The discrepancy between these two polls is hilarious and essentially tells ya that neither one is accurate. High school basketball is hard to rank, but once again I feel like the BGP rankings are the most accurate.

For sure hah. My 8 year old could likely compile a comparable list as them and she would likely just put her favorite mascots in order for her list.

Figured I'd give this one a few days before I bumped it back up. In my opinion this one could go either way but I feel like the Vikings hand the Tomcats their first loss of the season. Rowan has been playing really well and their inside presence will likely cause Ashland some problems early in the game. With nearly two weeks between games I'm not sure Ashland can overcome a slow start in this one. For Ashland to get the win in this one they're gonna have to come out playing like they were in the AIT and I just don't see that happening.

Mason is playing like a top three team at this point, imo. I can't argue the ranking because they have nine losses. But at this point in time I wouldn't want to draw them in the upcoming tournaments. Winning the region may be a stretch but I could see them playing for the title.

I feel like Lex Cath is the better team but Henry Clay could certainly pull off the upset. I don't really see anyone other than one of those two winning the region though.

Congrats to the Dragons! I saw glimpses of what they're capable of in the AIT, they were just lacking consistency. This game shows what they're capable of when they play like they are able for all four quarters.

North Hopkins seems to be playing as well as anyone at the right time. They're gonna be a tough out for anyone in the tournaments.

A lot can change between now and 2023 but Colin is projected to be a high major D1 player. I've seen him rated as high as the #2 pg in his class and all rankings I've seen have him in the top 5. It seems that he and LeBrons son have developed a competitive friendship on the aau circuit.

I feel the same as 4 quarters. Top level talent does seem to be slightly down this season, but not by much since there is usually only a couple of thise type of players a year anyway. As a whole I don't think the talent level is down though, there are some really good "teams" that could hang with some of the best programs in the country.

Mason has been playing really well recently. A lot of their losses are really close as well. Seems they're better than most think, I could see them making a run in the regional tournament.

I couldn't see any issue with using it then. A propane torch is a propane torch. As long as unburnt fuel isn't hitting (which would be unlikely) the food then I can't see it being any different than using a chef's propane torch or a gas grill.

After what will be nearly two weeks off due to games being rescheduled and postponed due to the flu, Ashland will visit @zebraman's number two team in the region this coming Tuesday (2/11). So what are everyone's thoughts? Will the Tomcats continue to roll or will the two weeks off have them out of shape/practice? Or is Rowan County just the better team playing at home? Who wins and why?

I've never heard that the weed burner things are bad for food but if they are lower btu then there could be some unburnt fuel hitting the meat. I feel like you would taste that though, so if you haven't I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Chefs use mapp torches frequently to sear meats and deserts like creme brulee.

Her mom is Columbian, pork is a staple in that family but the outside has to be crispy. When her family from NYC comes to visit we do a whole pig roast and they mostly eat the skin.

I'm sure it is super juicy. I'd be open to giving it a try that way but I'd have to get a good sear on it at the end or my better half would consider it a disappointment lol. She's all about the crispy skin/fat cap that comes from the long time in the kamado when it comes to pork shoulders/butts. I would love it either way though. Sous vide works great for a lot of things, its probably the best way there is to cook a thick ribeye, strip or filet. Take it out of the bath and give it a good sear and you're gonna have as good of a steak as can be cooked. I've noticed that a lot of restaurants are starting to use sous vide quite regularly. The one she manages just remodeled their kitchen and added several sous vide stations. As soon as I tried a few things that were cooked that way I could notice the difference in tenderness/juiciness.

Odd that it took this long but it's nice to see them get the recognition they deserve!

Some info for anyone trying to catch a Tomcat game this week. Rose Hill/Ashland that was scheduled for Tuesday then moved to this evening has been pushed back to Feb 20th. The Ironton (OH) game scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled and I do not believe there will be a makeup date for that one.

I'm right in line with the bolded. I feel like those three along with CCH are the best teams in the 9th region. Beechwood and NCC are a slight step behind them. But CCH app eww are to be a couple of steps ahead of the second place team, so it's all likely a moot point.

That's a good thought process for about anything that is already partially cooked or just needs to simmer or be kept warm. Crockpots are perfect for stuff like that, not just roasts, soups etc. To be honest my favorite way to make a Mississippi roast is to smoke it in the kamado for a while then transfer it to the crockpot. You get a different flavor from the charcoal (or wood if you add some of that as well) but it's still a really simple cook and comes out just as tender as crock potting it the whole time.

Hah. I could honestly see an entire handful of teams that could end up #2 as things play out. All in all it seems like the 9th is a bit down this year.

At this point in the season Cov Cath seems to be head and shoulders above anyone in the 9th. The number two spot seems to be up for grabs though.

Villars is ready to go, just wasn't needed. He tried to get coach Mays to let him in during the 3rd quarter but Mays did not. I'm not sure what the extent of Bradley's injury is, but I don't believe it is anything serious. Likely being rested as well.
