Agree or Disagree?

For me, I agree but the games still have to be played. We can't have any injuries like we had going into the State Championship game last year. Beechwood was a dog fight and I expect a few more before this thing is over. I will say Mayfield should win unless an egg is laid in some game or some sort of significant injurie were to happen.

There is no question about Mayfield and Beechwood having outstanding teams and history. I think your review of the regions and the outcome is informative. However, even with favorable mentions of Frankfort team, I think that without seeing this team play lately you cannot understand the talent level they possess. The question may be does Mayfield have the speed to keep up with Frankfort. Frankfort's defense may be the fastest I have been around in years. The problem with stopping their offense is, that if you stop the passing game, which most have not, there are so many Rb's that can make plays that it dishartens teams about who they should stop. I watched Frankfort score 24 pts in less than 2 minutes a couple of weeks ago.

If you get by Beechwood you will see plenty of team speed plus Mr. Jackson. You better be smart, tough and physical to boot.

As I am not very familiar with Fairviews season, what quality wins do they have that would convince you they are the best team in the state?

I do think Frankfort is Mayfields biggest obstacle for sure.. The reason I think Mayfield wins is due to Frankforts defense.. It may be fast, but, it's not real big in the trenches and thats where I think Mayfield can exploit them and they aren't great tacklers. They do pursue well left to right and close quickly, but, don't always wrap up once they do.. Mayfield has a very good offense that can pound you with the running game, hit you with the screens and short routes and about the time you bring the corners in, BOOM, they beat you deep.. I think they'll keep the Panther D off balance enough and turn more to a power game to control the clock and mix in the pass maybe 30-35% of the time.. The Frankfort offense, I feel, will be able to score some points on the Cardinals because they too can run and pass equally well and have alot of weapons, so, it's hard to key on any particular player.. But, in the end, I think the Cards will get a couple of extra stops and come away with a high scoring win, something along the lines of 45-33..

 

I'm going to go with Fairview from the East this year.. I feel they have the easiest road to the Semifinals, although Raceland will challenge them.. They have 3 outstanding backs and a solid receiver corp, allowing them to mix it up and keep opponents off balance.. Although there schedule has been suspect, at best, they've shown they can play with the better 1a teams with an earlier win vs Raceland and there defense is better than given credit for.. I don't really know why, call it a gut feeling, but, for some reason I think Williamsburg upsets Hazard in there Regional finals.. I feel if there line can give decent protection for there QB, they'll hit on a few big scoring plays, and if Hazard brings more heat and overpursues or puts more guys out in coverage, Sizemore has the ability to beat you with his legs.. It'll all come down to Williamsburg D being able to hold there own vs the Hazard O.. I think Hazard will score some points, likely 21-28, but, W'burg can't afford to give them any more than that.. I say 34-28 W'Burg, then in semis I think Fairview plays ball control, eating the clock and frustrates the Burg on there way to a 35-21 win..

 

In the finals, I think the tough schedule and state championship experience makes the difference.. Mayfield 48 Fairview 21

I am not looking past bw, I am responding to the preview. The preview had Frankfort and Mayfield in the regional final. I was just flipping the score. I also stated we needed to handle their business first. I am not trying to prognosticate, merely respond to the opinion of the preview. There is no question that Jackson is very talented, we have a couple of very good Jacksons also. We also have a McGee, 3 Washington's, a Maddox and a Hawkins. Who says they haven't seen Frankfort? Not one person compiles these playoff previews. I've seen Frankfort, and unless the second coming of Jared Lorenzen doesn't burn Mayfield deep on repeated occasions, then Mayfield has an excellent chance of winning. Looking at the success Danville was having on the ground, even when Frankfort knew the Ad's had no passing game last week, I would think Mayfield's running game would put up some big numbers. Would love a shorter trip to Frankfort this season. By the way... Mayfield fans have heard this "more team speed or as much team speed as Mayfield" in the playoffs the last several years, and we're still waiting to see it.

Frankfort does have alot of team speed, but, so does Mayfield and it's not just Jackson. Matter of fact, Jackson isn't even close to being one of the fastest, just happens to be the best overall football player on both sides of the ball.. The Cardinals aren't as fast as the 2010, 2011 teams, but, still has plenty of getup in the tank and play fundamentally as well as any past team they've had and that's whats made them as good as they've been this year, not individual talent or speed..

I see what you meant now. Watch Frank and the Ads. That qb is a good size kid but had a off night but #3 picked it up. The kid who was the most impressive was the DE Hawkins, he had a huge game

I saw Frankfort play last week, Danville limited their passing game, but gave up most of the rushing yards Frankfort gained on three trap plays up the middle while Danville was playing only 4 down lineman. Three big fummbles gave Frankfort 21 of their 28 points. 2 of those fumbles by a backup Soph. QB starting His first game on the 3 and 12 yard lines giving FHS very short fields. If Mayfield has their starters and plays focused I think they would beat Frankfort by 3-4 touch downs.:thumb:

The DE was Josh Padone. The runner with the big night was McGee. Passing was off because of weather and Frankfort never.flipped the field. Tough night for offense.
