Bit of a shocker.

Ryle plays hard. Birds looked a little sluggish tonight. O'hara hit some big 3's. For the birds turnovers again. LaFrange had 11 at half with three 3's but then got a chaser Cheeseman in the 2nd half. Finfrock needs more touches down low as that might open up more opportunities. Birds battle they just need to get over the hump. Just need to get them going all at once. I believe they shot better on the line tonight. Need more attempts. Did note NewCath and Holmes coaches in house and one Ben Weyer (celebrity status). Just joking but Man is he playing great!!!

Actually last night they did not, but thanks for asking. Glad to know that they are on everyone's mind though. Must be a slow day for you if you took the time and energy to make this totally meaningless post.

Is the turnover issue spread out amongst the entire team? In other words are they running the offense and just struggling to find shots so they end up turning it over or are teams pressing and causing the Birds turnovers?

The turnovers in most cases are self-inflicted and result most times from being out of control and trying to force things that just are not there. Also a lot of the turnovers are at the most inopportune times.

 

Poor shot selection has also been an issue at times as well. This team cannot afford to give away possessions with poor shots and turnovers. A good missed shot you can certainly live with, but poor ones in combination with turnovers can turn a close game into a double digit deficit in a hurry. Several times last night guys were standing on the 3 point line unguarded and knocked down shots because the ball was moving and one extra pass led to a wide open look.

It's not unusual to see hhs or nc players at the others games - in all sports.

Agreed. Ben is the big fish that got away but to nice of a boy not to be very happy for everything he has accomplished. I would agree no doubt they want to beat each other but they will root for each other against the rest. Sibling rivalry great description. Again the boys know each other very well.

Does Ryle's 8th grader whose name escapes me (Rankin?) play varsity? How is he faring?

An extra pass and going up with confidence. I see deep penetration when a quick kick would have been a better result. Last comment when the big works find him.

I believe he started varsity and JV last night. Looks the part,, but really did not play or was involved in any significant action during varsity game. Small sample based on one night's action. I am certain he will be someone to watch moving forward.

Started JV and varsity? I don't know how many thousands of games I've attended, but I know I've never seen that. Not once.
