title appearances and strength of competition

2. NewCath- By a good margin... Essentially firmly planted at Second in every statistical category

1. Trinity- ...and it's not even remotely close.

The Rest:

11. Lou. Holy Cross

12. CAL

13. Bethlehem

14. KCD

15. Ft. Knox

I'd move LexCath over Desales but I agree for the rest. The Knights have the same amount of State and Regional Titles but also have 17 more wins in the time frame while being in a tougher class (IMO). The Colts only lead is by 1 State title appearance. Also would like to add that I am a homer.

Not that there's anything wrong with that! :thumb:

You might want to form a football team if you want to be included in a football list. Just sayin' :isurrender:

Guess you all did not catch the hoops5 sarcasm. :lol2:

Great list! I never really payed attention to football outside of NKY, but I know I'm a clear CCH supporter and I see nothing wrong with your analysis. :thumb:
