  1. Ashland still isn't 100%, even with the time off. It's hard to tell how much that will effect this game at the moment but I feel like Rowan gets the win.
  2. A potential John Hardin/Ashland matchup in the first round would be two top 5 teams.
  3. Greenup County has made it official. Zack Moore is the new head coach.
  4. I only did football years ago so I would be speculating on the basketball side of things.
  5. I get it. Seems like most schools that want the college length courts do so to host regional tournaments. In my area (16th region) there isn't alternate tournament sites, it's at Morehead State every year. But I do see your point. It makes sense to have a college length court if you have the opportunity to host a regional tournament or even like you said for practice for a regional tournament or the sweet 16. I'd imagine there is a bit more cost as well though unless they sacrifice space along the baselines.
  6. I highly doubt it. There would be a lot of assumptions to think they will be playing each other again in three weeks. Coaches typically don't plan that way.
  7. Committee, same as football. There is a lot of thought an discussion among the voters that you don't see in the AP or computer rankings.
  8. My best guess is because it's a high school court and I don't believe any colleges will be using it.
  9. No, the game would just be like any other regular season game between the two teams.
  10. The discrepancy between these two polls is hilarious and essentially tells ya that neither one is accurate. High school basketball is hard to rank, but once again I feel like the BGP rankings are the most accurate.
  11. For sure hah. My 8 year old could likely compile a comparable list as them and she would likely just put her favorite mascots in order for her list.
  12. Figured I'd give this one a few days before I bumped it back up. In my opinion this one could go either way but I feel like the Vikings hand the Tomcats their first loss of the season. Rowan has been playing really well and their inside presence will likely cause Ashland some problems early in the game. With nearly two weeks between games I'm not sure Ashland can overcome a slow start in this one. For Ashland to get the win in this one they're gonna have to come out playing like they were in the AIT and I just don't see that happening.
  13. Mason is playing like a top three team at this point, imo. I can't argue the ranking because they have nine losses. But at this point in time I wouldn't want to draw them in the upcoming tournaments. Winning the region may be a stretch but I could see them playing for the title.
  14. I feel like Lex Cath is the better team but Henry Clay could certainly pull off the upset. I don't really see anyone other than one of those two winning the region though.
  15. Congrats to the Dragons! I saw glimpses of what they're capable of in the AIT, they were just lacking consistency. This game shows what they're capable of when they play like they are able for all four quarters.
  16. North Hopkins seems to be playing as well as anyone at the right time. They're gonna be a tough out for anyone in the tournaments.
  17. A lot can change between now and 2023 but Colin is projected to be a high major D1 player. I've seen him rated as high as the #2 pg in his class and all rankings I've seen have him in the top 5. It seems that he and LeBrons son have developed a competitive friendship on the aau circuit.
  18. We had it pretty good at Paul Blazer (for school food) back in the day and I hear it's even better now with locally grown foods as well as rapid fired pizza that has replaced rectangular school pizza. But I'll throw a few favorites out there in no particular order. Spaghetti - every thursday, kids ran to lunch on Thursdays. Taco salad - available daily and was really good for nacho style taco salad. Antipasto Salad - available daily. Really large portion with plenty of deli meats. Steak hoagie - available once a week. Salisbury Steak - available once a week. Hot ham and cheese - available daily. Baked lasagna - was rare to get this one but it would pop up a couple of times a month. I believed they actually used ricotta cheese. School pizza - available daily. I like school pizzas but we had plenty of other options so as my high school years progressed I found myself eating it less often.
  19. I feel the same as 4 quarters. Top level talent does seem to be slightly down this season, but not by much since there is usually only a couple of thise type of players a year anyway. As a whole I don't think the talent level is down though, there are some really good "teams" that could hang with some of the best programs in the country.
  20. Mason has been playing really well recently. A lot of their losses are really close as well. Seems they're better than most think, I could see them making a run in the regional tournament.
  21. I couldn't see any issue with using it then. A propane torch is a propane torch. As long as unburnt fuel isn't hitting (which would be unlikely) the food then I can't see it being any different than using a chef's propane torch or a gas grill.

  23. After what will be nearly two weeks off due to games being rescheduled and postponed due to the flu, Ashland will visit @zebraman's number two team in the region this coming Tuesday (2/11). So what are everyone's thoughts? Will the Tomcats continue to roll or will the two weeks off have them out of shape/practice? Or is Rowan County just the better team playing at home? Who wins and why?
  24. I've never heard that the weed burner things are bad for food but if they are lower btu then there could be some unburnt fuel hitting the meat. I feel like you would taste that though, so if you haven't I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Chefs use mapp torches frequently to sear meats and deserts like creme brulee.
