  1. I dunno, maybe they were being hardwired into the walls during construction rather than adding them after the fact? He was on foot, how much was he going to be able to steal if that were his intentions? I'm not a thief but I'd imagine you would need a vehicle to steal anything worth much value at a construction site, most power tools and such that could be carried off easily are taken home or to the shop by the construction workers at the end of the day.
  2. The house being built was left wide open, I doubt anyone left anything there worth any value to steal. Not to mention the victim didn't have anything stolen on him, a weapon, etc. In other words you can't just kill someone because they may or may not have stole something.
  3. To be honest a lot of them don't mind, particularly if its a new subdivision or an addition to a subdivision. There literally isn't anything left on site worth any value to steal and if nothing else it helps sell the homes, as long as they are well built homes. In my line of work I've seen a lot of the inside of homes that are being built, due to doing the sod, landscaping etc. To be honest they're not all built equally and if I were going to purchase a freshly built home I would want to see how it was framed, etc if I had the option to do so. Walking up and looking at it during the building phases is a good way to do that. I've done that in the past, my uncle who is retired police has as well. That doesn't mean either of us had intentions to steal or damage the property. Again, if there is signage telling you to stay away then that's different. But if there isn't said signage I feel like it's fair game to take a look at it without fearing being shot to death.
  4. I get where you're coming from but I'm not on board with it completely. People walk up to new housing developments, subdivisions, homes for sale on a regular basis. People that have no intent of stealing anything, or destroying anything. If the property is left wide open like this one was and there are no signs saying trespassers will be shot, or prosecuted, then it seems like fair game to me as long as the persons intentions are to just look around. But then again even if they did plan on stealing something I'd never put myself in a position to have to kill them, by showing up with guns in hand. All in all its a bad scenario and the ppl in the truck never should have confronted the guy the way they did. Its just asking for something bad to happen then falling back on a defense that they were protecting themselves. While the victim likely had the same mindset when he saw a shotgun pointed at him. In other words, regardless of their intentions, they turned this into something that could have been avoided. On top of that I'm not sure what their intentions were, but either they are idiots or they had bad intentions from the beginning.
  5. While yes that can be misleading that he was gunned down for being black, regardless it appears he was gunned down for no reason, regardless of skin color. Personally I feel like a lot of it had to do with his skin color, or maybe he and the father/son had issues in the past. Regardless of the kids intentions, race, etc, the people that encountered him were ready to kill him before he even encountered them. So I don't get the part about saying he wasn't just out for a jog when he really could have been. The others attempted to detain an unarmed man with a shotgun for no reason at all it seems. When you approach someone that's unarmed and seemingly doing nothing wrong you don't know how they are going to react. In this situation it appears he feared for his life and attempted to disarm the person with the shotgun. Which is not something I would try to do myself, you may as well keep running if you're not armed yourself. But he never should have been put in that situation to have to think on how to react to having a shotgun pointed at him for no reason anyway. I can't get behind defending these dudes, hate crime or not, they are the ones that made the mistakes that led to someone losing their life.
  6. How are we being mislead? That sounds like an assumption to me. He clearly wasn't walking in the video from the home construction, it was more like a fast walk or even slowing down from a faster paced jog. He was a former football player so maybe he likes to stay in shape, hence going for a jog? To me it seems like he was out for exercise and happened to pass by a home that was being constructed and left completely open. He took a break from jogging and walked through the house, then continued his jog without stealing anything or damaging anything. Then he was confronted by people in a truck, stopped at a stop sign waiting on him with guns in hand. He did nothing to show that he wasn't just out for a jog and looked at a new home being built. Have you ever been out for a drive and see a house for sale that you like and stop and look the property over? I have several times and not once did I feel like doing so would get me shot.
  7. But thats what I'm getting at, the facts. He visited a construction site but didn't steal anything nor damage anything, seems as if he was just looking around or resting for a few minutes. For what its worth since he's no longer here to tell anyone exactly what he was doing there are going to be assumptions, just like questioning whether he was really just out for a jog or not. But so far, video evidence, reports of nothing stolen or damaged etc, shows that he committed no crime.
  8. Since he's unable to tell his side of what happened and there is no evidence that he did anything wrong at the construction site I feel like we just have to assume he was out for a jog and stopped there to look around, maybe rest for a minute, then resumed his jog. I completely agree with your last sentence.
  9. You are likely right. To add my own thoughts to that, pursuit can be looked at in different ways. It doesn't appear that he ever confronted the victim, so if he was just following at a safe distance and relaying their location to 911 then that's different imo. However if the story is flipped and it turns out that the whole thing was a setup to murder the victim and he was part of that (to video the confrontation) then he should be charged accordingly, due to the premeditated aspect of that scenario.
  10. Likely not much since it appears that he never got out of the vehicle. But possibly failure to report a crime or maybe render aid depending on what he did after the video was shut off. I'm just speculating. The other two deserve the maximum sentence for whatever they ultimately end up being indicted on, but its hard to say about the person filming without knowing more specifics.
