Makes sense as that's who Nick played for. Aiden played Shining Star last year, but things obviously change quickly in high school. Have not heard anything about Flood yet.

Otte (Head JV) and Bacigalupo (Assistant Varsity) came at the same time. It was Ruthsatz's first year. Ruthsatz also hired Matt Stevens (Freshman Head Coach) and kept Steve Sorrell on staff (Freshman Assistant Coach). In his second year, Brandon Elliot (Assistant Varsity Coach) was 'hired' as he used to work with Bacigalupo (at TQL). In his third year, Coach R 'hired' Joe Frederick (Assistant Varsity Coach) after coaching Joe's son (Nick) for 2 years. [Hired in quotes because I do not know if they are paid] As has been mentioned here a lot, this is one of the best staffs in the state. I believe all coaches, excluding Matt Stevens and Steve Sorrel (maybe?) played college basketball. As an alum, I am elated to hear that Coach R is staying, although I never doubted he was leaving.

It all depends on context I think. From late February to Mid March, Owensboro was the best team in the state. I think that is what matters most. So even if T was the best team from October 15 through the day before they lost, it does not really matter as February- March is the time where they get a real opportunity to compete against the best. If any Owensboro players read this thread, I say to them be proud. You were the best team in the state of Kentucky when the time came to see who the best is. It is an experience they will never forget.

I'm not exactly sure why you are getting so offended, I don't think MTGL was trying to upset you. But CCH fans are used to this type of criticism. Same stuff, different day. Also, no alumni "go in and practice to get them ready for state." I am closer on the matter than anyone in the world, so please send the false accusations elsewhere.

Nick did it first and it started last year. CCH early in the year was struggling with free throws, so Joe Fredericks advice was "turn around, get a deep knee bend, clear your mind, and make 2 free throws. Almost all of the guys do/have done it, but Nick Ruthsatz obviously shot way more free throws than any other player.

He would be at CCH as long as Listerman wasn't. If his son Nick had graduated I bet Frederick would have been head coach.

Correct. KHSAA assigns each team to a hotel. I'd love to see how they determine which team goes where. My senior year we were put in the Clarion, but the class after me got the Griffin Gate Marriot! :banghead:

Agreed. Thanks for clearing that up. Although like I said (and I think you'd agree) if there is a player to score close to 1000 in a single season, CVH would be it.

I think MTGL is saying that CVH is close to 1000 career points wearing a Covington Catholic uniform (he already has 1000 career points if you include his 8th grade season played at Villa High School). MTGL said he has a chance to get 2000 career points in a CCH uniform next season, and I said that it is difficult but not impossible to scorer 1000 points (or close to) in just one season (since he is juts now getting 1000 in his 2nd CCH season).

That is absolutely amazing. But MTGL, are you saying that he could break 2000 next season? That would mean he'd have to score close to 1000 next year alone, right? I know its been done, and he would be a good candidate for the next one to do it, but it is incredibly difficult.

Pretty crazy, but you could say that every year for every region in the state.

Coach Listerman is absolutely one of the greatest men I have ever met. I have no doubt in my mind if I were in a hospital bed he would visit me - and I only played for him for about half a year. Basketball wise, I think his teams have underachieved. At CCH, he coached three 1000 point scorer's (Thelen, Jacobs, Maile) in addition to a TON of other great players (D Noll, Nesthtide, Bovard, Tierney, Votel) and only won 2 regional titles. As I said, he is one of the greatest men I've ever met, but I think the game has passed him up.

It is possible that he could coach at another level, but I am pretty confident that he is here to stay for a while. This is his target age group. Plus he's got 7 kids (5 younger than 9th grade) so moving for a 3rd time might not be his best option, and, perhaps the most deciding factor of all, his wife likes it here.

I think some people are underestimating how good Nick Ruthsatz was. CVH, Bo, and the gang are great players. But Nick Ruthsatz really brought the team to another level. Not saying its impossible, but it would indeed be an extremely difficult feat.

This would be surprising. I got the impression last season that most people enjoyed the Crazies at Rupp.

No. Colonelfan I presume, is just saying KHSAA gave enough tickets for only one class, and undoubtedly (at least at CCH) they would be given to the seniors if that were the case.

I think its just being blown out of proportion. I am the biggest CCH supporter on this site and the closest to the basketball program by far. I know that while the coaches and administration are excited for a bright future, the ONLY thing they are thinking about now is Campbell County. There may be a lot of potential in the next few years, but absolutely no one knows A) How kids develop B)If they will continue to play with all this "competition" or C) How injuries could affect the future just to name a few. There are dozens of factors concerning the future but all that matters for CovCath right now is next Wednesday at Rupp.
