  1. Glad to hear that “Mr. Ludlow” is doing well. Have known Mr. Clary since I was born and he truly a wonderful person.
  2. Quarterback... that is up for debate, but I would say Lorenzen or Guidugli. I will also say this, had Brandent Englemon been in high school in this day and age he would have been recruited as a QB a lot more. I realized he played Safety on some good teams at Michigan but he would have been a DI QB somewhere if he desired the way offenses are run now.
  3. It's not just the district that tournament that takes a hit, it's also the region. When the best two teams in the district draw each other that means that the two worst teams draw each other. This usually leads to a bad team in the regional tournament and a district winner from another district getting a pretty easy road into the semifinals.
  4. Here is the thing people don't realize about Bracken County in this matter, they firmly believe that seeding the district in all athletic events is what's best Bracken County athletes and the school district. They also have the facility to host and they are going to do it. The "vote" that was illegal was a power play that didn't work out and everything is right back to where it started, and Bracken County deserves credit for standing firm and doing what they believe is best for their kids.
  5. I can't stand the ones who use 20 words to say what can be said in about 7.
  6. After one week of the regular season lets here some (over)reactions: Which team is surprisingly good? Suprisingly bad? Good team that simply lost to a better team? The team that was overrated? Team that will struggle until they get into district play? Team that will get wins early and then struggle in district play?
  7. Two years ago one of the parents of the players leaving was basically trying to steer a whole AAU team to Holy Cross. When the parent was unable to do so a thread like this popping up was just a matter of time. People are fickle.
  8. Not doubting that some coaches try and find access during the dead period, but most high school coaches are on vacation this time of year.
  9. He coaches the middle school football team at BC as well.
  10. What school wouldn't want to give their own kids the opportunity to play post season games at home? Bracken meets all the requirements listed by the KHSAA to host, so if once every four years they decide to host, then let them host.
  11. Two teams in the district have played both played more games than the two other teams... combined.
  12. Any time table for when a coach will be named?
  13. Here is the no votes for sure: Augusta St. Patrick Robertson Nicholas Silver Grove Calvary Here is your yes votes for sure: Scott Campbell Brossart The only reason I say they are for it is because they know earning the 1 seed in the district means they go the regional. The other two slug it out and see who goes with the one seed. It gets tricky with every other school in the region (Mason, Bracken, Pendleton, Harrison, and the entire 40th district. I don't seed how a super regional benefits Mason or Bracken. They hope to not draw each other every year I get that, but would you rather play Augusta or St. Pat or (sometimes) for a chance to get into the elite 8 of your region or have to possibly play one of the other teams on this list. You could take the same argument and make it for Harrison and Pendleton that you make for Bracken and Mason. In the 40th, which I believe to be the toughest district 1-4 in the region I have no idea what would be done. Yes it would benefit Paris this year, but would it every year? Yes it would hurt MoCo this year, but would it help them in other years. If you need 2/3 vote to pull it off I think the 10th would struggle to get it. My guess is this would be how it comes out: Yes: Scott Campbell Brossart GRC Montgomey MoCo Paris No: Calvary SG All four of the 38th All four of the 39th That would tally to: No- 10 (58%) Yes- 7 (41%) To get the 2/3 vote you would need 12 total votes which is 70.5 % of the vote. I don't think it would pass.
  14. Here is your con, nearly half the region can't find a way to seed a district. Getting half of that region to agree to find a way to seed a tournament four times the size of a district... good luck!
  15. I'm positive one coach gets to rank the officials from last night and the other one doesn't. I'm positive those three would like to do postseason games. I'm positive every questionable call went the way of Williamstown. I'm positive that crew was the worst one I've ever seen on a basketball court. They may not care who wins, but they do care who they please.
  16. They intentionally grabbed the ball and refused to give it to BC. The clock never stopped. The ref never blew the whistle. No delay, game over. When Williamstown was saying it should have been a delay BC was saying that's a technical for intentionally not giving the ball even after 4 seconds. Bottom line is this, this win was not sexy at all for BC. It was the second game of a back to back, had an emotional night on Tuesday with Austin getting 3k points, and had to travel an hour and a half the next night to a out of region game. The Polar Bears found a way to beat the team playing against them all night, all 8 of them.
  17. Nor have I. I'm not even sure they actually exist. The crew last night had no idea how to even call a basketball game, I can promise they didn't know what the term "case play" means. As for a game being "under protest" I doubt you would ever get anywhere with it but it did make three officials run off the court as soon as it was said.
  18. Bracken County never had a chance to secure the ball. The Williamstown player grabbed the ball and held it and the officials did nothing. Had BC had a chance to get the ball by the time they did they could have stood out of bounds and let the horn go off. Bracken County immediately sent their team to the locker room. One coach from BC was saying "that's a case play and it has to be a technical foul by rule." He then told Coach Hinson to tell them "if they put time on this clock and don't call a technical to tell the officials and the official scorer this game is under protest." As soon as that was said the officials blew the whistle and said game over and ran off the court. In short, they knew had messed up, had no idea what time to put on the clock and didn't know if a T should have been called. So they tucked away their tail and ran. Total circus in Williamstown last night.
  19. I'm sure this will end up being like the 10th region tournament where every district, or in this case school gets to host and decides where. Mason and St. Pat will always go to the Fieldhouse, Bracken will go to the Igloo, and Augusta will be the only year it is in doubt, they'll choose between the two based off of their feelings that year one would assume.
  20. It takes a majority vote to do anything in this district. In essence this means that every district tournament will now be in the Fieldhouse, not just the next four years. If Augusta were to change their mind that would only be 2-2, and St. Pat and Mason will never vote for the Igloo. Until the KHSAA steps in or realignment the 39th will now be a draw district and in the The Fieldhouse every year!
  21. Four takeaways from last night: 1. Johnson is very good. He hit tough shots the whole second half. 2. That was a great atmosphere for high school basketball last night. 3. Bracken County is just tough, both mentally and physically. Who knows what the 39th draw will bring, but that isn't a team I would look forward to seeing come March. D. Paris could get To Frankfort and do further damage. They have the athleticism to play with anyone.
