Here comes the Campbell, Scott and Brossart shouldn't be in the 10th comments. So I'll just say what I say every time, you have to draw the lines somewhere.

For Bracken the decision is simple, why should they give St. Pat and Augusta their biggest gate every year if they won't seed? For St. Pat and Augusta it is not an issue of draw or seed but a money issue. By voting to draw, they have made that clear. So Bracken hit them where it hurt most, the pocket book. By refusing to play at Augusta and at St. Pat they have taken away what is routinely both schools biggest gates (not counting Mason going to St. Pat for the first time in 50 years this year- and something Mason won't do again). Bracken did not cancel the series with Augusta and St. Pat, they simply said all games will be in the Igloo until the district is seeded. St. Pat and Augusta chose not to play them on the road because financially it doesn't benefit them. I don't blame the people in charge in Brooksville one bit, it does them zero good to go to those two places when the result means absolutely nothing except helping the other two schools financially. In short, there will be no regular season games outside of Brooksville between Bracken and the other two schools until the district is seeded, just like 60 of the other 64 districts in the state.

Also have heard "it's better to leave one year to early than one year to late."

Ludlow would be very lucky to get him if this is true. He's done an amazing job at Bracken County.

Lines have to get drawn somewhere. While the tenth region isn't what it used to be in terms of the county schools all playing one another it has became a better region in terms of quality basketball with the addition of Brossart, Campbell County, and Scott. Sorry but no one in their right mind would dispute that.

I rarely post on here but I feel the need to now. Here goes: I think it goes to show you how great a program Highlands is when they go 3-8, basically get whipped in a playoff game in the first round, and this thread is 7 pages long. Some people on here say what they want to make themselves feel better because their program can't each the pinnacle and in the end basically embarrass kids they don't know along the way. Classy.

Until the KHSAA steps in and does something about this district nothing is going to happen. And if St. Pat and Augusta draw each other this year in the 39th then the winner of the 37th, 38th, or 40th district might as well have a bye in the 10th region tournament.

A 20 year old with no kids should only be worried about taking care of himself. And I don't mean that in a be selfish way where he isn't a team player, doesn't pass, etc... The young man saw an opportunity and he took advantage of it. He owes no one anything. And I say that being a Michigan fan.

David Henley played for Carlisle County in 83 and led Holmes to the State Tournmaent a few times, winning it all in 2009.

Since this is in theory the four most important players/ coaches/ people and not just the best players I'll take a stab with Holmes: John "Bud" Wimzie: Played on the '78 team and has basically been there ever since. No one has meant more to the young people in Covington. He could be mayor tomorrow if he wanted to be. Gary Huhn: 50 years keeping the book for the basketball team and continues to teach math at Holmes. He's the only person that has been a part of all the great teams in school history. He's also the best teacher to ever walk on that campus. Ricky Beal: Played at UK. We all know his story. Ricardo Johnson: Great player. Greater person. Current GA at Xavier. Despite all the controversy in 78 and the close calls he makes this list because he's the only player in school history that's the MVP of the state tournament. I realize who this leaves off: Jennings, Pittman, Reynolds Flynn, David Henley and especially Doug Schlomer. All of these men are especially deserving. What's even crazier is if you look at the girls side then you have to find room for Erica Hallman. After seeing this thread this really took some thought and I just wish more faces could be on the mountain!

Another problem is way to many parents are illogical in their thinking here as well.

Urban inner-city schools such as Holmes, Newport, and Cincinnati Public are a revolving door and everyone knows it. Only time anyone says a word is when an athlete moves.

I'm not sure what rain NKY is expecting Saturday but it does beg the question, why not go to the Freedom stadium (if available) or Holmes? Both have turf and teams could wait out the rain.

Scott has been helped tremendously by the new youth program being started in Taylor Mill. Some of the players on this current team are the kids who played for them. They are no longer losing the majority of their players to SK, Dixie, and CCH and the results have shown on the field.

While there could be a million reasons for this it's not hard to figure out what is going on. Bracken has a chance to win the tenth next year and wants to seed to make sure they get there. That being said I think all districts should be seeded.

Stapleton and Elsbernd did the J.V. team together at Scott. Stapleton was the head coach and he is definitely ready. It looked Stapleton like was coaching the offense and Elsbernd was doing most of the defensive stuff. They worked well together from what I could tell. Them two were constantly out scouting together as well. Wouldn't be surprised if one of them got a HC job somewhere if the other was his assistant.

13-16 with a brutal schedule. Beat both teams they could have played in the semis during the regular season as well.

4 quarters worth of takeaways from the game yesterday: 1. Living in NKY, that's to far to drive for a regional tournament. I don't blame the 37th for trying to get CCMS or NKU every four years if they can. Like I've said before move it to Mason and be done with it, it's just to far away from most of the region. 2. Jake Ohmer is the best player I've seen in the tenth region. That can be open for debate, but the next player I see in the tenth that can guard him will be the first. 3. The Augusta kids, not just Snapp, Maddox, and Crawford simply put are winners. 4. Can't help but feel a little for Brad Carr and his staff. They've been close so many times to going to Rupp since joining the tenth, and this may well have been the best shot they've had. Overtime: Players from both teams showed a tremendous amount of class during and after the game. It reminded me of a fight that went the full 12 rounds and afterwards both hugged and shook hands. Good to see in this day and age.

Personally I thought that was great. With as far apart as the 10th region is I support doing this every year. Drove down to maysville, watch two games, some Pasquale's inbetween and then two more games. It's hard to have that much fun for $25-30. And yes, that includes some Fieldhouse popcorn.

I've been following the 10th region for a few years now. I don't claim to know all the history and tradition like some people do. I have some friends who I turn to when I need answers in that department. With that being said, I have been able to make one conclusion that I stand firm on when it comes to the tenth. Every tenth region tournament game should start with "Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to The Fieldhouse." On top of the tradition it holds, it is bigger, IMO more comfortable, and I don't have to drive like Earnhardt going three wide at Daytona to get there on time. Move it to Maysville and be done with it.

2013 Augusta over Mason County was huge, especially because it happened in The Fieldhouse.
