  1. I'm DVR'ing the NKU game (same time). What's the chance I get out of BB&T without knowing the score?!
  2. Bishop Brossart High School and NKU grad Andrew Kappes on the 1530 AM call tonight. He did a bang-up job. Andrew also handles play-by-play for Indianapolis Indians (Pirates AAA). I'm assuming regular Norse voice Jim Kelch has moved on to Goodyear AZ to pick up Reds duties.
  3. Remind me not to quit my day job. Although I said this tournament was wide open, I thought that Oakland would snip the nets. I never thought some Penguins would scalp the Grizzlies. I hope that NKU doesn't let this distract their focus on Wright St. Norse up!
  4. Was going to run in the BockFest 5K (instead of water stations, they have beer .. how fun), but had other plans. Maybe next year.
  5. Hammink and Walker are solid, but after them, largely a group of role players. Such a difficult task to replace your top dog (and he's a bonafide too dog) and his 23/10 so late in the season. Tough challenge for a first year coach. Oakland's 3-headed monster of Walker, Hayes and Dorsey-Walker, along with Brock appear to be the class of the field. Anxious to see it play out. Norse up!
  6. I appreciate you posting this information. I'm kind of a weather geek, but find these long range (10-14 day) forecasts a real crap shoot. Heck, they often mess up the forecasts 1-2 days out. That said, how often are these long range forecasts accurate? 20%? Higher? Thx!
  7. Prayers extended to your father and your entire family.
  8. Been doing that for years. It's a real challenge, especially when you get the late night munchies (which is every night!). Good luck
  9. Lare to the thread here (sorry), but are you admitting the Fieldhouse is an advantage to the Royals? Just want to make sure you're on the same page with the rest of the 10th Region.
  10. Interesting note I just learned on Peters: he graduated last spring, so he was eligible to transfer anywhere in the country. He made that decision to stay, even after learning that HC Bryce Drew had left to take the Vandy job. He cited his desire to finish his career with his "brothers" at Valpo. We often see graduate transfers on other teams. I'm sure he could have found a spot on any number of top 20 teams this season. Very noble move on his part.
  11. Unfortunately, NKU would get Oakland in the semifinals. :( Oakland plays the 8/9 winner, then gets the 4/5 (NKU/Wright St) winner. An uphill climb for NKU.
  12. As I predicted, and as reported all over the internet, Alec Peters is officially done for the season. Very unfortunate end to a great collegiate career. How does this alter the outcome of the tournament? I think Oakland becomes the clear favorite.
  13. Wow!!! Just goes to show how powerful moving water can be. Amazing!
  14. Congratulations Coach!! The victory over Valpo raises RPI to 102. Postseason seems assured. Well done!
  15. This. Briscoe usually has a few really bad turnovers. Now, we need to get Fox to clean up his silly mistakes.
  16. This deserves an asterisk. Monk and Fox deferred to the seniors, and did not start.
  17. Dave Baker just quoted Marty Brennaman: "Ain't love grand!"
  18. .... and Derek Willis just proposed to his girlfriend!!!
  19. Oakland 15th, Valpo 17th in latest Mid-major top 25 poll (collegeinsider.com).
  20. Hard to argue your rationale, but I say 1a. Oakland 1b. Valpo based on recent history and Peters injury. 3. Green Bay UIC is an "easier" first round game, Valpo reinventing themselves (don't get me wrong; still very good), and the Phoenix are defending champs. 4a. NKU 4b. Wright St This game will be a war. Then Oakland, then Valpo/GB in three days. A lot to ask.
  21. Semifinals on Monday March 6 (7pm, 9:30pm) will be broadcast on ESPNU.
  22. Begins on Friday, with champ crowned next Tuesday on ESPN. NCAA Automatic Bid at stake. In my opinion, top to bottom, this is one of the most balanced leagues in basketball. All but a few NKU regular season games ended in single digits. I think the winner comes from one of 5: Oakland, Valpo, Green Bay, NKU, Wright St. Who do you have? How realistic is NKU's chance?
  23. Whether a diagnosis of stress reaction or stress fracture, from what I've read, minimum recovery time is 4-6 weeks. Whether Peters plays or not, Oakland becomes the favorite, based on the fact they beat Valpo twice, with Peters playing both times. NKU is rolling, but a difficult draw. Both games with Wright St could have gone either way. Then Oakland, then Valpo (if seed holds). Should be a fantastic tournament, with 5 teams realistically hopeful (Oakland, Valpo, Green Bay, NKU, Wright St). Norse up!!
