Augusta comes from 9 down (24-15) at halftime to rally with a 46 point second half to win this season ending road game. Playing without starter J. Shoemaker, Owens Crawford hits a big 2 pointer with 13 seconds to go to put the Panthers up one. Maddox finishes off a career high 33 point night with both ends of a one & one.

 

This finishes the regular season at 20-6 and comes into the District Tournament winning 7 in a row, and 9 of the last 10.

Great regular season for five guards that play harder, smarter and are a pure delight to watch. The Panthers have been groomed by Coach Kirk to out perform all opponent's expectations down the stretch. Still got tons of unfinished business to meet their own goals.

Augusta with 97 wins over the past 5 years with as challenging a schedule as anyone in the Region every year and 1 year with as tough a schedule as anyone in the state. All with roughly 55 male students in the entire HS annually. EVERYBODY should respect and aspire to this type of effort, focus, and total class manner in which this accomplishment was achieved. Young men everywhere take note, set your goals high, work hard, and be respectful and you can achieve. Never let anyone convince you otherwise.

That is a shame for the Wildcats. This late in the season is not the time to have drama occurring for a team. I did not realize there was a second key player missing. Could be an opportune time for the Bellevue Tigers to pull off a surprise in the district against Newport and get to the 9th Region tournament.

This AHS Sr class is now 78-40, best 4 yr win total ever, 3 20 win seasons, 7 straight wins and looking for more. Proud to be a Panther!!
