My guess is the KHSAA missed it when ruling him eligible. Someone likely made a call recently that threw the red flag up for investigation.

Jeff has been in the Greenup area since he was a kid. He also played at Ashland 15 or so years ago. So they didn't necessarily move to the area together. What I heard sounds to becoming true though but there isn't really anything I can add that hasn't already been mentioned. The letter to the coach explains about 90% of what I've been told.

It certainly is. Jeff Large will be fired as well, obviously. It appears that Greenup County will be starting over, again.

I figured Highlands would win this one by ten or so. Apparently they are a few points better than I thought.

Final from James A. Anderson gymnasium. Ashland finished the regular season 28-0. They play Rose Hill again on Monday for the first round of the 64th district tournament.

Warren Central has all the tools to win that region. Whether they do or not is up in the air. But they're playing much better this half of the season and would be my favorite to win the region. This was a bad loss for BG, but I'm not sure that its gonna matter in the end if Warren Central keeps playing as they have been or improving.

I get the dislike @NKYBBALLFANS but you said yourself that Beechwood is battling injuries and sickness. Unless Highlands is dealing with the same (which you didn't mention) then I would give them a 10 point advantage in this one considering they're playing at home. The two teams seem somewhat equal when at full strength.

I never knew they weren't given room to land safely on floaters, that rule should change, imo. Of course unless the defender in that situation is already set in place and does not move once the player left the ground. In this case however the defender was not set before Villars left the ground, he slid in underneath him after he had already left the ground. So a no call was likely right whether the shot went in or not.

I don't know the exact rule, but I'm curious how many feet the shooter is allowed to come down when shooting such a shot? Or is it just up to the refs to make the call on the fly? Seems to be a lot of grey area there. Not saying you're wrong, it would be nice to know the difference in the rule between a running shooter or a jump shooter as far as being allowed to land safely after the shot attempt. This type of shot is similar to a guard driving from the three point line and putting up a floater around the foul line instead of stopping for a jumpshot at the foul line. Are they not given freedom of movement in that instance either?

I don't have much to say at the moment but Ashland came back to win the game on a 16-3 run. Ashland was outplayed and should have lost the game, but once again they were clutch in what appeared to be getting the game to overtime. Then the shot happened, I dunno what else to say. Sportscenter.

I'm with ya on that and if I had anyone on the Greenup County team I'd keep my mouth shut about it because I feel like parents should let the coaches do their job, without adding distractions. It's just an observation of mine and I'm sure coach Amos has his reasoning for it, it could be as simple as letting Dryden learn the position he would likely play at the next level. I do still feel like they would have a solid shot at upsetting some teams ahead of them if they put him in the post though. But that's not my call to make lol.

Can't really argue your logic, imo. I would have it about the same but could make an argument for Greenup since they won the most recent meeting against Raceland, I think that one went to OT though and was at Greenup. Raceland has the better overall record though and all three of those teams seem pretty much equal to me. As an Ashland fan it doesn't really matter much to me but I feel like they are under utilizing Dryden. With his size and athleticism he would be hard to stop in the post in this region. Yet he spends most of his time on offense out around the top of the key. Going forward, assuming he get college offers he likely won't be playing in the post so I get it to an extent. But he would have his way in the post against most 16th region teams, which would make Greenup County a better team than they have been thus far.

It is a really tough draw, for any of those you mentioned. But that's part of it, just gotta go out and string a few really good games together. If they do make it to Rupp they will have plenty of fan support there with them, I haven't seen attendance levels this high for Ashland games in 20 years.

Yes and no, but they gotta get out of the region first. If they accomplish that goal then they certainly have a legit shot, but so do about 6-8 other teams at that point. They're undersized but make up for that with their shooting ability/ball movement (they're one of the best passing teams I've ever seen at the high school level) on offense and their speed and coaching adjustments on defense. They're the kind of team that if just looking at their roster and size they wouldn't typically be in the conversation. The fact that they're undefeated though isn't a fluke, they have been clutch when they have needed to be to pull out a close win. The kids have a lot of fight (will to win) in them and coach Mays has done a great job of putting them in the position to win games when they aren't shooting as well as usual. That said, they rely on their shooting ability to essentially "break" teams and go on big scoring runs to put the game away. When their shooting is off, they're certainly beatable by the other top teams in the state and they're not shooting that well at the moment. They seem to play their best when they're playing top teams though, so it's entirely possible they can run a few games off in a row of really good shooting and win the thing. Personally I believe they are a year or two away from that, but they're still legit contenders (if they get there) this season.

Awesome, I recognized the name but wasn't sure and had no idea he was coaching at Collins. He was a really good ball player in his day. Congrats to him on the wins as well.

Is this the Chris Gaither that played high school ball back around 2000?

I'm not sure how this one played out but Bath isn't as bad as their record indicates. I watched them play Ashland and while they didn't look great in that game I came away impressed with their center. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the difference maker in this game.

I know, I was more less saying both of those two have seen each other in person so they both have an idea of how the other plays.
