  1. Like a well oiled machine! Regardless of what happens the rest of this season it's been a great one. Honestly Ashland is a year or two ahead of schedule and most of these kids will be around for 2 or more years. The kids coming up from middle school look promising as well. Its an exciting time for Tomcat fans.
  2. That is one of the really nice things about it. Just like the premium subscriptions like HBO, etc everything can be done via remote control. That said losing the fox sports regional networks is a big blow. It won't really effect me because about all I watch on their regional networks would be the Reds and I don't sit and watch most of it anyway, just have it on in the background and I can do that with radio.
  3. I'm pretty sure any of the comments that mentioned his rebound average were to show how it may effect GC basketball going into the district tournament. I never noticed anyone mention it in a negative way...
  4. Sounds like a good story to me. They still have a lot of work to do though.
  5. I feel like their focus came back after the West Carter game. Boyd did exactly what they needed to do tonight to win, but Ashland still found a way to steal it away from them. It would be a great story but it's unlikely to happen. The odds are stacked against them no matter how good they can be.
  6. You wouldn't expect it when you see them come out on the floor, but you're absolutely right in what you said above. Throughout the season when in close games they always step it up a notch it seems and pull out the win. They have been clutch all season in games like this but now they're at the point where you win or go home. We'll have to wait and see how that plays out.
  7. I believe Ashland only hit 4 threes tonight. That's the recipe to beat them, but they still won.
  8. I'm not sure what was scored in the two overtimes but that probably had a lot to do with it.
  9. Football is king here on BGP, which is why I imagine you see more peoplel voice their opinion on this on the football side of blowouts. It is what it is in my opinion, sometimes teams are just that much better than their opponents. In this situation Male didn't schedule this team to beat up on them, they had to play them to advance in the tournament. To be honest it doesn't sound like they intentionally ran the score up either, they probably could have scored 150 if they had wanted to.
  10. For what was bolded in the quote if you live in the city limits of Ashland you not only pay a school tax for them but also pay into the Boyd County school system.
  11. I would think Greenup and Lewis County could be added to the list given the circumstances.
  12. It would be ironic if he was living in Ashland and not paying tuition due to the spat GC and Raceland had about kids wishing to go to Raceland but lived in GC's district. Maybe someone from Raceland could clear it up a little more (I admit I don't know a lot about what was going on) but from what i remember GC somehow managed to stop students in their own district from transferring to Raceland. Im speaking mainly on non athletes but given what I know about kids legally being able to transfer at will in KY I thought that was odd that they were able to stop transfers to keep kids in their own district. I would have to assume it was likely due to tuition needing to be paid? I dunno, but I'll try and find those articles again and research it. If Dryden was in fact living in Ashland and going to GCHS I would assume he would have to pay tuition as well then. It would be quite ironic and look even worse if he wasn't. Edit: A quick search on the GC/Raceland spat turned up this from the ADI. Official rules against Raceland in non-resident enrollment dispute with Greenup | News | dailyindependent.com
  13. Porter finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. He's eventually going to land that tripple double if he keeps rebounding the way he has been. As far as his numbers go we all knew he can put up points, particularly when he drives to the basket or has an open look at a set shot. He also may be the best passer I've ever seen (in person) as a high school freshman so the assists make sense as well. The way he rebounds though is what is mind blowing, given his size. At one point he led the team in rebounds this season, as far as I know he still does. His size has been questioned as a potential liability at the next level but with his athleticism, court vision and general basketball IQ his lack of height doesn't seem to be as big of an issue as most would expect.
  14. It wasn't sarcasm. It's just not possible to police that is what I was getting at. Whether it be rural Greenup county that has a land area about the size of Jefferson County, or urban Louisville, it's just not possible. Basically it's an honor system and the khsaa only gets involved when something is brought to their attention. Outside of that whatever address lands on a piece of paper is fair game because they honestly have no clue who lives at said address. Again its basically an honor system like state campgrounds are when you go camp there out of season. Unfortunately the honor system isn't reliable in this day of age.
  15. Yeah they can't just go driving around and checking to see if kids live at the addresses they put on a piece of paper. It's just not possible.
  16. Regardless someone at the top of the ladder had to listen and agree to it. You don't police things that you don't have the resources to police. Sets ya up for failure.
  17. I agree but also feel like kids and parents should be able to decide where their kids go to school as well as being able to play sports at said school. The KHSAA doesn't allow that though in terms of transfers so it is what it is.. you have to respect the rules. That said, the KHSAA doesn't have the ability to enforce their own rules unless someone calls and complains. That's the issue I have with any scenario like this one. It's essentially an honor system until you get caught and that doesn't work in today's world. Some schools will get by with it on a regular basis, others will not.
  18. For what it's worth I feel like kids should be able to go to whatever school they or their parents decide. They should also be allowed to play sports at said school. That said, its not how the rules are written and you have to respect the rules. Leaving Woodford County or the Lexington area for Greenup County isn't exactly what I'd consider joining someone better either. Seems that there is a lot more to this story than just transferring to go to a better program.
  19. Not that I don't agree with you in general but I wouldn't necessarily say it would make the road tough for the higher seeded teams if Greenup was bumped down in seeding. The numbers Dryden was putting up will be nearly impossible for them to replace in such short notice. That said the KHSAA never acts quickly on a final ruling, so there won't be any changes in Greenup Countys season thus far. By the time it's over and done with they will likely be handed losses for every game he played in. That's a moot point at the moment though.
  20. I would imagine eventually the games Dryden played in will go down as losses once the KHSAA makes a final ruling. That won't happen until sometime during the off season though.
