  1. Congrats on a NICE CAREER for the group of Big Train Seniors who have FOUR 1000-point scorers in their class. Who knows what the immediate future holds for Silver Grove. The cupboard is getting bare ....
  2. As a casual fan, the price of parking, the fact I can sit in a seat-back chair, and the fact I know I will actually gain admittance, far out-weigh any other "costs" I may incur. Please do NOT return this event to a gymnasium where a limited number of fans can attend. As stated .. all interested parties, including BOKC .. need to iron out the wrinkles and continue to make this event work. Hopefully, common sense, and the fact that everyone benefits, will win out.
  3. I see Kramer in the box score. Last I read, she was out for the season with a broken hand. What is the current situation? Glad to see she is able to play. Best of luck to both teams in the post-season.
  4. Asinine comments. Decisions on why kids should not be on the road at 7am are completely different than decisions on why kids can be participating in extracurricular activities at 7pm. The inverse is often true as well .. school in session, but prudent minds cancel evening extracurricular activities when a late afternoon storm renders roads unsafe. Common sense prevails.
  5. Jason Frakes (C-J) is always a reliable source. KABC names top players in each region | USA Today High School Sports | USA Today High School Sports
  6. I watched that game, and immediately thought it was a travel. I stayed with the broadcast, and ensuing SportsCenter, to see if it was discussed. NO ONE EVER MENTIONED IT.
  7. 105 points is hard to do, especially with a running clock. Does anyone know at what point the 35 point differential occurred, and the score at that time?
  8. Why would they not give him at least 3 years? I would agree .. he exhibits all the qualities you mention, and is a home-town legend. I would say he's there for as long as he likes.
  9. 97 points, and only one 3-ball? That's unheard of in today's game.
  10. A successful student-athlete must maintain balance on a three-legged stool, keeping their parents, teacher and coach all happy at the same time. If there is not balance, or if any of those relationships falter, the stool wobbles. Because Mr. Goller wore all three hats at the same time, he "got it" better than any coach-teacher-parent I've encountered. Excellence was demanded in each relationship, but not at the expense of another.
  11. Just found the details in the prediction thread. That is horrible news! Best of luck to a quick and 100% recovery.
  12. Sorry if I'm late to the game, but what happened to Kylie, and what is the prognosis? She is a heck of a player .. I hope she is ok and back on the court soon.
  13. "What's in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet;"
  14. That's not fair!! Why do those six schools get to play, and no one else?!! I hope the winning schools hang "Play to Change a Life Girls BBALL Classic" Championship banners in their gyms. LOL
  15. I'm happy for that JV group. They plod along in obscurity, and have matured quite nicely this year. I wish they had the opportunity to play in the NKy JV Tourney. Not sure why that didn't happen. Congrats to NCC Varsity. Played as a "team" (agree on McDonald .. that young man does whatever is necessary for the team to achieve .. very unselfish). I was impressed by their Defense .. it wasn't that Brossart shot a poor percentage .. they had trouble even getting off shots. Best of luck in the 9th.
  16. It's amazing to me how ignorant some people can be about how good (or bad) some players are just because they shoot FTs poorly. Rondo is a top-5 point guard when healthy. Led the league in assists 2 of the last 3 seasons; easily the best rebounding point guard in the game. Rondo is shooting .394 from 3-land this year (small sample, but 13-33). Guess what Steph Curry is shooting from 3-land? Yup ... .394. Shaq couldn't shoot FTs either, but has four rings on his left hand. There's a reason Rondo is in his ninth year in the league, and LeMaster/Sparks never, ever, ever, ever, ever played .... justsayin
  17. If my team couldn't go, I'd choose any team that has never experienced the Sweet Sixteen before (and there are many..too many to name). Seems it's always Mason/Clark/Montgomery (and I know..Campbell went last year). Just ask Augusta how awesome their trip this week to Frankfort was.
  18. Name the score, NCC. Name the score. They win by whatever coach Dawn deems appropriate.
  19. Deja Turner is a stud!!! 8/11 FG, 3/5 3FG, 1/2 FT. I love to watch that young lady play. Wright St. is getting a fantastic player. True story .. our high school team was playing Holmes on a Saturday night 6 years ago. That morning, I read in the paper a 7th grader pumped in 27 the night before. As the teams were warming up, I passed by our Varsity coach on the baseline and said "which one is the 7th grader?". He looked at me and said "huh?". Needless to say, he only lasted one year ... :ohbrother: Congrats to the Indians .. go get that title!
  20. anytime Bailey shoots 1/10 FG, 0/2 3FG, 3/7 FT, the Bears are not going to win. Sometimes, you just can't throw it in the ocean from the shore. Congrats to the Lady Bears for getting to the quarters! NCAA Box Score
  21. It's hard to say what is "enough" .. there were probably 8 Freshmen boys. I'm sure in many cases that is "enough", but in the coach's eyes, it wasn't. He was the only one I recall getting significant Varsity minutes .. there may have been others. As a freshman, I'm sure you feel honored to be asked to contribute. I guess I just wish the adults had been a little more prudent. (And please .. let's not get in to the "add middle school players" discussion .. I think you know how I feel about that one.)
  22. When my daughter was a freshman, she played Freshmen and JV ball, then sat the bench in the Varsity game (very little minutes played) due to low numbers (we're at a small school). About half-way thru the season, we had to bring to the coach's attention this was excessive .. basically, playing/in uniform from 4pm - 9:30pm on triple-header nights. Just recently, I witnessed a boys triple-header, and saw a freshman player (other team) start the Freshmen game, start the JV game, and get significant minutes for the Varsity (again, about 16-18 total kids dressed for for all three squads .. low numbers). I felt bad for the kid by the end of the night; he looked worn out.
  23. don't let Mustang hear this!! He'd love to have you both as honorary Mustangs!
  24. I have to admit, with the number of girls they lost from last year, I didn't expect this kind of success, even with Cummins. Quality, younger players have a greater effect on girls basketball than any other sport (with the possible exception of Xcountry or track). Best of luck to the Lady Bears. Enjoy it!
  25. High school athletics SHOULD be about playing the best players on the team who are also students in the school they represent. justsayin
