  1. "works tirelessly" is an understatement. If people only knew what he does behind the scenes for the students and families at BBHS, they would be stunned. Congratulations on a most deserved honor!
  2. Sometimes this site makes me sad. Instead of talking Xs and Os, or celebrating the achievements of high school students, we have people knocking those accomplishments, and player's parents having to defend their children. I'm sorry for the family that has to occur. It doesn't matter what level YOU think a player should play. Perhaps there were educational reasons why Bellarmine was selected. Perhaps his choice had nothing to do with hoops, and he found a way to leverage a truly unique advantage 99.9% of high school students don't have. Maybe the young man wanted to continue his Catholic education (how cool would that be). Back to the topic...I don't know how to stop him. And by the looks of things, the majority of coaches/teams don't know how to either! Best of luck to Ben and his friends.
  3. Went 16 minutes (2 quarters) without a basket. A few FTs, but no filed goals.
  4. 1966, Mike Casey, Shelby Co 1968, Terry Davis, Shelby Co 1971, Jimmy Dan Conner, Anderson Co More importantly, this is the first time a Mr. Basketball winner will attend Northern Kentucky University. Let that sink in for a minute. NKU has arrived! Congratulations Carson, and best of luck at NKU. #NorseUp
  5. Maybe NKU has "nothing to do with it", but their clientele is LARGELY high school students and their families. For four days, they had a captive audience. It seems they should have taken a very active role in promoting the event to draw people to their wonderful campus and showcase their wares. justsayin
  6. I was at a N Ky high school track meet yesterday and ran into a friend. He's an assistant track/XCountry coach, a big basketball fan (and an Enquirer subscriber). We discussed the NC/CovCath regional boys game at length, and I mentioned I was interested in attending the girls state semifinals that night. He said, "where are the games? WKU?" I dont know know who is responsible, but the collective lack of promotion is very disappointing.
  7. They were down 11-0 to start the game. Manual 13-16-3-9 41 Murray 10-18-14-16 58

  9. I saw Trimble miss repeated attempts at the basket, especially during their nine minute drought. I thought the Camel zone took away the high/low game and the Raiders settled for some desperate 3s, but I think that was more a result of the growing deficit. Any team making only 2 baskets over the last 13+ minutes isn't going to beat anyone. Key play of the game was the steal and basket by Jolly in the third after Trimble cut the lead to 4. After that, it was Katy-bar-the-door. Here's the good news: Camels shot 24% in the second half, and won by 15!!! They have a game under their belts on the larger floor. Should be tough out!!
  10. I recall going to a post-season All-Star game featuring Beal and Bailey at NC following their senior year. Does anyone else recall that game, or the circumstances?
  11. I just spent 3.5 hours reading the Trimble/SK thread (jeez!). Based on that game, the preamble to this game sounds similar ... Small school v big school. I'm sure the Camels will be well prepared, and won't overlook Trimble (not suggesting SK did). Camels are very guard oriented, and Raiders sound "long". I expect a low scoring game, and the Camels to advance. However, if it is a low scoring game and the Camels have trouble hitting their FTs (which has happened in many games), don't be surprised to see the Raiders spring the upset. Tonight's atmosphere (with 8th, 9th and 10th all represented) should be electric! Best of luck to all!!
  12. correction ... Mason 36-34 6:15 to play (consecutive 3s by Maddux)
  13. "Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."
  14. Hold on, hold on. Are you telling me, that this team often compared to Hickory HS and Hoosiers, has Coach Dale (Kirk) going down the bench to grab Ollie (Laycock), insert him in late in the game, and after missing two FTs, hits the game winning basket??!! I thought that's what you said! Unbelievable!! Congratulations to Hickory (Augusta). Save me a seat on the "River to Rupp" train. Very cool.
  15. My question is, coming out of a timeout, what kind of play was drawn up with six players?! On each out of bounds play, each player has a "role", or assignment.
  16. The big 3 get the majority of the attention, and rightfully so, but Pugh and Shoemaker make the Panthers a complete TEAM. Panthers by 5.
  17. Here's what I'd like to see in the 10th region. My perfect region would be: 37th: St Pat, Bracken, Augusta, Brossart 38th: Scott, Pendleton, Bourbon, Clark 39th: Campbell, Mason, Harrison, Montgomery 40th: Nicholas, Calvary, Silver Grove, Paris, Robertson Geographically, it doesn't "fit", but it allows a fair amount of parity based on size. I'm sure the larger schools would cry "foul" at this makeup, but if we aren't going to have classification (which I'm against), this allows a more level playing field for the smaller schools.
  18. Great draw for MoCo. Not so great draw for Campbell. Augusta/Scott will be a barn burner!
  19. Thanks Sumo.... I had the privilege of suiting up in the Fieldhouse late 70s, and that was my recollection.
  20. I don't have pictures, but I really like the Hound Pound at Paris High School. I love how you enter at an elevated level, and descend into the seating bowl.
  21. Perhaps I'm getting confused with another gym, but did the benches at The Fieldhouse use to be located in the end zones, like Vandy's gym? If so, when did they get moved to the sidelines?
  22. There have been a lot of clever responses regarding Wiggins. This might be the best!
  23. wow. Just wow! Beaten by 60, and they have overachieved.