  11. To stimulate the economy. To be honest the stimulus checks were never intended to keep people that are not allowed to work afloat, because it wouldn't be enough to do so long term. Thats what unemployment and the extra $600 a week being added to it is for. With the stimulus checks they're banking on people spending that money on things not needed to survive, to help stimulate the economy and keep businesses afloat. Personally I haven't spent any of mine but had been thinking of buying a new carry pistol prior to any of this happening, springfield and sig have a couple of nice, new micro compact pistols out that I like. But since I can't go get my license renewed at the moment I doubt the local gun shop could sell me one right now, so I moved the money to savings.
  12. I'm with ya on that. I understand PP92's reasoning but to be honest carrying on your body that way is never a good idea. If you're ever in a situation where you would have to use it you become a stationary target while trying to ready your weapon. In a lot of scenarios thats gonna get you shot.
  13. Well that was my plan for our dinner, not happening though as the line is backed up on the shoulder of US60 about a quarter of a mile, then it wraps around the building to the drive thru. At least an hour wait to get through the line, ill give them my business on a different day this week. Tonight is looking like Philly cheesesteaks, a BLT and wings, all with homemade potato chips from another local place, Reds place.
  14. I live directly under one of the landing paths for HTS in Huntington. Its not a busy airport at all so I typically know the times that a commercial jet will fly over. It has been much less frequent over the past month and the times are a bit sporadic. The only thing that has really remained the same as far as frequency and timing goes are the FedEx jets.
  15. My dad's pizza in Ashland. It was actually a libwich, but I still consider that pizza.
  16. Tres Hermanos Nunez locally has a deal going today. Twenty tacos, a pan of beans and a pan of rice for $17.99. It also comes with tortilla chips and a small side of queso like every order does. If you save your receipt they will give you 15% off your next order as well. Great deal!
  17. Fried or blackened grouper for the win, but there is only one place locally that you can get a really good one and thats because the restaurant owners came here from Naples, Florida. Number two would be Philly cheesesteak, I don't care if it's authentic or not, generally they're all good. Third place would be any type of steak hoagie or stromboli sandwich, bonus points if its a thicker homemade patty as opposed to the traditional frozen patties you generally see. For any of you all that like a good Grouper sandwich like you would get in Florida you can't go wrong with The Winchester in Ashland.
  18. Yet the reason Florida was one of the last states to shut down and first to reopen is due to the tourism industry, which brings in people from all over the Country. How ironic, hah. For what its worth the parents of a friend of mine have a condo in Florida, they traveled down there over the weekend and there was a checkpoint at the state line, but due to having a physical address in Florida they were allowed to continue and there was nothing mentioned to them about self isolating for two weeks.
  19. I think you hit the nail on the head with the last sentence. I love to cook so I have a generalization of what foods don't work for takeout. Steak and most seafood thats not fried top that list for me. Steak is typically best when its served after a 2-3 minute rest. I get your complaint though, some restaurants (Texas Roadhouse for instance) need to water down their menu a bit during these times. They could so burgers, tenders, ribs etc and do just fine without having upset customers.
  20. What would the flu numbers look like with no vaccine or no known working treatment? Obviously we're at the point of treatments being available now but its kinda been a trial and error thing, where as we have known how to treat the flu for years and a lot of people get vaccinated for it.
  21. My take from that is that if you take away the flu vaccine and years of experience in learning how to treat it, compared to none of that with covid-19 they may actually be more equal than we are assuming. In other words if we had experience as well as a vaccine for this virus, it would likely look very similar to the flu that we deal with every year, as far as numbers go.
  22. My points are mainly referring to my line of work. I get wearing masks in stores and such, though why we don't need to do that tomorrow but will be required to on May 11th is a bit mind boggling though. My issue is telling me I have to work in one when its completely unnecessary. I dont have to be around d any of our customers to do my job, nor touch anything on their property, so how exactly is me wearing a mask while doing a landscaping job or mowing a lawn keeping myself or anyone else from catching the rona? The only thing its going to do is make myself and our workers miserable as it gets warmer out. Imagine working a labor intensive job in 85-90 degree weather all day long wearing one of those things, when you aren't even near anyone to infect. Its silliness, to be honest, they can fine me for mowing grass without a mask if they want, ill fight it and likely win.
  23. You're speculating. I can do rule number one and rule number two without speaking to anyone or touching anything the general public touches all day long at work, yet I'm told I have to buy and wear a mask. Again, no thanks. Not to mention the fact you forgot to reason on why I don't need the mask tomorrow or yesterday, but I do need it on May 11th. But going to lowes to buy flowers on May 10th without a mask is perfectly okay. The rules are not well thought out.
  24. Are they giving them away or are we being forced to buy something we don't want? I'm thinking there is a large surpluses of masks and they need sold.
  25. Honestly no it doesn't. I've been working this entire time, now I need a mask all of a sudden? If the mask was that essential it should have been mandated when I was told I'm "essential." Does that make any sense? For what its worth my job requires no contact with anyone other than the person in the vehicle with me, which we have regular contact anyway, so that doesn't change much of anything. I'm just not sure why masks weren't required before with all of the people frequenting lowes, grocery stores etc. Those places are as full as I've ever seen them. Yet I need a mask to be outside on May 11th, but I'm fine if I don't have one on May 10th? No thanks.
