  1. That was my Junior year, after that loss to Woodford County we were clicking on all cylinders the last 4 games of the year. We got stopped on that 4th and goal and ended our chances in the play offs. If the playoffs were like they are now, we would have had the opportunity to move on and maybe challenge for the 3A title.
  2. That is what I am hearing. The same kind of thing happened when Tom Duffy came to Danville. I still think he is part of the reason Danville had their big run. He came in with a tough mind set and demanded comiting to the program or stay at home.
  3. I talked to someone close to the program and they said they were accepting applications until Feb 1st. Then would start the selection process. Also that Jerry Perry applied, really wants the job and would not retire for 5-7 years if he got the job. Also, I really got the feeling Perry would be very upset if he wasn't given a chance. He has payed his dues at Danville and probably does deserve an opportunity. OH, and they would not have to worry about a teaching position for him.
  4. Boyle Co. has a lot of kids living in the city limits, but the city limits and the school district boundaries are not the same. Argyle, Blue Grass Estates, Streamland, Colonial Heights. These are all subdivisions in Danville with a large population of school kids and have grown over the years. Also a lot of growth in the out lying areas between Perryville and Parksville have a lot of new growth during the Chuck Smith era.
  5. It already has several times, I'll just be glad when a decision is made and all the speculation is over. I'm not sure which direction this hire will take because all the people making the decisions have said the politicaly right things at this point.
  6. I beleive it would be the 1978 playing season, That would have been Stephan Turner's senior football season. Of course he then graduated the spring of 1979.
  7. If Chuck Smith is not at UK, which it doesn't appear He will be, I don't see how they can pull his pay, Joker went to Florida and I'm sure he is not losing the 2+ million he was due from UK. By the way, I really don't see Chuck coming to Danville.
  8. My understanding the weight program had diminished. I'm talking about going to the weight room with purpose, something structured and the players comitted to getting bigger and stronger, not just going in and playing around and come if you want to. The proof is in the pudding. Danville had some size this year but they didn't show any strength by being able to dominate the line of scrimmage against the better teams they played. They used to have running backs who ran over people. In the recent past they have had some good backs with speed and agility but no strength to break tackles and run through people.
  9. I'm not sure. We have a Superintendent that has only been here a few years and a new Principal. I hope they are really comitted to the football program and make it attractive enough to get a proven Coach. At this point I'm not sure. I just hope who ever it is, comes in with the attitude to create more physical and mental toughness, with a big part of that making players comit to the weight room. A organized serious weight program is needed to start to get Danville back to where they want to be.
  10. From the visitors side this game was chippy from the start, both ways. Congratulations to Somerset, good luck next week. I did pick NCC in the game poll, but thats what AJG ask for earlier in this thread. I think Coach Lucas is a great Coach and has been the difference maker in most of the success SHS has had against Danville over the past several years. I'm sure he will have a good game plan for NCC.:thumb:
  11. I didn't miss it too far, I picked BW 28 FHS 7 in the pregame thread.
  12. Which player for Danville was ejected? #12 Ace Ray went out for a while after a personal foul call, but went back in a series later. Also, as I said in the pre game thread Somerset does a lot of extra stuff after plays and some extra talking. Somerset had 3-4 personal fouls in the game also, the Danville players just let it get to them too much in the second half. I thought Danville played more agressively but just gave up too many big third down conversions in the first half and 3 interceptions and a critical fumble in the second half. It was just too much to overcome with those turnovers. Its Somersets 4th regional title, will they finaly be able to get their first state title this year?
  13. I figured as much. You're right you have to be careful and not show strong retaliation because that is the player who usually gets flaged. I just like to see 11 DHS players playing with fire and agression, blocking til the whistle blows and roughing it up a little.
  14. I will never pick against Danville no matter who they play. I think Danville is totaly capable of beating Somerset. They just have to make up their minds that they are tired of getting pushed around. The last 2 games I have watched between the two, Somerset will give a little extra push after a tackle or play is over to intimidate Danville. I would get tired of that crap and return the favor in a discrete way. Of course I know SHS players are trying to get in the DHS players head and so far they have been sucessful. I'll take Danville in a close one 17-14, on a long field goal by Danville's excellent kicker.
  15. Danville moved the ball on the ground at times with a first start Soph QB in the rain. The rushing total in the game was scewed by some big losses by QB. Frankfort plays pressure defense and gambles alot, if BW has a good O line they could do some damage and control the ball against Frankfort. the best way to stop FHS offense is to not let them have the ball. I'll take BW at home 28-7.
  16. That would probably be the best plan, except for those few districts that have 4 better teams than their opposing districts. On occasion there have been 4's win the State title, ie., Bourbon Co. 1997 I think. But those are rare.
  17. Good. Last year there were low spots all the way down the middle of the field with water standing around the 15-20 yard lines.:irked:
  18. I wonder if Prestonsburg's field is in as bad a condition as it was last year. I hope not.:irked:
  19. This game could have been 100+ to 6, clock ran entire second half. Is Betsy Layne that bad or was Danville finally playing like I thought they could? JK Howard and DeVonte Alcorn both played and both looked good.
  20. I saw Frankfort play last week, Danville limited their passing game, but gave up most of the rushing yards Frankfort gained on three trap plays up the middle while Danville was playing only 4 down lineman. Three big fummbles gave Frankfort 21 of their 28 points. 2 of those fumbles by a backup Soph. QB starting His first game on the 3 and 12 yard lines giving FHS very short fields. If Mayfield has their starters and plays focused I think they would beat Frankfort by 3-4 touch downs.:thumb:
  21. Danville gets back two key players tonight, starting QB Devonta Alcorn and their big lineman JK Howard. Howard has been out 5 weeks and I'm interested how he performs. I still think His return will be a big psychological boost for the ADS. I hope the ADS come out and take care of business early against Betsy Layne.
  22. The NCC and OC game was year before last totaly different teams this year, and I'm not sure how good Beechwood is this year? I'm sure NCC has a good team, my point is there are more Northern KY posters on here thus alot more votes for NCC.:walk:
  23. This pole is interesting, but the Northern KY influence of this site is really showing up.
  24. Danville played well against Boyle Co. and won, They lost JK Howard at Green County 6' 3" 300+ lineman. You wouldn't think one player would make that much difference, but Danville thru several games since has been in a funk. If they get Howard back it could be the emotional lift the ADS need and carry them a long way towards Bowling Green. Danville playing with emotion and focused will be a tough out for any team in 2A.:dancingpa
  25. Sam Harp says DHS may have to start Playoffs without starting QB.:scared:
