I I agree with JB. I was kinda surprised Hoge played a whole half at the Holmes game. Way too important to this team for him to be healthy. Take the emotion out of it and sit him the second half. This team goes as Hoge goes. Without his passing threat, eight in the box kills any running game.

Birds Defense came alive in the second half couple pics and a fumble recovery. Hoge was limping the whole game but came back after a couple poor series by the offense in the second half.

Highlands corners way to far off the ball. Just like that last touchdown. 14-7 Columbus

I remember Bill (Mr Roller) came into the locker room our last game against the Camels in 80 at halftime unannounced. Even though we were 9 and 1 at the time, we didn't have anything to play for due to the lovely sub district arrangement but a little pride. I think we were up 7-0 or something at halftime. He lit us up for the whole break. The coaches stayed in the office and stayed out of the way. I think each and everyone of us were afraid that if we didn't put up some points he would be waiting outside the door for us. The coaches came out of the office and said nothing and led us back out. We put up 28 in the second half and recorded our seventh goose egg of the season. Just one of the reasons why this tradition of excellence lives on.

Once Hoge started finding other open receivers they started moving the ball better. Early on it was #6 or nothing. After he hit a couple others the options openmed up. Interesting seeing Austin at TE. Makes a nice short yardage target.

Come on guys... You know UK had all the frosh D1 kids on a college visit tonight... No way HHS could win against SKs number 1s. Congrats to the Birds for avoiding the running clock. It's a shame SKs program is looked on this way because of one poster.... Good luck to both squads the rest of the way...

Yep and HHS one loss came at the hands of Newport. Knocked them out of any playoff hopes with a 10-1 record. My how times have changed. Now everyone gets a ribbon. And if not... There's always the "All-A"... Had to throw that in since RCC9 is on a sabbatical. But I will say it wS nice to have the rivalries so close to home.

And they are told when they cannot practice I.e. Weds after Six PM No practice for any HHS sports teams

HHS hitters did a nice job of protecting her. Quite a few hitters on that team. How many teams out there have 50 Rbis out of the six hole? Shelby is an awesome hitter but that doesn't help unless you have some protection. We are very proud of Shelby and the rest of the team stepping up. Congrats to Shelby, kid works extremely hard and has earned every bit that she had received.

Well not too impressed by the birds tonight. QB locks on one receiver, running game non existent. Give the camels props. Their line decided to block in the second half and controlled the LOS. Lots of work to do.

Cchs scored on a short run and also the 2 point 23-8. HHS. Birds defense is not doing well against the run Matter of fact they are terrible against it this half.

I've been looking forward to this game for a year now. Flying those HHS colors off the back deck in site of the Camels new digs (awesome complex by the way). I just wish they would have put the scoreboard on the other end of the field. Finally we get to see what Watson has. Talked to him today and he's chomping at the bit. Hopefully he'll get some carries. Also looking forward to seeing what the junior class has to offer. Got some personal favorites in that class... Cain, Kendall, Doherty, New and others. Good luck to both teams. I've coached kids on both sides and looking forward to seeing them play. Hope Carson has a good game... Just not too good of one... Having some pre-game at the house and then the long "walk" to the game.

Got to get rid of the "Bluebirds" the fear and oppression we thrust upon earthworms is overwhelming. This whole name changing thing is petty. While not "full blooded" I have quite a few ancestors that were, dare I say it, of "Indian" heritage and really it almost seems to get me worked up the other direction when this is brought up.

Thought I would start a new topic... Not that crappy calls, crappy fences and doctors notes aren't exciting... How about some Summerball rosters? I know quite a few HHS girls are playing. Any rosters out there?

Got to say it has been quite the run... I've said it before but I and many others are pretty proud of these young ladies. Coach Coffey challenged them early and often this year whether the toughest schedule Highlands has ever had or the demand of focus and want to succeed he instilled in them. By the end of the year they were hitting on all cylinders. We kinda ran out of gas this weekend and things got a little crazy but this team is still young and has had a taste and I believe the hunger is within them. I'd like to send a shout out to our two seniors, Kendall and Ashley. You led by example and as a parent of one of the younger ones I thank you for that. I wish you both all the success in the world and you will always be part of this family of Birds. For the returning players, you've had a taste of success and even though things might have been a little better this weekend you have a lot to build on. Work hard this summer and be ready to come back together in the fall. The future looks bright for you and without the performances of you, there would be no region or state appearances. A seventh grader steps into a spot she has never played and picks it like a seasoned veteran at second, an eighth grader steps up in a tough spot with our starting pitcher out with surgery and serves up a perfect game and a district championship. Pretty awesome group of young Birds. So again, great effort!!! You played for the name on the front and stepped up this year. Just got home and it seems a little chilly tonight... Is it February 15th yet???

Don't know if this was mentioned but it's not just the fences but the infield is cut for 90 foot bases with a very pronounced lip. Seemed that a lot of balls hit there. I won't say I saw any errors caused by it but it really made the field look odd. Only bonus.... The waters were only two bucks... Unlike the 27.50 or so at the Ninth. Got to end that gouging for sure....
