Open Job: Boone County

Featured Replies

2 new coaches in the last 2 seasons, and the Lady Rebels are looking for a head coach once again. Who takes the job this time?

How desirable is this job in the first place?

Unfortunately I think it now ranks behind the other 3 schools in the District. Just not the plum job it once was.

Is this official?

It has not been officially listed as open on the school's or the KHSAA's website, but it is my understanding from several sources that the job is open.

Why do you say it is not desirable?

It was a good job because the coach was committed and knew what it took to have a good program. It is hard to find coaches with that type of dedication now. It is the same job as it always was.

Not true for any coaching job at Boone Co. Ryle and Cooper have pulled away much of the talent that Boone used to have. A lot has changed for Boone.

The problem at Boone as far as the coaching problem is not a coaching commitment problem. The problem is basically one parent of one player. She wants her daughter to be a star and if she can't manipulate them she starts a witch hunt. The problem lies with the administration at Boone not taking care of the problem which is one parent!

The Boone job is still desirable. There are several good candidates who can and would work hard to bring that program back to respectability. As for the parent, the new coach just has to set the boundaries.

I know one guy who was very interested in the job. I would assume the interest is still there. He'd do a nice job there.

And how does one do that?

A coach can set rules and guidelines for the parents but without the administration backing them up it's useless.
