  1. I would assume Brannen has the Spellman scholarship available. I haven't heard if he intends to use it this year or not. Perhaps there are some unsigned kids (juco?) who now have NKU on their radar based on recent success. Makes sense to use that scholarship to help balance out the classes.
  2. It's no different than people pulling for high school teams from the same region to do well in the state tournament (not all do, but most do). I have no problem with it.
  3. Only 18 of over 18 million brackets picked the sweet 16 correctly
  4. Sat down with 12:30 to play; came back I at the under 12 timeout.
  5. lol! Good one Let's try John Brannen's opinion > camelman's opinion Its all good. I'm not taking anything away from Jake's career. As I said, legendary.
  6. Let's not forget that NKU already has a 6'1" guard who scored 36.6 points per game in high school, can get to the rim at will, and is an absolute bucket filler. But IMO, his time is limited on the court because he is still learning to guard at the D1 level. I'm quite confident John Brannen knows who Jake Ohmer is, and has not offered. And as @TAC said, what Jake has produced the last two weeks is what he has been doing for several years. But the success of the the Norse the last two weeks also allows Brannen to cast his net a little wider, and in much deeper water. justsayin
  7. Whoa now! Aaron Craft was a 4-star recruit, and has dipped his toes in the NBA pool. Let's not get too far out over our skis.
  8. Very impressive run. Truly legendary. Where I have to put the brakes on the D1 discussion, though, and especially at NKU, is he's still 6'1", and has to play on the other side of the court. If you score 40, but the guy you're guarding scores 41, you're hurting the team. justsayin
  9. Jake had to shoot, but weakside help came over and a teammate was left open on low block. Could have been a game winning dish.
  10. Anything possible. Especially with a player who can make a shot from anywhere inside New Circle Road.
  11. Their best player (Hayes) got hurt with 5 minutes left in the first half, and never returned. I have no clue if Clemson is any good. They did have about a dozen losses in single digits, many to top 20 teams in the ACC. That said, a quality win on the road for the Grizzlies. Best team I saw in the Horizon this season.
  12. First round talent. If you don't draft him, then you have to figure out a way to stop/tackle him on Sunday. justsayin

  14. Last night was not indicative of how this team plays. They normally play about 9 guys, and all get significant minutes, and there's little drop off. Last night, both teams went down fighting with their best five guys, and they were gassed. Williams played 35 minutes (averages 24/game); I doubt there's been a game all year he's played 30. Murray played 36, averages 28. And it was their third game in 3 games. Heavy legs. Brannen "danced with the girl he brung". Not sure he subbed the last eight minutes. Kudos. That said, they're not beating UK/UL, but they play crisper than what you saw.
  15. Also, Albany over Vermont (America East). I'm hoping for a 14, but need 8-10 teams with higher RPI than 89. Possible, but not probable.
  16. How about this ... Scott/Campbell played three games this year: -each was decided on the last possession -each had a buzzer beating shot -each shot was made by the best three players: Bertsch, Hegyi, Ohmer Congratulations to all the young men for quality hoops. All memorable games.
  17. I have a simple question.... down two, with 7 seconds to play, how is it the ball NEVER touches Ohmer's hands, until after a long carom rebound???
  18. Great idea! As long as they don't put a tag on my seat!!
  19. I forgot about that! That was a great atmosphere when they made that run. Norse have their work cut out for them tonight. Not an easy task, but one they're up to.
  20. For years, we've seen tenacious m2m defense from the Colonels, with CVH often asked to face guard the head of whatever snake they were playing. Against the majority of opponents, that is effective when the drop off from stud to the rest is significant. The athleticism at all five positions for Cooper prevented that option.
  21. This. Got the ball several times at the block, made a nice turn to the basket, only to throw it out to the line. Puzzling. I'm not as hard on him as several are. I think it's obvious that he is told to "cause no harm". He certainly is not a point of emphasis, but that's probably more a result of stellar options in CVH and CJ. Entire team had more of a "play not to lose" than a "play to win" mentality. Very deliberate.
  22. Adam Kunkel was special. He deserves credit for being the best player on the floor. The 3 by McNeil when it it was 11-1 was an important basket, considering the time and score. Settled the Jags, and (who knew) started a 50-27 run (let that sink in). The 3's by Hendrix and Runion to end the third were daggers. Congratulations to the Jags. Very poised group. As mentioned by many, they have a chance to go deep.
