I think the fire marshall has it capped off at 1700, it's not a large gym. Last night there were people standing in the lobby trying to watch through the doors due to no open seats. I could't make tonight's game but I imagine it was much of the same.

According to the media this one will resume tomorrow at 2pm, with 1:04 left in the third. Ashland will lead 49-31 when the game resumes.

I'm not sure what the deal with the floor is, I know it was recently refinished/polyurethaned. So condensation does make sense, but the Russell game was standing room only last night and I didnt notice the slips.

Game is suspended until 2pm tomorrow due to floor conditions.

Game seems to be on hold as police are dealing with an incident after someone was removed from the gym.

After a double technical it appears the refs are gonna call this one really close the rest of the way.

Ashland 45-29 with about 4 minutes left in the third.

Ashland with a 5-0 run to start the second half. Timeout Boyd. Good timeout, imo, Ashland has has some really big 3rd quarters throughout the season.

Ashland leads 32-29 at the half.

Ashland leads 28-25 with three minutes left in the half.

20-16 Ashland at the end of the first. Boyd is doing what they need to do in attacking the basket. If they continue that and slow the speed of the game down a bit this should be a really close game.

Both of these teams are wanting to get out and run, Ashland leads 13-9 with 5 minutes left in the first.

It has. Mainly due to Ashlands lack of size. They do really well for their size though, but it will be their achilles heel. They have had been in foul trouble though. You'd have to watch some of their other games to really appreciate them. Judging them off from one game with Trinity doesn't tell ya much.

Yeah their defense seems underappreciated, imo. Their defense will carry them in games where they don't shoot well, for the most part. If they're hitting their shots on top of that they're hard to beat. One of the big things with this Ashland team that doesn't get mentioned very often is how young they are. Freshmen and sophomores essentially.

Yeah, they beat Trinity at their own game in that one. Held Trinity to one of their lowest point totals of the season as well. Ashland's shooting ability gets most of the attention, but their defense is very good as well.

They have yet to lose a game and even though their RPI took a major hit from playing four out of state teams so far, they're still in the top three or so for that as well. These cats are good, regardless of how they looked against Trinity.

Great atmosphere tonight, James A. Anderson was standing room only. That's all I'm gonna say.

Trinity is a hard game to judge Ashland on. Ashland has 7 or so wins against teams that I would consider better than Trinity. Ashland looked bad against Trinity but I credit that to Trinity's defense, they seem to make a lot of teams "look bad" due to the low scoring games. For whatever reason Trinity is still struggling to win those games even though they keep the score low and close. That said, it's hard for me to judge any particular team that has played Trinity based off from that one game alone. They remind me of Virginia in college ball, they're just struggling to get the win in those close, low scoring games.

That would be my key to the game but it's easier said than done. Several teams have tried to slow Ashland down and kept things really close for the first half. Mays makes great halftime adjustments, speeds the game up and then the next thing you know Ashland is up by 20. Given that the team is basically all guards Ashland can apply enough defensive pressure to speed the game up when they want/need to. Trinity has done the best job of slowing Ashland down so far, but they are also an excellent defensive team. To me the Shamrocks defense slowed Ashland down, as opposed to their style of play. I'm just not sure if anyone in the 16th can do that though. That said Ashland will take some losses in the region, from who is anyone's guess though.

Anything can happen when Ashland has an off night shooting and that will most certainly happen at some point. But when Ashland is playing their best they're probably 15-20 points better than anyone in the region. That's not me as an Ashland fan saying that, just how I see it. Ashland is a big man away from being a really special team. That said, the 16th region teams that have the best chance to upset Ashland are gonna be the teams that have a really good big man, post player. Greenup comes to mind with Dryden but from what I have seen out of them he's not being utilized properly. Spends a lot of time on offense at the top of the key, rather than down low, that won't work for him against Ashland. Honestly I believe Greenup would have beat Raceland if they used him down low more often.

Hush up now. The Tomcats are embracing the underdog role. Seriously though, if not for the out of state teams, which were all really solid teams Ashland would be getting more respect, from the RPI etc, but most here in Kentucky have no idea whether those teams are good or not. Hence the .500 rpi for said teams. I think the #5 range that BGP has them at is suitable though. Eventually not having a big man will catch up with them, it has to.

I said the same thing about football. It did seem to work itself out though. Basketball is a different animal but I don't believe the khsaa plans on using it anytime soon for basketball. Seems like a trial period to me.

I'm not so sure on that. There is a reason that the khsaa has implemented it in nearly every sport, maybe every sport. They're testing the waters so to speak.
